Timothy Ray Brown, Amerikanac koji je postao poznat kao "berlinski pacijent“, odnosno prva osoba na svijetu koja se izliječila od side, boluje od karcinoma i nalazi se u terminalnoj fazi bolesti, objavljuju strani mediji.

Brown je prije 12 godina imao transplantaciju od davatelja s rijetkom, prirodnom rezistencijom na virus AIDS-a, što je izliječilo njegovu leukemiju i HIV infekciju. Znakove HIV-a i dalje ne pokazuje, međutim leukemija je očito bila neumoljiva.
U intervjuu za Associated Press, Brown je rekao da se njegov rak vratio prošle godine i da se široko proširio. Trenutno se nalazi u hospiciju u Palm Springsu.

- Otvorio sam vrata koja su dugo bila zatvorena i nadahnuo znanstvenike da rade napornije kako bi pronašli lijek, za koji su mnogi mislili da nije moguć - rekao je ovaj 54-godišnjak.

- Timothy je dokazao da se HIV može izliječiti, ali to nije ono što me nadahnjuje kod njega. Uzimali smo mu uzorke crijeva, limfnih čvorova... Svaki put kad bi se od njega zatražilo da nešto učini, pojavio se s nevjerojatnom gracioznošću - rekao je dr. Steven Deeks, specijalist za AIDS na Sveučilištu Kalifornija u San Franciscu, koji je zajedno s Brownom radio na daljnjem istraživanju lijeka.

Svoj identitet Brown nije otkrio sve do 2010. godine kada je postao javna osoba, dajući intervjue i govoreći na konferencijama.
Nakon njega, još je jedna osoba izliječena od HIV-a istom metodom i ta je osoba poznata kao "londonski pacijent".

Timothy Ray Brown, Amerikanac koji je postao poznat kao "berlinski pacijent“, odnosno prva osoba na svijetu koja se izliječila od side, boluje od karcinoma i nalazi se u terminalnoj fazi bolesti, objavljuju strani mediji.

Brown je prije 12 godina imao transplantaciju od davatelja s rijetkom, prirodnom rezistencijom na virus AIDS-a, što je izliječilo njegovu leukemiju i HIV infekciju. Znakove HIV-a i dalje ne pokazuje, međutim leukemija je očito bila neumoljiva.
U intervjuu za Associated Press, Brown je rekao da se njegov rak vratio prošle godine i da se široko proširio. Trenutno se nalazi u hospiciju u Palm Springsu.

- Otvorio sam vrata koja su dugo bila zatvorena i nadahnuo znanstvenike da rade napornije kako bi pronašli lijek, za koji su mnogi mislili da nije moguć - rekao je ovaj 54-godišnjak.

- Timothy je dokazao da se HIV može izliječiti, ali to nije ono što me nadahnjuje kod njega. Uzimali smo mu uzorke crijeva, limfnih čvorova... Svaki put kad bi se od njega zatražilo da nešto učini, pojavio se s nevjerojatnom gracioznošću - rekao je dr. Steven Deeks, specijalist za AIDS na Sveučilištu Kalifornija u San Franciscu, koji je zajedno s Brownom radio na daljnjem istraživanju lijeka.

Svoj identitet Brown nije otkrio sve do 2010. godine kada je postao javna osoba, dajući intervjue i govoreći na konferencijama.
Nakon njega, još je jedna osoba izliječena od HIV-a istom metodom i ta je osoba poznata kao "londonski pacijent".

Timothy Ray Brown, Amerikanac koji je postao poznat kao "berlinski pacijent“, odnosno prva osoba na svijetu koja se izliječila od side, boluje od karcinoma i nalazi se u terminalnoj fazi bolesti, objavljuju strani mediji.

Brown je prije 12 godina imao transplantaciju od davatelja s rijetkom, prirodnom rezistencijom na virus AIDS-a, što je izliječilo njegovu leukemiju i HIV infekciju. Znakove HIV-a i dalje ne pokazuje, međutim leukemija je očito bila neumoljiva.
U intervjuu za Associated Press, Brown je rekao da se njegov rak vratio prošle godine i da se široko proširio. Trenutno se nalazi u hospiciju u Palm Springsu.
