Makadamija potječe iz Australije i prvi su je doseljenici iz Europe nazivali orahom Queenslanda. Do sredine 19. stoljeća, kada je prvi opisuje jedan njemački botaničar, njezine su plodove jeli isključivo starosjedioci. Zanimljivo je da joj je on nadjenuo ime makadamija po prezimenu svog australskog prijatelja, piše Živim.

Odlična užina

Makadamija je cijenjena po izuzetnom okusu i među orašastim plodovima najbolji je izvor ulja. Od masnih kiselina značajan se udio odnosi na alfa-linolensku i oleinsku kiselinu. Oleinska kiselina otpornija je na oksidaciju nego višestruko nezasićene kiseline (npr. linolna). Kada se uključi u prehranu, ugrađuje se u stanične membrane čineći ih otpornijima na djelovanje peroksida, oksidaciju i oštećenja.

Dokazano je da prisutnost makadamije u jelovniku smanjuje masnoće i LDL kolesterol u krvi, čime štiti zdravlje srca. Korisno ju je stoga dodati u salate, žitarice za doručak ili različite vegetarijanske namaze, a uza sve to bolja je užina od čipsa.

Regulira probavu

Vlakna su važna za regulaciju zdrave probave. Više vlakana u prehrani i dovoljno vode općenito se savjetuju za zdravlje crijeva, no valja znati da je potrebno postupno povećavati količinu vlakana.

Poboljšava zdravlje mozga

Makadamija orah sadrži korisnu vrstu vitamina E kao što je tokotrienol za koji se pokazalo da može pomoći u održavanju i poboljšanju zdravlja mozga. Dodavanjem ovog oraha u prehranu smanjuje se rizik i usporava napredovanje Alzheimerove bolesti i demecije.

Makadamija potječe iz Australije i prvi su je doseljenici iz Europe nazivali orahom Queenslanda. Do sredine 19. stoljeća, kada je prvi opisuje jedan njemački botaničar, njezine su plodove jeli isključivo starosjedioci. Zanimljivo je da joj je on nadjenuo ime makadamija po prezimenu svog australskog prijatelja, piše Živim.

Odlična užina

Makadamija je cijenjena po izuzetnom okusu i među orašastim plodovima najbolji je izvor ulja. Od masnih kiselina značajan se udio odnosi na alfa-linolensku i oleinsku kiselinu. Oleinska kiselina otpornija je na oksidaciju nego višestruko nezasićene kiseline (npr. linolna). Kada se uključi u prehranu, ugrađuje se u stanične membrane čineći ih otpornijima na djelovanje peroksida, oksidaciju i oštećenja.

Dokazano je da prisutnost makadamije u jelovniku smanjuje masnoće i LDL kolesterol u krvi, čime štiti zdravlje srca. Korisno ju je stoga dodati u salate, žitarice za doručak ili različite vegetarijanske namaze, a uza sve to bolja je užina od čipsa.

Regulira probavu

Vlakna su važna za regulaciju zdrave probave. Više vlakana u prehrani i dovoljno vode općenito se savjetuju za zdravlje crijeva, no valja znati da je potrebno postupno povećavati količinu vlakana.

Poboljšava zdravlje mozga

Makadamija orah sadrži korisnu vrstu vitamina E kao što je tokotrienol za koji se pokazalo da može pomoći u održavanju i poboljšanju zdravlja mozga. Dodavanjem ovog oraha u prehranu smanjuje se rizik i usporava napredovanje Alzheimerove bolesti i demecije.
