Kao da se ništa nije promijenilo, kao da se otvorila čarobna vremenska kapsula i katapultirala nas ravno u polovinu osamdesetih u kojima su Yello - ne samo na hit albumu "Stella" iz 1985. - bili zanimljiv i razigran electro duo s prepoznatljivim "narativom" i zaraznim plesnim ritmom. Što je - vraški dobra vijest.

Jer trideset godina kasnije Yello albumom "Toy" nude sve ono čime su palili i žarili u osamdesetima: inteligentne sintove i programiranja Borisa Blanka - i dalje zaduženog za glazbu i produkciju - na pola puta između razigranih ritmova, funkoidne "iskrzane" gitare po recepturi Chicka, vokala Dietera Meiera (sugestivni "narativni" bariton na tragu Cohena koji je, baš kao kod preminulog velikana, "podebljan" ženskim pozadinskim vokalima), odnosno dobro znane "stilistike".

U kojoj ima mjesta za zarazne plesne komade poput "Limba", ali i za ambijentalnu pop elektroniku. Bazičnoj i dobro znanoj formuli Blank i Meier dodat će svježih sastojaka pa i zgodnih pozajmica. Recimo "30.000 days" ima uvod poput elektroničke revizije hita Banglesa "Walk Like An Egyptian" u podlozi iznad koje Meier plete svoj cohenovski narativ, "Electrify II" sjajno kombinira Meierov vokal s dionicama vocodera i ženskim vokalom, "Cold Flame" - s gostujućim grlom Maliom u roli kakvu je nekad igrala Grace Jones - je prvorazredni komad i za plesne podije i za radija, a "Kiss The Cloud" (kolaboracija s Fifi Rong) prva od "ambijentalnih" electro-pop laganica, ima patinu Tangerine Dreama...

Zapravo, ona je i svojevrsni uvod u ono što vas očekuje s "Magmom" i "Toy Square", brojevima iz završnice albuma: apstraktnim zvučnim asemblažima izravno spojenim na krautrockerske ambijentalne (electro-psihodelične) eksperimente.

Trinaesti album Yelloa - prvi nakon devetogodišnje pauze - odličan je povratak starog dvojca u "novo doba". U kojem njihov "avangardni", plesno podatni pa i ambijentalni, electro-pop ima itekako smisla. U svakom slučaju, bolji od malodobne konkurencije.

Kao da se ništa nije promijenilo, kao da se otvorila čarobna vremenska kapsula i katapultirala nas ravno u polovinu osamdesetih u kojima su Yello - ne samo na hit albumu "Stella" iz 1985. - bili zanimljiv i razigran electro duo s prepoznatljivim "narativom" i zaraznim plesnim ritmom. Što je - vraški dobra vijest.

Jer trideset godina kasnije Yello albumom "Toy" nude sve ono čime su palili i žarili u osamdesetima: inteligentne sintove i programiranja Borisa Blanka - i dalje zaduženog za glazbu i produkciju - na pola puta između razigranih ritmova, funkoidne "iskrzane" gitare po recepturi Chicka, vokala Dietera Meiera (sugestivni "narativni" bariton na tragu Cohena koji je, baš kao kod preminulog velikana, "podebljan" ženskim pozadinskim vokalima), odnosno dobro znane "stilistike".

U kojoj ima mjesta za zarazne plesne komade poput "Limba", ali i za ambijentalnu pop elektroniku. Bazičnoj i dobro znanoj formuli Blank i Meier dodat će svježih sastojaka pa i zgodnih pozajmica. Recimo "30.000 days" ima uvod poput elektroničke revizije hita Banglesa "Walk Like An Egyptian" u podlozi iznad koje Meier plete svoj cohenovski narativ, "Electrify II" sjajno kombinira Meierov vokal s dionicama vocodera i ženskim vokalom, "Cold Flame" - s gostujućim grlom Maliom u roli kakvu je nekad igrala Grace Jones - je prvorazredni komad i za plesne podije i za radija, a "Kiss The Cloud" (kolaboracija s Fifi Rong) prva od "ambijentalnih" electro-pop laganica, ima patinu Tangerine Dreama...

Zapravo, ona je i svojevrsni uvod u ono što vas očekuje s "Magmom" i "Toy Square", brojevima iz završnice albuma: apstraktnim zvučnim asemblažima izravno spojenim na krautrockerske ambijentalne (electro-psihodelične) eksperimente.

Trinaesti album Yelloa - prvi nakon devetogodišnje pauze - odličan je povratak starog dvojca u "novo doba". U kojem njihov "avangardni", plesno podatni pa i ambijentalni, electro-pop ima itekako smisla. U svakom slučaju, bolji od malodobne konkurencije.
