U osvit ovogodišnjih lokalnih izbora promjenit će se izgled splitskog Trga Gaje Bulata. U javnost su već izašli detalji oko njegovog budućeg izgleda: gradit će se fontana, stepenice za ulaz u kazalište kakve su bile prošlog stoljeća, bit će sve popločano, bit će klupa i zelenila i – spomenik splitskom gradonačelniku Gaji Bulatu.

Autor projekta uređenja trga je arhitekt Damir Vujčić, te akademski kipari Đani Martinić i Frane Šitum koji su izradili skulpturu – ona je već završena i čeka da bude prevezena u Split u zagrebačkoj Ljevaonici umjetnina Ujević.

Odljevena je u aluminiju i u pretpostavljenoj visini uglednog pravnika i političara za čijeg je načelničkog mandata od 1885. do 1893. godine otvorena zgrada kazališta i fontana 'bajamontuša' na Rivi. Preciznije, sa gornjim rubom njegova šešira skulptura je visoka 2, 15 metara.

Zašto su se autori odlučili na baš ovakvu skulpturu, pitamo kipara Đanija Martinića?

- Kad se radi o spomeniku političkoj ličnosti, tema je škakljiva. Nismo htjeli raditi spomenik koji će biti na postamentu, koji će glorificirati ili mistificirati tu osobu, to je posao za povjesničare. Kako je Gajo Bulat bio "narodnjak", čovjek koji se zalagao za upotrebu hrvatskog jezika u školama, široko poznat i popularan, odlučili smo ga prikazati u jednoj ljudskoj gesti. U ravnini je s drugima, "među narodom", kao jedan moderan političar koji pozdravlja svoje sugrađane u prolazu.

Skulptura će biti smještena u blizini perivoja, prema sredini Trga, što smo mijenjali u projektu na zahtjev gradonačelnika Andre Krstulovića Opare. Ranija ideja je bila da bude bliže skalinama na ulazu u HNK, no kako će se stepenice rekonstruirati po uzoru na izvorno građene, kada je postojala i rampa za kočije, morali smo ga premjestiti. Neposredno pred ulazom u zgradu kazališta zamišljeno je da se održavaju koncerti na otvorenom, tako da smo morali mijenjati prvu ideju – veli Martinić koji objašnjava i zašto su odabrali svijetlo sivu boju za skulpturu, a ne uobičajenu brončanu:

- Bronca nakon što dobije patinu potamni, pa se dobija dojam da je skulptura manja nego jest. Mislim da će se ova dobro uklopiti jer smo trg promišljali kao cjelinu, a i položaj skulpture je odabran tako da ne naruši postojeće pravce kretanja Splićana koji na tom prostoru cirkuliraju. Fontana je predviđena na mjestu gdje su bili izvori Dobri, pa će s klupama i zelenilom pozivati na odmor, s pogledom na zgradu kazališta – objašnjava akademski kipar.

Inače, Gajo Filomen Bulat u vrijeme kada je bio na čelu grada također je bio zastupnik u Dalmatinskom saboru i Carevinskom vijeću u Beču, gdje je i umro 1900. godine.

Posao oko uređenja trga koji nosi njegovo ime trajat će tri mjeseca, a vrijednost radova je 3,75 milijuna kuna.

U osvit ovogodišnjih lokalnih izbora promjenit će se izgled splitskog Trga Gaje Bulata. U javnost su već izašli detalji oko njegovog budućeg izgleda: gradit će se fontana, stepenice za ulaz u kazalište kakve su bile prošlog stoljeća, bit će sve popločano, bit će klupa i zelenila i – spomenik splitskom gradonačelniku Gaji Bulatu.

Autor projekta uređenja trga je arhitekt Damir Vujčić, te akademski kipari Đani Martinić i Frane Šitum koji su izradili skulpturu – ona je već završena i čeka da bude prevezena u Split u zagrebačkoj Ljevaonici umjetnina Ujević.

Odljevena je u aluminiju i u pretpostavljenoj visini uglednog pravnika i političara za čijeg je načelničkog mandata od 1885. do 1893. godine otvorena zgrada kazališta i fontana 'bajamontuša' na Rivi. Preciznije, sa gornjim rubom njegova šešira skulptura je visoka 2, 15 metara.

Zašto su se autori odlučili na baš ovakvu skulpturu, pitamo kipara Đanija Martinića?

- Kad se radi o spomeniku političkoj ličnosti, tema je škakljiva. Nismo htjeli raditi spomenik koji će biti na postamentu, koji će glorificirati ili mistificirati tu osobu, to je posao za povjesničare. Kako je Gajo Bulat bio "narodnjak", čovjek koji se zalagao za upotrebu hrvatskog jezika u školama, široko poznat i popularan, odlučili smo ga prikazati u jednoj ljudskoj gesti. U ravnini je s drugima, "među narodom", kao jedan moderan političar koji pozdravlja svoje sugrađane u prolazu.

Skulptura će biti smještena u blizini perivoja, prema sredini Trga, što smo mijenjali u projektu na zahtjev gradonačelnika Andre Krstulovića Opare. Ranija ideja je bila da bude bliže skalinama na ulazu u HNK, no kako će se stepenice rekonstruirati po uzoru na izvorno građene, kada je postojala i rampa za kočije, morali smo ga premjestiti. Neposredno pred ulazom u zgradu kazališta zamišljeno je da se održavaju koncerti na otvorenom, tako da smo morali mijenjati prvu ideju – veli Martinić koji objašnjava i zašto su odabrali svijetlo sivu boju za skulpturu, a ne uobičajenu brončanu:

- Bronca nakon što dobije patinu potamni, pa se dobija dojam da je skulptura manja nego jest. Mislim da će se ova dobro uklopiti jer smo trg promišljali kao cjelinu, a i položaj skulpture je odabran tako da ne naruši postojeće pravce kretanja Splićana koji na tom prostoru cirkuliraju. Fontana je predviđena na mjestu gdje su bili izvori Dobri, pa će s klupama i zelenilom pozivati na odmor, s pogledom na zgradu kazališta – objašnjava akademski kipar.

Inače, Gajo Filomen Bulat u vrijeme kada je bio na čelu grada također je bio zastupnik u Dalmatinskom saboru i Carevinskom vijeću u Beču, gdje je i umro 1900. godine.

Posao oko uređenja trga koji nosi njegovo ime trajat će tri mjeseca, a vrijednost radova je 3,75 milijuna kuna.
