U američkom selu naziva Odd, što znači čudno, u Zapadnoj Virginiji živi obitelj Whittaker, najincestuoznija obitelj u SAD-u.

"To je potpuno van kontrole. Ti ljudi šetaju okolo, oči im gledaju u suprotnim smjerovima, laju na nas, reže. Jedan tip, samo ga pogledate u oči, ili mu nešto kažete, samo krene vrištati. Potom se da u bijeg, dok mu hlače padaju do koljena", opisao je njihovo ponašanje fotograf Mark Laita, čovjek koji je s njima proveo neko vrijeme, prenose 24 Sata.

Laita je ovu obitelj upoznao 2004. godine, a 2020. ih je posjetio i o njima napravio kratki dokumentarac. Te godine obitelj je brojala samo tri člana: Timmyja, Lorraine i Raya, a s njima je u kući bila i Betty, za koju tvrde da im je "sestrična". Navodno ih postoji još nekoliko, ali Laita to nije uspio potvrditi ni demantirati. Nažalost ni oni sami nisu sigurni u to kako izgleda njihovo obiteljsko stablo, odnosno kako je tko od njih obiteljski povezan. ---

Iako su mediji tvrdili da su roditelji ovih ljudi bili brat i sestra, Laita je saznao da su oni bili dvostruki prvi rođaci, odnosno da su dijelili oba para djeda i bake. Genetske komplikacije koje su nastale incestom rezultirale su višestrukim poremećajima u njihovom ponašanju. 

Laita je obitelj fotografirao 2004. godine, a tijekom cijelog sljedećeg desetljeća stjecao je njihovo povjerenje.

- U to vrijeme htio sam ih fotografirati za svoju knjigu "Stvoreni jednaki", ali susjedi se ponašaju zaštitnički prema njima. Prijetili su nam sačmaricom. Ne žele da ih se ismijava. Na kraju su mi dopustili da ih fotografiram, a dio fotografija ostavio sam im na poklon, rekao je Laita, koji je pokrenuo i akciju prikupljanja novca za obitelj.

- Ako im se nešto ne sviđa, onda će vikati na vas, kažu njihovi susjedi.

Preživjeli članovi ove obitelji zdravstvene poremećaje ne pripisuju incestu. 

- Možda je to do rudarenja ugljena - odgovara Timmy kad ga pitaju o zdravstvenim problemima obitelji. On je jedan od rijetkih u obitelji koji su pohađali srednju školu. Neki od članova obitelji, s druge strane, ne znaju pričati - nego komuniciraju lajanjem. 

Uvjeti u kojima žive su, malo je reći, teški. Kuća je prepuna smeća, imaju nekoliko ljubimaca, a većinu vremena provode na trijemu ispred kuće.

Iako je incest ilegalan u cijelom SAD-u, njegova definicija, kao i definicija onoga što je kažnjivo varira od države do države u SAD-u.

U američkom selu naziva Odd, što znači čudno, u Zapadnoj Virginiji živi obitelj Whittaker, najincestuoznija obitelj u SAD-u.

"To je potpuno van kontrole. Ti ljudi šetaju okolo, oči im gledaju u suprotnim smjerovima, laju na nas, reže. Jedan tip, samo ga pogledate u oči, ili mu nešto kažete, samo krene vrištati. Potom se da u bijeg, dok mu hlače padaju do koljena", opisao je njihovo ponašanje fotograf Mark Laita, čovjek koji je s njima proveo neko vrijeme, prenose 24 Sata.

Laita je ovu obitelj upoznao 2004. godine, a 2020. ih je posjetio i o njima napravio kratki dokumentarac. Te godine obitelj je brojala samo tri člana: Timmyja, Lorraine i Raya, a s njima je u kući bila i Betty, za koju tvrde da im je "sestrična". Navodno ih postoji još nekoliko, ali Laita to nije uspio potvrditi ni demantirati. Nažalost ni oni sami nisu sigurni u to kako izgleda njihovo obiteljsko stablo, odnosno kako je tko od njih obiteljski povezan. ---

Iako su mediji tvrdili da su roditelji ovih ljudi bili brat i sestra, Laita je saznao da su oni bili dvostruki prvi rođaci, odnosno da su dijelili oba para djeda i bake. Genetske komplikacije koje su nastale incestom rezultirale su višestrukim poremećajima u njihovom ponašanju. 

Laita je obitelj fotografirao 2004. godine, a tijekom cijelog sljedećeg desetljeća stjecao je njihovo povjerenje.

- U to vrijeme htio sam ih fotografirati za svoju knjigu "Stvoreni jednaki", ali susjedi se ponašaju zaštitnički prema njima. Prijetili su nam sačmaricom. Ne žele da ih se ismijava. Na kraju su mi dopustili da ih fotografiram, a dio fotografija ostavio sam im na poklon, rekao je Laita, koji je pokrenuo i akciju prikupljanja novca za obitelj.

- Ako im se nešto ne sviđa, onda će vikati na vas, kažu njihovi susjedi.

Preživjeli članovi ove obitelji zdravstvene poremećaje ne pripisuju incestu. 

- Možda je to do rudarenja ugljena - odgovara Timmy kad ga pitaju o zdravstvenim problemima obitelji. On je jedan od rijetkih u obitelji koji su pohađali srednju školu. Neki od članova obitelji, s druge strane, ne znaju pričati - nego komuniciraju lajanjem. 

Uvjeti u kojima žive su, malo je reći, teški. Kuća je prepuna smeća, imaju nekoliko ljubimaca, a većinu vremena provode na trijemu ispred kuće.

U američkom selu naziva Odd, što znači čudno, u Zapadnoj Virginiji živi obitelj Whittaker, najincestuoznija obitelj u SAD-u.

"To je potpuno van kontrole. Ti ljudi šetaju okolo, oči im gledaju u suprotnim smjerovima, laju na nas, reže. Jedan tip, samo ga pogledate u oči, ili mu nešto kažete, samo krene vrištati. Potom se da u bijeg, dok mu hlače padaju do koljena", opisao je njihovo ponašanje fotograf Mark Laita, čovjek koji je s njima proveo neko vrijeme, prenose 24 Sata.

Laita je ovu obitelj upoznao 2004. godine, a 2020. ih je posjetio i o njima napravio kratki dokumentarac. Te godine obitelj je brojala samo tri člana: Timmyja, Lorraine i Raya, a s njima je u kući bila i Betty, za koju tvrde da im je "sestrična". Navodno ih postoji još nekoliko, ali Laita to n...
