Susan Williams je otkrila da je njezin suprug, slavni glumac Robin Williams, počinio samoubojstvo jer je patio od progresivne bolesti mozga, u medicini poznate pod nazivom demencija Lewyjevih tjelešaca (DLB).
Nakon što je slavni glumac sebi oduzeo život, pretpostavljalo se da je tome kumovala dugogodišnja borba s depresijom.
U emotivnom razgovoru u televizijskoj emisiji Good Morning America, Susan Williams je rekla da je depresija bila samo jedan od simptoma bolesti.
"Nije depresija ubila Robina. To je samo jedan od, recimo, pedeset simptoma, jedan od manjih".
DLB se često pogrešno dijagnosticira, a uzrokuje progresivno propadanje mentalnih sposobnosti.
Ranije mu je dijagnosticirana i Parkinsonova bolest
Bolest je potvrđena tek nakon autopsije, iako je Susan Williams rekla da je Robin tjedan dana prije suicida imao zakazan liječnički pregled neurokognitivnih funkcija.
Nedugo prije Williamsu je dijagnosticirana Parkinsonova bolest i u kombinaciji s demencijom, poznatom su glumcu bolesti postale pretežak teret.
"Nosio se tim najbolje što je mogao, ali zadnjeg mjeseca života više nije mogao. Bilo je to kao da je pukla brana", rekla je njegova supruga.
Nije mu ostalo puno života
Susan Williams je otkrila da se Robin ionako ne bi bio još dugo mučio sa svojim bolestima.
"U najboljem slučaju, pred sobom je imao možda još tri godine života. I to bi bile tri teške godine. Vjerojatno bi morao biti smješten u neku ustanovu", rekla je.
DLB je treća najčešća među bolestima demencije. Za nju je karakteristična kombinacija simptoma Alzheimerove demencije i Parkinsonove bolesti koje se mogu javiti u različitim varijacijama, ovisno o težini simptoma.
Ime je dobila po modificiranim proteinskim tjelešcima koje je 1912. godine dr. Friedrich Lewy pronašao u stanicama mozga osoba oboljelih od Parkinsonove bolesti.

Susan Williams je otkrila da je njezin suprug, slavni glumac Robin Williams, počinio samoubojstvo jer je patio od progresivne bolesti mozga, u medicini poznate pod nazivom demencija Lewyjevih tjelešaca (DLB).
Nakon što je slavni glumac sebi oduzeo život, pretpostavljalo se da je tome kumovala dugogodišnja borba s depresijom.
U emotivnom razgovoru u televizijskoj emisiji Good Morning America, Susan Williams je rekla da je depresija bila samo jedan od simptoma bolesti.
"Nije depresija ubila Robina. To je samo jedan od, recimo, pedeset simptoma, jedan od manjih".
DLB se često pogrešno dijagnosticira, a uzrokuje progresivno propadanje mentalnih sposobnosti.
Ranije mu je dijagnosticirana i Parkinsonova bolest
Bolest je potvrđena tek nakon autopsije, iako je Susan Williams rekla da je Robin tjedan dana prije suicida imao zakazan liječnički pregled neurokognitivnih funkcija.
Nedugo prije Williamsu je dijagnosticirana Parkinsonova bolest i u kombinaciji s demencijom, poznatom su glumcu bolesti postale pretežak teret.
"Nosio se tim najbolje što je mogao, ali zadnjeg mjeseca života više nije mogao. Bilo je to kao da je pukla brana", rekla je njegova supruga.
Nije mu ostalo puno života
Susan Williams je otkrila da se Robin ionako ne bi bio još dugo mučio sa svojim bolestima.
"U najboljem slučaju, pred sobom je imao možda još tri godine života. I to bi bile tri teške godine. Vjerojatno bi morao biti smješten u neku ustanovu", rekla je.
DLB je treća najčešća među bolestima demencije. Za nju je karakteristična kombinacija simptoma Alzheimerove demencije i Parkinsonove bolesti koje se mogu javiti u različitim varijacijama, ovisno o težini simptoma.
Ime je dobila po modificiranim proteinskim tjelešcima koje je 1912. godine dr. Friedrich Lewy pronašao u stanicama mozga osoba oboljelih od Parkinsonove bolesti.
