Cijepljene osobe s ovisnostima mogu biti izložene većem riziku obolijevanja od covida-19, pokazala je nova američka studija.

Ranije istraživanje provedeno u vrijeme pandemije pokazalo je da su osobe sa ovisnostima imale veću vjerojatnost da će se zaraziti i doživjeti ozbiljne komplikacije zbog covida-19.

Sada, unatoč odmakloj kampanji cijepljenja, ta ista populacija u SAD-u i dalje je u opasnosti, prema studiji koju su proveli znanstvenici sa Sveučilišta Case Western i Nacionalnog instituta za zlouporabu droga.

Posljednjih godinu i pol bilo je posebno teško za ovisnike, kako zbog povećanog rizika od covida-a tako i zbog sve većeg broja predoziranja. Zbog predoziranja je u 2020. umrlo više od 93.000 ljudi. 

Iako je cjepivo još uvijek visoko učinkovito i rizik od infekcije relativno nizak, znanstvenici vjeruju da velika prevalencija drugih istodobnih zdravstvenih problema među ovisnicima može biti povezana s povećanim rizikom covida-19.

Kad su autori studije uzeli u obzir nepovoljne socioekonomske čimbenike po zdravlje - poput problema s zapošljavanjem i stanovanjem i komorbiditete, rizik od infekcija za ljude sa i bez ovisnosti bio je isti.

Jedina iznimka bila je kod onih koji su uzimali kanabis - općenito mlađa skupina pacijenata za koje se pokazalo da će vjerojatnije razviti bolest, čak i nakon što su znanstvenici uzeli u obzir druge čimbenike.

"To može ukazivati ​​na to da bi dodatne varijable, poput čimbenika ponašanja ili štetnih učinaka kanabisa na plućnu i imunosnu funkciju, mogli pridonijeti većem riziku od obolijevanja u ovoj skupini", napisali su autori studije.

U okviru studije ispitano je više od 579.000 ljudi potpuno cijepljenih protiv covid-a u razdoblju od prosinca 2020. do kolovoza 2021.

U toj skupini 30.183 pacijenata dijagnosticirano je s ovisnostima.

Studija je otkrila da se 7 posto ovisnika zarazilo koronavirusom najmanje 14 dana nakon druge doze cjepiva, u usporedbi s 3,6 posto ljudi bez ovisnostii.

Znanstvenici su otkrili da su ovisne osobe također imale veću vjerojatnost da će doživjeti teži oblik covida.

Autori studije priznali su neka ograničenja, uključujući to da se cjepiva protiv koronavirusa uzeta izvan zdravstvenih organizacija, poput klinika za masovna cjepiva ili ljekarni, možda neće pojaviti u elektroničkim zdravstvenim zapisima koji se koriste za provođenje studije.

Znanstvenici iz podataka nisu mogli zaključiti je su li  slučajevi covida-19 bio asimptomatski, simptomatski odnosno vrlo teški oblici bolesti te radi li se uvijek o vrlo zaraznoj delta varijanti.

Ipak, rekla je Rong Xu, profesorica biomedicinske informatike na Case Westernu i jedna od autora studije, nalazi pokazuju da je ta ranjiva skupina i dalje u opasnosti od virusa.

"Populacija s ovisnostima ima puno komorbiditeta, što ih čini ranjivima na druge bolesti", rekla je Xu.

Prema njezinim riječima, važno je liječiti uporabu supstanci s gledišta fizičkog zdravlja, kao i ponašanja.

"Ne fokusiramo se toliko na dugoročne zdravstvene posljedice upotrebe opojnih tvari na većinu naših tjelesnih sustava, uključujući imuni sustav", rekla je.

U priopćenju za medije prošlog tjedna, ravnateljica NIDA-e Nora Volkow, još jedna autorica studije, naglasila je da bi se osobe s ovisnošću ipak trebale cijepiti, te da je ukupni rizik od covida-19 među cijepljenim članovima grupe još uvijek vrlo nizak.

"Moramo nastaviti poticati i olakšavati cijepljenje protiv covida-19 među osobama s ovisnostima istovremeno imajući na umu da je i nakon cijepljenja ova skupina u povećanom riziku i da bi trebala nastaviti poduzimati zaštitne mjere protiv covida-19", rekla je.

Cijepljene osobe s ovisnostima mogu biti izložene većem riziku obolijevanja od covida-19, pokazala je nova američka studija.

Ranije istraživanje provedeno u vrijeme pandemije pokazalo je da su osobe sa ovisnostima imale veću vjerojatnost da će se zaraziti i doživjeti ozbiljne komplikacije zbog covida-19.

Sada, unatoč odmakloj kampanji cijepljenja, ta ista populacija u SAD-u i dalje je u opasnosti, prema studiji koju su proveli znanstvenici sa Sveučilišta Case Western i Nacionalnog instituta za zlouporabu droga.

Posljednjih godinu i pol bilo je posebno teško za ovisnike, kako zbog povećanog rizika od covida-a tako i zbog sve većeg broja predoziranja. Zbog predoziranja je u 2020. umrlo više od 93.000 ljudi. 

Iako je cjepivo još uvijek visoko učinkovito i rizik od infekcije relativno nizak, znanstvenici vjeruju da velika prevalencija drugih istodobnih zdravstvenih problema među ovisnicima može biti povezana s povećanim rizikom covida-19.

Kad su autori studije uzeli u obzir nepovoljne socioekonomske čimbenike po zdravlje - poput problema s zapošljavanjem i stanovanjem i komorbiditete, rizik od infekcija za ljude sa i bez ovisnosti bio je isti.

Jedina iznimka bila je kod onih koji su uzimali kanabis - općenito mlađa skupina pacijenata za koje se pokazalo da će vjerojatnije razviti bolest, čak i nakon što su znanstvenici uzeli u obzir druge čimbenike.

"To može ukazivati ​​na to da bi dodatne varijable, poput čimbenika ponašanja ili štetnih učinaka kanabisa na plućnu i imunosnu funkciju, mogli pridonijeti većem riziku od obolijevanja u ovoj skupini", napisali su autori studije.

U okviru studije ispitano je više od 579.000 ljudi potpuno cijepljenih protiv covid-a u razdoblju od prosinca 2020. do kolovoza 2021.

U toj skupini 30.183 pacijenata dijagnosticirano je s ovisnostima.

Studija je otkrila da se 7 posto ovisnika zarazilo koronavirusom najmanje 14 dana nakon druge doze cjepiva, u usporedbi s 3,6 posto ljudi bez ovisnostii.

Znanstvenici su otkrili da su ovisne osobe također imale veću vjerojatnost da će doživjeti teži oblik covida.

Autori studije priznali su neka ograničenja, uključujući to da se cjepiva protiv koronavirusa uzeta izvan zdravstvenih organizacija, poput klinika za masovna cjepiva ili ljekarni, možda neće pojaviti u elektroničkim zdravstvenim zapisima koji se koriste za provođenje studije.

Znanstvenici iz podataka nisu mogli zaključiti je su li  slučajevi covida-19 bio asimptomatski, simptomatski odnosno vrlo teški oblici bolesti te radi li se uvijek o vrlo zaraznoj delta varijanti.

Ipak, rekla je Rong Xu, profesorica biomedicinske informatike na Case Westernu i jedna od autora studije, nalazi pokazuju da je ta ranjiva skupina i dalje u opasnosti od virusa.

"Populacija s ovisnostima ima puno komorbiditeta, što ih čini ranjivima na druge bolesti", rekla je Xu.

Prema njezinim riječima, važno je liječiti uporabu supstanci s gledišta fizičkog zdravlja, kao i ponašanja.

"Ne fokusiramo se toliko na dugoročne zdravstvene posljedice upotrebe opojnih tvari na većinu naših tjelesnih sustava, uključujući imuni sustav", rekla je.

U priopćenju za medije prošlog tjedna, ravnateljica NIDA-e Nora Volkow, još jedna autorica studije, naglasila je da bi se osobe s ovisnošću ipak trebale cijepiti, te da je ukupni rizik od covida-19 među cijepljenim članovima grupe još uvijek vrlo nizak.

"Moramo nastaviti poticati i olakšavati cijepljenje protiv covida-19 među osobama s ovisnostima istovremeno imajući na umu da je i nakon cijepljenja ova skupina u povećanom riziku i da bi trebala nastaviti poduzimati zaštitne mjere protiv covida-19", rekla je.

Cijepljene osobe s ovisnostima mogu biti izložene većem riziku obolijevanja od covida-19, pokazala je nova američka studija.

Ranije istraživanje provedeno u vrijeme pandemije pokazalo je da su osobe sa ovisnostima imale veću vjerojatnost da će se zaraziti i doživjeti ozbiljne komplikacije zbog covida-19.

Sada, unatoč odmakloj kampanji cijepljenja, ta ista populacija u SAD-u i dalje je u opasnosti, prema studiji koju su proveli znanstvenici sa Sveučilišta Case Western i Nacionalnog instituta za zlouporabu droga.

Posljednjih godinu i pol bilo je posebno teško za ovisnike, kako zbog povećanog rizika od covida-a tako i zbog sve većeg broja predoziranja. Zbog predoziranja je u 2020. umrlo više od 93.000 ljudi.
