"Kada je riječ o najvažnijoj prvoj šalici kave ujutro, mnogi ljudi posežu za šalicom kave u prvih 5-10 minuta nakon buđenja", rekao je Rex Isap, stručnjak za spavanje i izvršni direktor Happy Bedsa.

Međutim, kako biste iskoristili sve prednosti kofeina, trebali biste pričekati barem sat vremena, preporučio je.

"Kada se probudimo, naše su razine kortizola, često povezane sa stresom, na vrhuncu. Iznenađujuće, kortizol povećava budnost. Kofein dok su razine kortizola već visoke može neutralizirati ovaj učinak, što može dovesti do tolerancije na kofein", dodao je.

Dakle, što prije popijete kavu, to će ona na kraju biti manje učinkovita.​

Bilo da se radi o ranoj smjeni ili ritualu za početak dana, kava je svakodnevni spas za mnoge. Međutim, oni koji nisu popili onoliko šalica koliko bi željeli mogli bi brzo primijetiti da kofein počinje nestajati kako se povećava potreba za spavanjem.

Dok mnogi od nas u ovom trenutku već pripremaju drugu šalicu kave, profesor kemije na koledžu Bryn Mawr otkrio je zašto biste vjerojatno trebali preskočiti drugu šalicu kave tako rano ujutro. Također, dodala je, umjesto toga biste svom doručku trebali dodati namirnicu koja nije očekivana, piše klix.ba.

Ta neočekivana stavka za doručak je grejpfrut, koji bi potencijalno mogao produžiti učinke kofeina i pomoći vam da prebolite popodnevnu krizu kada samo čekate da sat otkuca 16 sati.

Michelle Francl, profesorica kemije na koledžu Bryn Mawr, rekla je tijekom webinara Chemistry World ovog tjedna: "Ako jedete puno grejpa, možete povećati vrijeme koje kofein ostaje u vašem tijelu."

Ako niste ljubitelj, profesorica je dodala da bi vam energiju mogli dati i kupus, brokula i prokulice.

Osim toga, stručnjak za spavanje nedavno je preporučio da ne pijete kavu u prvih sat vremena nakon buđenja.
