European Cancer Organisation, najveća multiprofesionalna organizacija za borbu protiv raka u Europi, objavila je kako procjenjuju da zbog Covid-19 pandemije nije dijagnosticirano oko milijun slučajeva raka u Europi, piše Jutarnji list.

Stoga pokreću kampanju Time to Act kojom se poziva javnost, pacijente oboljele od raka, zakonodavce i zdravstvene stručnjake da se pobrinu da virus Covid-19 ne nastavi slabiti borbu protiv raka.

Osim što su procijenili kako u Europi nije dijagnosticirano milijun slučajeva raka European Cancer Organisation procjenjuje kako je propušteno 100 milijuna pregleda za rano otkrivanje raka tijekom pandemije. To je dovelo do dijagnoza u kasnijim, težim stadijima bolesti te do niže stope preživljavanja. Tvrde kako jedna do dvije osobe s mogućim simptomima raka nije žurno poslana na dijagnostički pregled, dok svaki peti pacijent oboljeli od raka u Europi još uvijek ne prima potrebnu kiruršku terapiju ili kemoterapiju. Ukupno je u klinikama u Europi u prvoj godini pandemije zabilježeno 1,5 milijuna osoba oboljelih od raka, što je, naravno nemoguće. U veljači 2021. procijenjeno je kako se po 100.000 slučajeva raka ne dijagnosticira svaki mjesec.

Ovi dramatični podaci European Cancer Organisation otvaraju pitanje je li doista moguće da će zbog propuštenih pregleda, terapija i zahvata tijekom pandemije u EU umrijeti više ljudi nego što ih je umrlo od Covid-19 bolesti. Naravno da neće umrijeti svih milijun ljudi kojima nije dijagnosticiran rak, ali treba voditi računa kako postoji niz drugih ozbiljnih bolesti koje mogu voditi do najtežeg ishoda ako se ne krene s pravovremenim terapijama i(ili) zahvatima.

Vrlo je vjerojatno da će se značajno skratiti život mnogih građana koji bolu od, primjerice, srčanih i krvožilnih bolesti ili dijabetesa, zbog izostalih pregleda i terapija, ali te prerane smrti kumulirat će se tek u godinama koje dolaze, i to kad, vjerojatno, pandemija više neće biti aktualna. Vrlo je teško procijeniti koliko će ljudi izgubiti život zbog izostalih medicinskih usluga i intervencija tijekom pandemije, ali postaje očigledno kako je taj problem bio jako podcijenjen. Pri tome je jasno kako se nije moglo dopustiti da SARS-CoV-2 virus hara bolnicama, ali su kasnija iskustva pokazala kako dvoznamenkasti postotci pada u outputu bolničkog sustava, što je bio slučaj i u Hrvatskoj, nisu bili potrebni za obranu od virusa. Dio pobornika oštrih mjera naglašava kako su osobe koje su zbog pandemije morale propustiti preglede, terapije i zahvate također žrtve virusa, ali ta teza podcjenjuje činjenicu da virus ipak nije odgovoran za neadekvatnu organizaciju nego za paniku koja je uzrok nedovoljno dobre organizacije zdravstvene skrbi za vrijeme pandemije.

Ono što je utješno tijekom pandemije jest da je značajni broj liječnika i pacijenata prihvatio savjetovanje na daljinu kao novu praksu.

Time To Act je kampanja u kojoj se europski građani potiču da daju svoj osobni doprinos; pripaze na uobičajene rane znakove raka (npr. krvarenje pri obavljanju nužde, kvržica na dojci, poteškoće pri gutanju, neočekivan gubitak težine) i odmah se obrate svom liječniku ako uoče sumnjive simptome. Odlazak na zakazane preglede za rano otkrivanje raka od ključne je važnosti za povećavanje vjerojatnosti rane dijagnoze kada se rak može učinkovito liječiti.

Objava European Cancer Organisation do sada je najdramatičniji apel na europskoj razini koji ukazuje na krupne greške u pristupu zdravstvenoj skrbi tijekom pandemije. To se pogotovo odnosi na prvi dio pandemije 2020. godine kada strah od širenja infekcija u bolnicama nije zaustavio samo značajni dio hitnih pregleda i terapija za rak, nego i za cijeli niz drugih bolesti.

European Cancer Organisation, najveća multiprofesionalna organizacija za borbu protiv raka u Europi, objavila je kako procjenjuju da zbog Covid-19 pandemije nije dijagnosticirano oko milijun slučajeva raka u Europi, piše Jutarnji list.

Stoga pokreću kampanju Time to Act kojom se poziva javnost, pacijente oboljele od raka, zakonodavce i zdravstvene stručnjake da se pobrinu da virus Covid-19 ne nastavi slabiti borbu protiv raka.

Osim što su procijenili kako u Europi nije dijagnosticirano milijun slučajeva raka European Cancer Organisation procjenjuje kako je propušteno 100 milijuna pregleda za rano otkrivanje raka tijekom pandemije. To je dovelo do dijagnoza u kasnijim, težim stadijima bolesti te do niže stope preživljavanja. Tvrde kako jedna do dvije osobe s mogućim simptomima raka nije žurno poslana na dijagnostički pregled, dok svaki peti pacijent oboljeli od raka u Europi još uvijek ne prima potrebnu kiruršku terapiju ili kemoterapiju. Ukupno je u klinikama u Europi u prvoj godini pandemije zabilježeno 1,5 milijuna osoba oboljelih od raka, što je, naravno nemoguće. U veljači 2021. procijenjeno je kako se po 100.000 slučajeva raka ne dijagnosticira svaki mjesec.

Ovi dramatični podaci European Cancer Organisation otvaraju pitanje je li doista moguće da će zbog propuštenih pregleda, terapija i zahvata tijekom pandemije u EU umrijeti više ljudi nego što ih je umrlo od Covid-19 bolesti. Naravno da neće umrijeti svih milijun ljudi kojima nije dijagnosticiran rak, ali treba voditi računa kako postoji niz drugih ozbiljnih bolesti koje mogu voditi do najtežeg ishoda ako se ne krene s pravovremenim terapijama i(ili) zahvatima.

Vrlo je vjerojatno da će se značajno skratiti život mnogih građana koji bolu od, primjerice, srčanih i krvožilnih bolesti ili dijabetesa, zbog izostalih pregleda i terapija, ali te prerane smrti kumulirat će se tek u godinama koje dolaze, i to kad, vjerojatno, pandemija više neće biti aktualna. Vrlo je teško procijeniti koliko će ljudi izgubiti život zbog izostalih medicinskih usluga i intervencija tijekom pandemije, ali postaje očigledno kako je taj problem bio jako podcijenjen. Pri tome je jasno kako se nije moglo dopustiti da SARS-CoV-2 virus hara bolnicama, ali su kasnija iskustva pokazala kako dvoznamenkasti postotci pada u outputu bolničkog sustava, što je bio slučaj i u Hrvatskoj, nisu bili potrebni za obranu od virusa. Dio pobornika oštrih mjera naglašava kako su osobe koje su zbog pandemije morale propustiti preglede, terapije i zahvate također žrtve virusa, ali ta teza podcjenjuje činjenicu da virus ipak nije odgovoran za neadekvatnu organizaciju nego za paniku koja je uzrok nedovoljno dobre organizacije zdravstvene skrbi za vrijeme pandemije.

Ono što je utješno tijekom pandemije jest da je značajni broj liječnika i pacijenata prihvatio savjetovanje na daljinu kao novu praksu.

Time To Act je kampanja u kojoj se europski građani potiču da daju svoj osobni doprinos; pripaze na uobičajene rane znakove raka (npr. krvarenje pri obavljanju nužde, kvržica na dojci, poteškoće pri gutanju, neočekivan gubitak težine) i odmah se obrate svom liječniku ako uoče sumnjive simptome. Odlazak na zakazane preglede za rano otkrivanje raka od ključne je važnosti za povećavanje vjerojatnosti rane dijagnoze kada se rak može učinkovito liječiti.

Objava European Cancer Organisation do sada je najdramatičniji apel na europskoj razini koji ukazuje na krupne greške u pristupu zdravstvenoj skrbi tijekom pandemije. To se pogotovo odnosi na prvi dio pandemije 2020. godine kada strah od širenja infekcija u bolnicama nije zaustavio samo značajni dio hitnih pregleda i terapija za rak, nego i za cijeli niz drugih bolesti.
