Dijabetes tipa 2 često se pojavljuje udružen s drugim bolestima povezanim sa stilom života, poput visokog tlaka ili pretilosti, a liječnici su desetljećima govorili ljudima oboljelim od dijabetesa da izgube na težini kako bi pokušali riješiti svoj problem.

No gubitak kilograma nije dovoljan, kažu znanstvenici i liječnici s Kineskog sveučilišta u Hong Kongu koji su proučavali utjecaj gubitka kilograma na 37.000 pacijenata s dijabetesom.

"Vrlo malo pacijenata s dijagnosticiranim dijabetesom tipa 2 može postići normalnu razinu glukoze u krvi samo gubitkom tjelesne težine", navodi tim, čiji su nalazi objavljeni u medicinskom časopisu PLOS Medicine u siječnju.

Klinička ispitivanja su u prošlosti sugerirala da mršavljenje može djelovati samo po sebi, ali učinci u stvarnom svijetu nisu ispravno testirani, prema liječnicima iz Hong Konga, koji su rekli da se samo mršavljenje pokazalo manje učinkovito kada se pratilo izvan kliničkih ispitivanja.

"Jedan od razloga za odstupanje od kliničkih ispitivanja je to što njihovi sudionici dobivaju snažnu holističku podršku za promjene u načinu života, uključujući za promjene u prehrani, vježbanje i za mentalno zdravlje", objasnili su znanstvenici. To se izvan kliničkih ispitivanja ne događa.

Oko 400 milijuna ljudi širom svijeta pati od dijabetesa, problema koji se proširio posljednjih desetljeća budući da ljudi manje vježbaju i jedu više procesuirane hrane.

Dijabetes tipa 2 često se pojavljuje udružen s drugim bolestima povezanim sa stilom života, poput visokog tlaka ili pretilosti, a liječnici su desetljećima govorili ljudima oboljelim od dijabetesa da izgube na težini kako bi pokušali riješiti svoj problem.

No gubitak kilograma nije dovoljan, kažu znanstvenici i liječnici s Kineskog sveučilišta u Hong Kongu koji su proučavali utjecaj gubitka kilograma na 37.000 pacijenata s dijabetesom.

"Vrlo malo pacijenata s dijagnosticiranim dijabetesom tipa 2 može postići normalnu razinu glukoze u krvi samo gubitkom tjelesne težine", navodi tim, čiji su nalazi objavljeni u medicinskom časopisu PLOS Medicine u siječnju.

Klinička ispitivanja su u prošlosti sugerirala da mršavljenje može djelovati samo po sebi, ali učinci u stvarnom svijetu nisu ispravno testirani, prema liječnicima iz Hong Konga, koji su rekli da se samo mršavljenje pokazalo manje učinkovito kada se pratilo izvan kliničkih ispitivanja.

"Jedan od razloga za odstupanje od kliničkih ispitivanja je to što njihovi sudionici dobivaju snažnu holističku podršku za promjene u načinu života, uključujući za promjene u prehrani, vježbanje i za mentalno zdravlje", objasnili su znanstvenici. To se izvan kliničkih ispitivanja ne događa.

Oko 400 milijuna ljudi širom svijeta pati od dijabetesa, problema koji se proširio posljednjih desetljeća budući da ljudi manje vježbaju i jedu više procesuirane hrane.
