Prije nekoliko godina štene zlatnog tibetanskog mastifa, staro godinu dana, visine 80 centimetara i težine čak 90 kilograma, prodano je za nevjerojatnih dva milijuna dolara. Osim što je štene veoma usrećilo Kineza koji ga je kupio, postalo je najskuplje prodan pas na svijetu, a taj rekord drži i danas, prenosi National Geographic.

Na početku bi bilo dobro napomenuti da termin "mastif", iako je usvojen, možda i ne odgovara najbolje ovom psu, jer on zapravo nije mastif. Taj izraz - mastif - koristio se u zapadnoj Europi za gotovo sve velike rase pasa, pa su ga Europljani, koji su prvi put došli na Tibet, "donijeli" sa sobom. Ime koje bi bolje odgovaralo ovom psu bilo bi "tibetanski planinski pas" ili "himalajski planinski pas". 

Potječe iz nomadskih kultura Tibeta, Kine, Indije, Mongolije i Nepala, a korišten je kao čuvar tibetskih samostana, dok su ga lokalna plemena držala kako bi štitio ovce od vukova, leoparda, medvjeda, velikih kuna i tigrova.

Neki uzgajivači pasa razlikuju dvije "vrste" tibetanskih mastifa. Tibetanci jednu zovu Drog-Khyi što znači "nomadski pas" ili "pas koji se može vezati", "pas koji se može čuvati". Druga vrsta je Tsang-khyi (što na tibetanskom znači samo "pas iz Canga") i odnosi se na "manastirsku" vrstu, opisanu kao generalno višu, težu i mnogo težih kostiju.

Postoji nekoliko legendi o njegovom porijeklu. Jedna od njih kaže da su u centralnu Aziju stigli prateći Atilu Hunskog. Postoji i ona koja kaže da je tibetski mastif "božji pas", jer predstavlja transformaciju tibetanskog svećenika u psa.

U Europi je ova pasmina s lavljom grivom, čija je prosječna težina od 63 do 78 kilograma, a visina od 60 do 70 centimetara, bila nepoznata sve do 1847. godine, kada je jedan primjerak poslan kraljici Viktoriji kao poklon. 

Kao i sve pasmine čuvara ovi su psi jako hrabri, inteligentni i nevjerojatno odani svojoj ljudskoj obitelji. 

Nakon spektakularne prodaje od dva milijuna dolara, uzgajivačnice su se "bacile" na uzgoj ovih pasa, međutim, ispostavilo se da su veoma skupi za održavanje te je njihova slava brzo prošla, piše National Geographic.

Prije nekoliko godina štene zlatnog tibetanskog mastifa, staro godinu dana, visine 80 centimetara i težine čak 90 kilograma, prodano je za nevjerojatnih dva milijuna dolara. Osim što je štene veoma usrećilo Kineza koji ga je kupio, postalo je najskuplje prodan pas na svijetu, a taj rekord drži i danas, prenosi National Geographic.

Na početku bi bilo dobro napomenuti da termin "mastif", iako je usvojen, možda i ne odgovara najbolje ovom psu, jer on zapravo nije mastif. Taj izraz - mastif - koristio se u zapadnoj Europi za gotovo sve velike rase pasa, pa su ga Europljani, koji su prvi put došli na Tibet, "donijeli" sa sobom. Ime koje bi bolje odgovaralo ovom psu bilo bi "tibetanski planinski pas" ili "himalajski planinski pas". 

Potječe iz nomadskih kultura Tibeta, Kine, Indije, Mongolije i Nepala, a korišten je kao čuvar tibetskih samostana, dok su ga lokalna plemena držala kako bi štitio ovce od vukova, leoparda, medvjeda, velikih kuna i tigrova.

Neki uzgajivači pasa razlikuju dvije "vrste" tibetanskih mastifa. Tibetanci jednu zovu Drog-Khyi što znači "nomadski pas" ili "pas koji se može vezati", "pas koji se može čuvati". Druga vrsta je Tsang-khyi (što na tibetanskom znači samo "pas iz Canga") i odnosi se na "manastirsku" vrstu, opisanu kao generalno višu, težu i mnogo težih kostiju.

Postoji nekoliko legendi o njegovom porijeklu. Jedna od njih kaže da su u centralnu Aziju stigli prateći Atilu Hunskog. Postoji i ona koja kaže da je tibetski mastif "božji pas", jer predstavlja transformaciju tibetanskog svećenika u psa.

U Europi je ova pasmina s lavljom grivom, čija je prosječna težina od 63 do 78 kilograma, a visina od 60 do 70 centimetara, bila nepoznata sve do 1847. godine, kada je jedan primjerak poslan kraljici Viktoriji kao poklon. 

Kao i sve pasmine čuvara ovi su psi jako hrabri, inteligentni i nevjerojatno odani svojoj ljudskoj obitelji.

Prije nekoliko godina štene zlatnog tibetanskog mastifa, staro godinu dana, visine 80 centimetara i težine čak 90 kilograma, prodano je za nevjerojatnih dva milijuna dolara. Osim što je štene veoma usrećilo Kineza koji ga je kupio, postalo je najskuplje prodan pas na svijetu, a taj rekord drži i danas, prenosi National Geographic.

Na početku bi bilo dobro napomenuti da termin "mastif", iako je usvojen, možda i ne odgovara najbolje ovom psu, jer on zapravo nije mastif. Taj izraz - mastif - koristio se u zapadnoj Europi za gotovo sve velike rase pasa, pa su ga Europljani, koji su prvi put došli na Tibet, "donijeli" sa sobom. Ime koje bi bolje odgovaralo ovom psu bilo bi "tibetanski planinski pas" ili "himalajski planinski pas".
