Tajno društvo po imenu Niau postoji od davnina u jugoistočnoj Africi i premda danas predstavlja hommage tradiciji, u nekim udaljenim afričkim selima i dalje postoje ljudi koji noću izlaze maskirani i zazivaju boga Chatua, javlja National Geographic.

Tko su njegovi članovi? Ovo nitko ne može točno reći jer ni jedan starosjedilac ne zna tko se zaista nalazi iza strašne maske.

Članovi ovog društva se kriju na grobljima i tu se oblače, pod okriljem noći izlaze na puteve, ulaze u sela prerušeni u divlje životinje i strašne demone. Njihove maske različitih su oblika a tijela premazana glinom i blatom. Kada netko u selu umre, izvode strašan ples smrti, koji traje čitav dan, pa i dulje.

Ovaj kult je nastao pre više tisuća godina među Bantu narodima centralne i južne Afrike. Prema legendi, sav život na zemlji stvorio je bog Chatu koji je u početku živio u zajednici s ljudima i životinjama. Ali, kada su ljudi otkrili vatru, bog se naljutio i otišao na nebo ostavljajući ih na milost i nemilost sudbini.

Jedina veza s bogom bile su duše predaka. Oni se, prema vjerovanjima, mogu lako kretati između zemlje i neba i pitati Chatua sve o kiši, žetvi, ili o uspješnom lovu. Oličenje ovih duhova su Niau vračevi koji vrhovnom božanstvu prenose sve molbe i želje ljudi.

Kult nema svoje svećenike, hramove ni idole. Ukoliko posjetite neko afričko selo u centralnoj ili južnoj Africi i pitate ih o članovima Niau tajnog društva, oni će odgovoriti da ne poznaju ni jednog. Jer, u svakodnevnom životu oni pažljivo skrivaju svoju pripadnost kultu i vode normalan život. Ali čim netko umre u selu ili zaprijeti suša, a mršave krave prestanu davati mlijeko, oni se u noći pojavljuju u selu. Neki od njih sa strašnim maskama, neki na štulama, neki u obliku životinja.

Maske simboliziraju sve ljudske grijehe i vrline - egoizam, glupost, pohlepu, požudu, dobrotu, skromnost. Započinju svoj divlji ples razgovarajući s precima, ispuštaju zastrašujuće glasove, se valjaju po zemlji i padaju u trans.

Od 2005. godine ples pripadnika tajnog društva Niau koji se naziva Gule Wamkulu je uvršten na popis nematerijalne baštine UNESCO-a.

Stanovnici ih se boje jer svatko tko nosi masku, oponaša duha kojega predstavlja na zemlji. Ukoliko je u pitanju proždrljivost, onda će čovjek pod njegovom maskom otimati hranu drugima. Ukoliko oponaša neku životinju, on će dozvoliti drugima da ga jašu, ali najstrašniji i najopasniji je onaj koji ima pravo čak i ubijati ljude.

Logika Bantu naroda je jednostavna, ukoliko dugo nije pala kiša, za to je kriv loš čovjek. Tko je on ne zna se, ali kolektiv može označiti bilo kojeg pojedinca kao "lošeg" zbog sitnice. A kada predstavnici duša predaka uđu u selo, gotov je. Njegova kuća će biti uništena, a najopasniji među maskiranima će ga ubiti.

Danas su ova ritualna ubojstva gotovo nestala a veo tajne koji je prekrivao Niau kult svih ovih godina gotovo je nestao. Ritualni plesovi sa oslikanim maskama su više posveta tradiciji i predstava za turiste, premda u nekom zabačenom afričkom selu i sada možete noću susresti ljude koji podižu ruke k nebu i dozivaju boga Chatua.

Tajno društvo po imenu Niau postoji od davnina u jugoistočnoj Africi i premda danas predstavlja hommage tradiciji, u nekim udaljenim afričkim selima i dalje postoje ljudi koji noću izlaze maskirani i zazivaju boga Chatua, javlja National Geographic.

Tko su njegovi članovi? Ovo nitko ne može točno reći jer ni jedan starosjedilac ne zna tko se zaista nalazi iza strašne maske.

Članovi ovog društva se kriju na grobljima i tu se oblače, pod okriljem noći izlaze na puteve, ulaze u sela prerušeni u divlje životinje i strašne demone. Njihove maske različitih su oblika a tijela premazana glinom i blatom. Kada netko u selu umre, izvode strašan ples smrti, koji traje čitav dan, pa i dulje.

Ovaj kult je nastao pre više tisuća godina među Bantu narodima centralne i južne Afrike. Prema legendi, sav život na zemlji stvorio je bog Chatu koji je u početku živio u zajednici s ljudima i životinjama. Ali, kada su ljudi otkrili vatru, bog se naljutio i otišao na nebo ostavljajući ih na milost i nemilost sudbini.

Jedina veza s bogom bile su duše predaka. Oni se, prema vjerovanjima, mogu lako kretati između zemlje i neba i pitati Chatua sve o kiši, žetvi, ili o uspješnom lovu. Oličenje ovih duhova su Niau vračevi koji vrhovnom božanstvu prenose sve molbe i želje ljudi.

Kult nema svoje svećenike, hramove ni idole. Ukoliko posjetite neko afričko selo u centralnoj ili južnoj Africi i pitate ih o članovima Niau tajnog društva, oni će odgovoriti da ne poznaju ni jednog. Jer, u svakodnevnom životu oni pažljivo skrivaju svoju pripadnost kultu i vode normalan život. Ali čim netko umre u selu ili zaprijeti suša, a mršave krave prestanu davati mlijeko, oni se u noći pojavljuju u selu. Neki od njih sa strašnim maskama, neki na štulama, neki u obliku životinja.

Maske simboliziraju sve ljudske grijehe i vrline - egoizam, glupost, pohlepu, požudu, dobrotu, skromnost. Započinju svoj divlji ples razgovarajući s precima, ispuštaju zastrašujuće glasove, se valjaju po zemlji i padaju u trans.

Od 2005. godine ples pripadnika tajnog društva Niau koji se naziva Gule Wamkulu je uvršten na popis nematerijalne baštine UNESCO-a.

Stanovnici ih se boje jer svatko tko nosi masku, oponaša duha kojega predstavlja na zemlji. Ukoliko je u pitanju proždrljivost, onda će čovjek pod njegovom maskom otimati hranu drugima. Ukoliko oponaša neku životinju, on će dozvoliti drugima da ga jašu, ali najstrašniji i najopasniji je onaj koji ima pravo čak i ubijati ljude.

Logika Bantu naroda je jednostavna, ukoliko dugo nije pala kiša, za to je kriv loš čovjek. Tko je on ne zna se, ali kolektiv može označiti bilo kojeg pojedinca kao "lošeg" zbog sitnice. A kada predstavnici duša predaka uđu u selo, gotov je. Njegova kuća će biti uništena, a najopasniji među maskiranima će ga ubiti.

Danas su ova ritualna ubojstva gotovo nestala a veo tajne koji je prekrivao Niau kult svih ovih godina gotovo je nestao. Ritualni plesovi sa oslikanim maskama su više posveta tradiciji i predstava za turiste, premda u nekom zabačenom afričkom selu i sada možete noću susresti ljude koji podižu ruke k nebu i dozivaju boga Chatua.

Tajno društvo po imenu Niau postoji od davnina u jugoistočnoj Africi i premda danas predstavlja hommage tradiciji, u nekim udaljenim afričkim selima i dalje postoje ljudi koji noću izlaze maskirani i zazivaju boga Chatua, javlja National Geographic.

Tko su njegovi članovi? Ovo nitko ne može točno reći jer ni jedan starosjedilac ne zna tko se zaista nalazi iza strašne maske.

Članovi ovog društva se kriju na grobljima i tu se oblače, pod okriljem noći izlaze na puteve, ulaze u sela prerušeni u divlje životinje i strašne demone. Njihove maske različitih su oblika a tijela premazana glinom i blatom. Kada netko u selu umre, izvode strašan ples smrti, koji traje čitav dan, pa i dulje.
