Znanstvenici su uočili da s ogoljelog područja južnog pola mjeseca Enceladusa prema svemiru izbijaju mineralima bogati mlazovi slane pare i kristala leda iz podzemnog oceana. Nakon što je sonda preletjela iznad mjeseca omogućila je znanstvenicima da mjerenjima otkriju gravitacijski signal vode, objavljeno je u časopisu Science.

"Mjerenja koja smo obavili u skladu su postojanjem velikog vodenog rezervoara veličine najvećeg od Velikih jezera u Sjevernoj Americi", kazao je talijanski profesor Luciano Iess za BBC, odnosno vodene mase oko 245 puta veće od Lago di Garda u Italiji.

To otkriće pokazuje da bi mjesec širok oko 500 kilometara mogao biti uz Zemlju najbolje mjesto na kojem bi mogao postojati život mikroorganizama.

Cassinijevi podaci sugeriraju da voda leži oko 40 kilometara ispod ledene kore mjeseca odnosno iznad stjenovite unutrašnjosti mjeseca.

Znanstvenici su uočili da s ogoljelog područja južnog pola mjeseca Enceladusa prema svemiru izbijaju mineralima bogati mlazovi slane pare i kristala leda iz podzemnog oceana. Nakon što je sonda preletjela iznad mjeseca omogućila je znanstvenicima da mjerenjima otkriju gravitacijski signal vode, objavljeno je u časopisu Science.

"Mjerenja koja smo obavili u skladu su postojanjem velikog vodenog rezervoara veličine najvećeg od Velikih jezera u Sjevernoj Americi", kazao je talijanski profesor Luciano Iess za BBC, odnosno vodene mase oko 245 puta veće od Lago di Garda u Italiji.

To otkriće pokazuje da bi mjesec širok oko 500 kilometara mogao biti uz Zemlju najbolje mjesto na kojem bi mogao postojati život mikroorganizama.

Cassinijevi podaci sugeriraju da voda leži oko 40 kilometara ispod ledene kore mjeseca odnosno iznad stjenovite unutrašnjosti mjeseca.

Nova mjerenja Nasine sonde Cassini pokazala su da ispod ledene površine Saturnova mjeseca postoje ogromne zalihe vode, objavili su američki i talijanski znanstvenici koji tu količinu vode nazivaju oceanom.
