Osim što je geografska, ekonomska i politička činjenica, Mediteran je, možda i prije svega, kulturna.

Ili kako piše Inoslav Bešker: „Budući da ljudi, kroz različite skupine i pojedinačno, konstruiraju kulturu u raznim njezinim oblicima – lingvističkima, prometnima, graditeljskima, religijskima odnosno ideološkima, glazbenima, likovnima, književnima, i tako dalje - te da svaki taj oblik ima svoju naraciju i svoje narative, neizbježno se i Mediteran (kao i ini prostori uzajamnog djelovanja) nadaje kao kulturalni konstrukt, iskazan kroz narative.“

Tih se narativa nakupilo u tako zastrašujućem opsegu da je splitski Rimljanin, novinar i filolog s reputacijom erudite na steroidima, odlučio napisati neku vrstu bedekera kroz književno Sredozemlje.

„Mediteran u književnosti“ izrastao je iz natuknica, skica i sažetaka za predavanja što ih je Inoslav Bešker držao na diplomskom i postdiplomskom studiju Filozofskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Splitu, a pokriva široku gamu izvora u rasponu, recimo, od pučke splitske kletve „Šolta te dopala“ pa sve do klasičnih tekstova čiji su autori temu otočne izoliranosti obrađivali s nešto više suptilnosti.

Osim što širi i pročišćuje vidike kao dobrodošli reful bure, ovaj bi libar mogao - premda, naravno, neće – izliječiti mnoge koji su žrtve vlastite neukosti.

Primjerice, one Mediterance koji histeriziraju - neki privatno, u krugu najbližih, a neki javno, u novinarske mikrofone - zbog tobože invazivnih migranata koji će nas prvo šporkati, a potom i pokoriti.

Bilo bi lijepo kad bi takvi raspirivači straha i mržnje imali prilike pročitati sljedeće Beškerove retke: „I prije nego što su Goti iz današnje Švedske, odnosno njihovi prvi susjedi Vandali, nahrupili put Mediterana, prvi pregazivši sav Balkan od Dacije do Dalmacije, osnovavši (prvu) Kraljevinu Italiju, te se skrasivši u Hispaniji, a drugi poharavši Galiju, Rim, Hispaniju i onda se utvrdivši u Kartagi kao treća vojna sila na Sredozemlju s bazama na Balearima i na Siciliji, Tacit je opisao da su u Germana dva antrotipa: visoki plavokosi i oniži tamnokosi.

U Andaluziji, vjerojatno nazvanoj baš po Vandalima, ne manjka plavokosih, a ni na Siciliji, gdje su vladali i Normani, i Nijemci, a prije njih i Semiti, Kartažani i Arapi. Hoćeš-nećeš, po mediteranskim obalama su migracije ostavile popriličan antropotipski rusvaj, kao trajan trn u peti svim rasnim puristima. Mediteran je na migracije osuđen. To njegova književnost bilježi još od Hesioda.“

Bilo bi, velim, lijepo kad bi se naše sirovine i primitivci suočili s ovakvim tekstovima, iako nemam iluzija da hoće. U suprotnom, ne bi ni bili zapjenjeni ksenofobi. Za to, međutim, pisac nije odgovoran.

Njegova publika regrutirat će se iz poslovične manjine prosvijećenih i znatiželjnih, koji svoju intelektualnu širinu potvrđuju i time što se jednako zanimaju i za pitanja takozvane visoke i one tobože niske kulture.

Njima osobito valja preporučiti sjajan esej pod naslovom „Zločini i kazne“, čija je tema noir mediterraneo. Na utuk svima koji misle da su prirodno stanište krimića skandinavski ledeni predjeli u kojima ima jedva koji sat danjega svijetla (ignorirajući pritom neupitnu činjenicu kako su kanonska djela jedne od najutjecajnijih poetičkih škola, one američkog hard-boileda, situirana upravo u sunčanu Kaliforniju), Bešker je predstavio bogati asortiman knjiga i autora u rasponu od Vázqueza Montalbána i

Camillerija preko Izzoa, Pavičića, Mendoze Garriga i Pétrosa Márkarīsa sve do Batye Gura i Drissa Chraïbija.

Osim što je poučan, autor je, kako i priliči Mediterancu, i zabavan, a pritom i opako duhovit.

Neka za ilustraciju tome posluži sljedeći ulomak iz eseja koji se bavi književnim refleksijama vječne koliko i delikatne teme počesto dramatičnog sraza između gorštaka i primoraca: „Prvi pisani pravni spomenik na hrvatskome je Baščanska ploča pisana glagoljicom oko 1100., na istom otoku Krku na kojemu je 10. lipnja 1898. izumro dalmatski jezik. Tog dana je poginuo Antonio Udina Búrbur ili Tuone Udàina Burbur, posljednji govornik veklisúna, sjevernog narječja jadertinskoga dalmatskog jezika (zadnji čiket mu je eksplodirao preblizu – pa je to bio jedini slučaj da je smrt nekog jezika zaista odjeknula, ali ne nadaleko).“

Kad se već bavimo odjecima, treba reći kako ih ova knjiga itekako i nadaleko zaslužuje kao upravo nezaobilazno štivo za sve koji bi htjeli barem pokušati razumjeti Mediteran. Štivo koje, mogao bih se kladiti, autor nikada neće dovršiti jer je ono samom svojom prirodom otvoreno za nova dopisivanja i drukčije uvide.

Osim što je geografska, ekonomska i politička činjenica, Mediteran je, možda i prije svega, kulturna.

Ili kako piše Inoslav Bešker: „Budući da ljudi, kroz različite skupine i pojedinačno, konstruiraju kulturu u raznim njezinim oblicima – lingvističkima, prometnima, graditeljskima, religijskima odnosno ideološkima, glazbenima, likovnima, književnima, i tako dalje - te da svaki taj oblik ima svoju naraciju i svoje narative, neizbježno se i Mediteran (kao i ini prostori uzajamnog djelovanja) nadaje kao kulturalni konstrukt, iskazan kroz narative.“

Tih se narativa nakupilo u tako zastrašujućem opsegu da je splitski Rimljanin, novinar i filolog s reputacijom erudite na steroidima, odlučio napisati neku vrstu bedekera kroz književno Sredozemlje.

„Mediteran u književnosti“ izrastao je iz natuknica, skica i sažetaka za predavanja što ih je Inoslav Bešker držao na diplomskom i postdiplomskom studiju Filozofskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Splitu, a pokriva široku gamu izvora u rasponu, recimo, od pučke splitske kletve „Šolta te dopala“ pa sve do klasičnih tekstova čiji su autori temu otočne izoliranosti obrađivali s nešto više suptilnosti.

Osim što širi i pročišćuje vidike kao dobrodošli reful bure, ovaj bi libar mogao - premda, naravno, neće – izliječiti mnoge koji su žrtve vlastite neukosti.

Primjerice, one Mediterance koji histeriziraju - neki privatno, u krugu najbližih, a neki javno, u novinarske mikrofone - zbog tobože invazivnih migranata koji će nas prvo šporkati, a potom i pokoriti.

Bilo bi lijepo kad bi takvi raspirivači straha i mržnje imali prilike pročitati sljedeće Beškerove retke: „I prije nego što su Goti iz današnje Švedske, odnosno njihovi prvi susjedi Vandali, nahrupili put Mediterana, prvi pregazivši sav Balkan od Dacije do Dalmacije, osnovavši (prvu) Kraljevinu Italiju, te se skrasivši u Hispaniji, a drugi poharavši Galiju, Rim, Hispaniju i onda se utvrdivši u Kartagi kao treća vojna sila na Sredozemlju s bazama na Balearima i na Siciliji, Tacit je opisao da su u Germana dva antrotipa: visoki plavokosi i oniži tamnokosi.

U Andaluziji, vjerojatno nazvanoj baš po Vandalima, ne manjka plavokosih, a ni na Siciliji, gdje su vladali i Normani, i Nijemci, a prije njih i Semiti, Kartažani i Arapi. Hoćeš-nećeš, po mediteranskim obalama su migracije ostavile popriličan antropotipski rusvaj, kao trajan trn u peti svim rasnim puristima. Mediteran je na migracije osuđen. To njegova književnost bilježi još od Hesioda.“

Bilo bi, velim, lijepo kad bi se naše sirovine i primitivci suočili s ovakvim tekstovima, iako nemam iluzija da hoće. U suprotnom, ne bi ni bili zapjenjeni ksenofobi. Za to, međutim, pisac nije odgovoran.

Njegova publika regrutirat će se iz poslovične manjine prosvijećenih i znatiželjnih, koji svoju intelektualnu širinu potvrđuju i time što se jednako zanimaju i za pitanja takozvane visoke i one tobože niske kulture.

Njima osobito valja preporučiti sjajan esej pod naslovom „Zločini i kazne“, čija je tema noir mediterraneo. Na utuk svima koji misle da su prirodno stanište krimića skandinavski ledeni predjeli u kojima ima jedva koji sat danjega svijetla (ignorirajući pritom neupitnu činjenicu kako su kanonska djela jedne od najutjecajnijih poetičkih škola, one američkog hard-boileda, situirana upravo u sunčanu Kaliforniju), Bešker je predstavio bogati asortiman knjiga i autora u rasponu od Vázqueza Montalbána i

Camillerija preko Izzoa, Pavičića, Mendoze Garriga i Pétrosa Márkarīsa sve do Batye Gura i Drissa Chraïbija.

Osim što je poučan, autor je, kako i priliči Mediterancu, i zabavan, a pritom i opako duhovit.

Neka za ilustraciju tome posluži sljedeći ulomak iz eseja koji se bavi književnim refleksijama vječne koliko i delikatne teme počesto dramatičnog sraza između gorštaka i primoraca: „Prvi pisani pravni spomenik na hrvatskome je Baščanska ploča pisana glagoljicom oko 1100., na istom otoku Krku na kojemu je 10. lipnja 1898. izumro dalmatski jezik. Tog dana je poginuo Antonio Udina Búrbur ili Tuone Udàina Burbur, posljednji govornik veklisúna, sjevernog narječja jadertinskoga dalmatskog jezika (zadnji čiket mu je eksplodirao preblizu – pa je to bio jedini slučaj da je smrt nekog jezika zaista odjeknula, ali ne nadaleko).“

Kad se već bavimo odjecima, treba reći kako ih ova knjiga itekako i nadaleko zaslužuje kao upravo nezaobilazno štivo za sve koji bi htjeli barem pokušati razumjeti Mediteran. Štivo koje, mogao bih se kladiti, autor nikada neće dovršiti jer je ono samom svojom prirodom otvoreno za nova dopisivanja i drukčije uvide.
