Friški - sedmi po redu - album Kings Of Leona mnogi su očekivali kao korak dalje u mutaciji koja je družinu iz Tenneessija od post-punk korijena dovukla do stadionskog rocka kojem su izravni konkurenti (samo) Foo Fighters ili U2.
Tako bi se svakako dalo zaključiti po uvodnoj "Waste Of Moment“ punoj papra i špirita, skladbi s napaljenim "drajvom“, basom koji "piči sto na sat“, slapovima gitara i himničkim refrenom. No, "WALLS“ nije “linearan“ album stadionskog rocka baš kao što Kings Of Leon nisu zarobljenici jedne jedine stilske vrste niti žanrovski "fah idioti“. Uostalom, nisu li se do sada okušali u post punku, garažno nabrijanom punku, južnjačkom rocku, popu, countryju, pa i reggaeu?
"WALLS“ je naprosto album raznorodnih žanrovskih sastojaka pa se na njemu našlo mjesta i za melodiozni novim valom ozračen rock osamdesetih, za onaj "klasičan“ američki rock zvuk Toma Pettyja, rock pedesetih, soithern-rock i reggae; za praskave gitare i riffove te bogate slojeve sintesajzera (uz uporabu arhaičnog Mooga i melotrona) i klavijatura svih vrsta.
Riječ je naravno o skliskom terenu na kojem se lako može nosom tresnuti u blato, no svojevrsna žanrovska pomirba - u konkretnom slučaju očiti suživot energije garažnih korijena i stadionske drame s dozom pompoznosti - pokazala se kao čvrsti osigurač.
Nakon jurišne "Waste Of Moment“, "Reverend“ - zadržavajući moćni bas koji vozi na tragu uobičajenih vožnji Adama Claytona iz U2 - posve otvara zvučnu sliku prozračnim gitarama (koje bi mogle biti i danak iz dana kad su se KOL bližili Coldplayu) koje pak u "Around the World“ ulaze u prostor Kariba. S primislima na kalipso i pop-rock stilizacije koje su u osamdesetima krasile Haircut 100 (recimo u hitu "Favourite Shirts“) uz zaraznu i lepršavu, doslovno osunčanu melodiju.
"Find Me“ je pak (4.3) svojevrsni most između ovodobnog rocka i sedamdesetih, moćni gitarski brzac s upečatljivim sintovima, a "Over“ čisti zgoditak. Uvod i vožnja robusnog basa i jurećeg bubnja uz gitarski twang koji evoluira u "coldplayovske“ naglaske stvara čudesnu atmosferu oko vokala i "klasične“ ljubavne teme. "Muchacho“ je - kako to i naslov sugerira - izlet prema teritoriju Calexica; sjajna laganica s elementima "graničnih“ sazvučja i kristalnom gitarom...
"Conversation Piece“ nastavlja u istom laganini ritmu i sličnim tretmanom gitare, ali i bogatim klavijaturama (melotronom?). "Eyes on You“ je na pola puta između southern rocka s nekih ranijih albuma, Springsteena (ako zanemarite gitarski solo koji je iz drugog sazviježđa od Bossovog) i ovodobnog rock zvuka kojem su se priklonili Kings Of Leon (a koji američki kritičari mahom jednako neprecizno zovu "contemporary rock“).
"Wild“ je doskok preko Atlantika u prostor brit-popa ali s prtljagom američkog rokerskog juga, a naslovna "WALLS“ (s basom kao otkucajima srca) nova balada s odličnim vokalom Caleba Followilla, odličnim klavirom i diskretnim no upečatljivim gitarskim akcentima. Baš primjeren završetak veoma dobrog albuma koji potvrđuje ostanak Kings Of Leona u vrhu rokerskog Premiershipa.

Friški - sedmi po redu - album Kings Of Leona mnogi su očekivali kao korak dalje u mutaciji koja je družinu iz Tenneessija od post-punk korijena dovukla do stadionskog rocka kojem su izravni konkurenti (samo) Foo Fighters ili U2.
Tako bi se svakako dalo zaključiti po uvodnoj "Waste Of Moment“ punoj papra i špirita, skladbi s napaljenim "drajvom“, basom koji "piči sto na sat“, slapovima gitara i himničkim refrenom. No, "WALLS“ nije “linearan“ album stadionskog rocka baš kao što Kings Of Leon nisu zarobljenici jedne jedine stilske vrste niti žanrovski "fah idioti“. Uostalom, nisu li se do sada okušali u post punku, garažno nabrijanom punku, južnjačkom rocku, popu, countryju, pa i reggaeu?
"WALLS“ je naprosto album raznorodnih žanrovskih sastojaka pa se na njemu našlo mjesta i za melodiozni novim valom ozračen rock osamdesetih, za onaj "klasičan“ američki rock zvuk Toma Pettyja, rock pedesetih, soithern-rock i reggae; za praskave gitare i riffove te bogate slojeve sintesajzera (uz uporabu arhaičnog Mooga i melotrona) i klavijatura svih vrsta.
Riječ je naravno o skliskom terenu na kojem se lako može nosom tresnuti u blato, no svojevrsna žanrovska pomirba - u konkretnom slučaju očiti suživot energije garažnih korijena i stadionske drame s dozom pompoznosti - pokazala se kao čvrsti osigurač.
Nakon jurišne "Waste Of Moment“, "Reverend“ - zadržavajući moćni bas koji vozi na tragu uobičajenih vožnji Adama Claytona iz U2 - posve otvara zvučnu sliku prozračnim gitarama (koje bi mogle biti i danak iz dana kad su se KOL bližili Coldplayu) koje pak u "Around the World“ ulaze u prostor Kariba. S primislima na kalipso i pop-rock stilizacije koje su u osamdesetima krasile Haircut 100 (recimo u hitu "Favourite Shirts“) uz zaraznu i lepršavu, doslovno osunčanu melodiju.
"Find Me“ je pak (4.3) svojevrsni most između ovodobnog rocka i sedamdesetih, moćni gitarski brzac s upečatljivim sintovima, a "Over“ čisti zgoditak. Uvod i vožnja robusnog basa i jurećeg bubnja uz gitarski twang koji evoluira u "coldplayovske“ naglaske stvara čudesnu atmosferu oko vokala i "klasične“ ljubavne teme. "Muchacho“ je - kako to i naslov sugerira - izlet prema teritoriju Calexica; sjajna laganica s elementima "graničnih“ sazvučja i kristalnom gitarom...
"Conversation Piece“ nastavlja u istom laganini ritmu i sličnim tretmanom gitare, ali i bogatim klavijaturama (melotronom?). "Eyes on You“ je na pola puta između southern rocka s nekih ranijih albuma, Springsteena (ako zanemarite gitarski solo koji je iz drugog sazviježđa od Bossovog) i ovodobnog rock zvuka kojem su se priklonili Kings Of Leon (a koji američki kritičari mahom jednako neprecizno zovu "contemporary rock“).
"Wild“ je doskok preko Atlantika u prostor brit-popa ali s prtljagom američkog rokerskog juga, a naslovna "WALLS“ (s basom kao otkucajima srca) nova balada s odličnim vokalom Caleba Followilla, odličnim klavirom i diskretnim no upečatljivim gitarskim akcentima. Baš primjeren završetak veoma dobrog albuma koji potvrđuje ostanak Kings Of Leona u vrhu rokerskog Premiershipa.
