U mladih žena koje su u tinejdžerskoj dobi cijepljene protiv humanog papiloma virusa (HPV) starijom vrstom GlaxoSmithKlineova cjepiva Cervarix, uočen je do 87 posto manji rizik od razvoja raka vrata maternice povezanog s virusom, pokazala je dugogodišnja engleska studija.
Rezultati istraživanja su pokazali da je, u vrijeme kad su cijepljene žene bile u svojim dvadesetima, u onih koje su primile seriju cjepiva u dobi od 12 do 13 godina, stopa raka vrata maternice bila 87 posto niža u odnosu na necijepljene žene koje su ušle u probir na maligna oboljenja.
U cijepljenih u dobi od 14 do 16 godina života stopa raka vrata maternice u njihovim dvadesetim bila je za 62 posto niža, a u grupi cijepljenoj između 16 i 18 godine života ta je stopa bila niža za 34 posto.
Podaci su objavljeni u stručnome medicinskom časopisu The Lancet.
Stopa prekanceroznih stanja smanjena je ukupno za 97 posto u slučaju kad su djevojčice cjepivo dobile u dobi od 12 i 13 godina, također je pokazala studija.
Istraživači kažu da bi njezini rezultati "trebali uvelike uvjeriti sve one koji još uvijek oklijevaju u prednosti cijepljenja mladih protiv HPV-a".
U sklopu istraživanja, koje je financirala udruga Cancer Research UK, proučavani su podaci registrirani u razdoblju od siječnja 2006. do lipnja 2019.
Radilo se o ženama testiranim na rak vrata maternice u dobi od 20 do 64 godine, uključujući i sve one koje su cijepljene Cervarixom nakon što je postao dostupan na tržištu 2008. godine.
Tijekom gotovo trinaestogodišnjeg razdoblja u Engleskoj je zabilježeno oko 28.000 dijagnoza raka vrata maternice i 300.000 dijagnoza prekanceroznog stanja koji se naziva cervikalna intraepitelna neoplazija (CIN3), pokazali su podaci.
U mladih cijepljenih žena uočeno je oko 450 manje slučajeva raka vrata maternice i 17.200 manje slučajeva dijagnoze CIN3 nego u necijepljenih žena iste životne dobi.
"Nadamo se da će novi rezultati naše studije potaknuti mlade žene na cijepljenje jer se uspjeh čitavog programa cijepljenja ne oslanja samo na učinkovitost cjepiva već i na udio cijepljene populacije", rekla je koautorica studije Kate Soldan iz britanske zdravstvene agencije.
Cervarix, koji je razvio GSK, štiti od razvoja dvaju tipova HPV-a, odgovornih za otprilike 70 do 80 posto svih karcinoma vrata maternice.
Od rujna 2012. u Engleskoj se umjesto Cervarixa koristi četverovalentno cjepivo Gardasil farmaceutske tvrtke Merck&Co, koje štiti od četiriju tipova HPV-a povezanih s razvojem raka vrata maternice i raka endometrija.
GSK je prestao prodavati Cervarix u Sjedinjenim Državama zbog niske potražnje, nakon pojave Gardasila koji dominira na tom najunosnijem svjetskom tržištu.
Rak vrata maternice rijedak je u mladih žena, a da bi se u potpunosti procijenio učinak cjepiva, treba nastaviti pratiti njihovo zdravlje i u starijoj životnoj dobi, piše Lancet.

U mladih žena koje su u tinejdžerskoj dobi cijepljene protiv humanog papiloma virusa (HPV) starijom vrstom GlaxoSmithKlineova cjepiva Cervarix, uočen je do 87 posto manji rizik od razvoja raka vrata maternice povezanog s virusom, pokazala je dugogodišnja engleska studija.
Rezultati istraživanja su pokazali da je, u vrijeme kad su cijepljene žene bile u svojim dvadesetima, u onih koje su primile seriju cjepiva u dobi od 12 do 13 godina, stopa raka vrata maternice bila 87 posto niža u odnosu na necijepljene žene koje su ušle u probir na maligna oboljenja.
U cijepljenih u dobi od 14 do 16 godina života stopa raka vrata maternice u njihovim dvadesetim bila je za 62 posto niža, a u grupi cijepljenoj između 16 i 18 godine života ta je stopa bila niža za 34 posto.
Podaci su objavljeni u stručnome medicinskom časopisu The Lancet.
Stopa prekanceroznih stanja smanjena je ukupno za 97 posto u slučaju kad su djevojčice cjepivo dobile u dobi od 12 i 13 godina, također je pokazala studija.
Istraživači kažu da bi njezini rezultati "trebali uvelike uvjeriti sve one koji još uvijek oklijevaju u prednosti cijepljenja mladih protiv HPV-a".
U sklopu istraživanja, koje je financirala udruga Cancer Research UK, proučavani su podaci registrirani u razdoblju od siječnja 2006. do lipnja 2019.
Radilo se o ženama testiranim na rak vrata maternice u dobi od 20 do 64 godine, uključujući i sve one koje su cijepljene Cervarixom nakon što je postao dostupan na tržištu 2008. godine.
Tijekom gotovo trinaestogodišnjeg razdoblja u Engleskoj je zabilježeno oko 28.000 dijagnoza raka vrata maternice i 300.000 dijagnoza prekanceroznog stanja koji se naziva cervikalna intraepitelna neoplazija (CIN3), pokazali su podaci.
U mladih cijepljenih žena uočeno je oko 450 manje slučajeva raka vrata maternice i 17.200 manje slučajeva dijagnoze CIN3 nego u necijepljenih žena iste životne dobi.
"Nadamo se da će novi rezultati naše studije potaknuti mlade žene na cijepljenje jer se uspjeh čitavog programa cijepljenja ne oslanja samo na učinkovitost cjepiva već i na udio cijepljene populacije", rekla je koautorica studije Kate Soldan iz britanske zdravstvene agencije.
Cervarix, koji je razvio GSK, štiti od razvoja dvaju tipova HPV-a, odgovornih za otprilike 70 do 80 posto svih karcinoma vrata maternice.
Od rujna 2012. u Engleskoj se umjesto Cervarixa koristi četverovalentno cjepivo Gardasil farmaceutske tvrtke Merck&Co, koje štiti od četiriju tipova HPV-a povezanih s razvojem raka vrata maternice i raka endometrija.
GSK je prestao prodavati Cervarix u Sjedinjenim Državama zbog niske potražnje, nakon pojave Gardasila koji dominira na tom najunosnijem svjetskom tržištu.
Rak vrata maternice rijedak je u mladih žena, a da bi se u potpunosti procijenio učinak cjepiva, treba nastaviti pratiti njihovo zdravlje i u starijoj životnoj dobi, piše Lancet.
