Nevjerojatno kako vrijeme brzo prolazi. U nedjelju, 8.kolovoza, točno je 50 godina od otvaranja hotela koji danas poznajemo kao splitski resort Le Meridien Lav.
Što se u međuvremenu promijenilo? Baš sve. Dovoljno je pogledati panoramsku sliku iz te 1971. godine, pa da se vidi koliko se u ovih pola stoljeća izgradilo.
Predio iznad posljednjeg zavoja pred hotelom kada se ide u pravcu Splita, područje poznato kao Miljevac (Pećina), bilo je potpuno zeleno, s gustom borovom šumom, a danas je već upola u betonu. U smjeru Omiša sve su kuće u zelenilu, danas teško da je naći i jedno stablo, a uz brojne nove kuće niknuli su tu i mali hoteli...

No, vratimo se Lavu. Možda je manje poznato da se nakon otvaranja Lav zvao Kairos. Odmah po otvaranju stiglo je dvjestotinjak gostiju iz Italije, Francuske i Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, iako je bila dovršena samo jedna hotelska zgrada od ukupno tri predviđene unutar hotelskog kompleksa.
Tada se pisalo kako se „hotel nije mogao othrvati naletu turista i bio je prisiljen početi s radom“ jer su se gosti sami „odrekli stopostotnog komfora kad su vidjeli u kakvom je hotel ambijentu“.

U tom je trenutku to bio jedan od najvećih hotela na Jadranu i najsuvremenijih u visokoj B kategoriji. Imao je 373 sobe, salu za bankete i sastanke, salone, kasino, noćni klub, snack bar, brijačko-frizerski salon, ambulantu, razna sportska igrališta, kuglanu, vlastitu plažu, zimski bazen i druge sadržaje za rekreaciju, a gradila ga je splitska tvrtka Lavčević.
Međutim, Lav slavi tri rođendana, na datume koji su na svojevrstan način obilježili njegov početak. Upravo će stoga i u sadašnjem resortu Le Meridien Lav obilježiti ovu veliku obljetnicu povezujući sve te datume, od jeseni 2021. do kasnog proljeća 2022. godine.

Osim 8. kolovoza, kada je dio hotelskog kompleksa „otvoren pod naletom turista“, važni su datumi u početku rada i 24. listopada 1971., kada je cijeli hotelski kompleks i svečano otvoren na 27. obljetnicu oslobođenja Splita, te ožujak 1972. godine, kada je tadašnji hotelski kompleks „Kairos“ preimenovan u sada već legendarni „Lav“.
Hotel Le Meridien Lav od 2016. godine u vlasništvu je privatnog češkog equity fonda Odien Group, točnije njegove tvrtke-kćeri Odien Hotels N.V.
Le Meridien Lav danas je jedini resort s 5 zvjezdica na splitskom području. Raspolaže s ukupno 378 smještajnih jedinica te 12 suvremeno opremljenih konferencijskih dvorana na prostoru od 5000 četvornih metara.

Nevjerojatno kako vrijeme brzo prolazi. U nedjelju, 8.kolovoza, točno je 50 godina od otvaranja hotela koji danas poznajemo kao splitski resort Le Meridien Lav.
Što se u međuvremenu promijenilo? Baš sve. Dovoljno je pogledati panoramsku sliku iz te 1971. godine, pa da se vidi koliko se u ovih pola stoljeća izgradilo.
Predio iznad posljednjeg zavoja pred hotelom kada se ide u pravcu Splita, područje poznato kao Miljevac (Pećina), bilo je potpuno zeleno, s gustom borovom šumom, a danas je već upola u betonu. U smjeru Omiša sve su kuće u zelenilu, danas teško da je naći i jedno stablo, a uz brojne nove kuće niknuli su tu i mali hoteli...

No, vratimo se Lavu. Možda je manje poznato da se nakon otvaranja Lav zvao Kairos. Odmah po otvaranju stiglo je dvjestotinjak gostiju iz Italije, Francuske i Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, iako je bila dovršena samo jedna hotelska zgrada od ukupno tri predviđene unutar hotelskog kompleksa.
Tada se pisalo kako se „hotel nije mogao othrvati naletu turista i bio je prisiljen početi s radom“ jer su se gosti sami „odrekli stopostotnog komfora kad su vidjeli u kakvom je hotel ambijentu“.

U tom je trenutku to bio jedan od najvećih hotela na Jadranu i najsuvremenijih u visokoj B kategoriji. Imao je 373 sobe, salu za bankete i sastanke, salone, kasino, noćni klub, snack bar, brijačko-frizerski salon, ambulantu, razna sportska igrališta, kuglanu, vlastitu plažu, zimski bazen i druge sadržaje za rekreaciju, a gradila ga je splitska tvrtka Lavčević.
Međutim, Lav slavi tri rođendana, na datume koji su na svojevrstan način obilježili njegov početak. Upravo će stoga i u sadašnjem resortu Le Meridien Lav obilježiti ovu veliku obljetnicu povezujući sve te datume, od jeseni 2021. do kasnog proljeća 2022. godine.

Osim 8. kolovoza, kada je dio hotelskog kompleksa „otvoren pod naletom turista“, važni su datumi u početku rada i 24. listopada 1971., kada je cijeli hotelski kompleks i svečano otvoren na 27. obljetnicu oslobođenja Splita, te ožujak 1972. godine, kada je tadašnji hotelski kompleks „Kairos“ preimenovan u sada već legendarni „Lav“.
Hotel Le Meridien Lav od 2016. godine u vlasništvu je privatnog češkog equity fonda Odien Group, točnije njegove tvrtke-kćeri Odien Hotels N.V.
Le Meridien Lav danas je jedini resort s 5 zvjezdica na splitskom području. Raspolaže s ukupno 378 smještajnih jedinica te 12 suvremeno opremljenih konferencijskih dvorana na prostoru od 5000 četvornih metara.
