Da me je netko 1980. upitao tko je najveća faca u zemlji, vjerojatno bih mu odgovorio: Davor Slamnig. Te godine on je kao novopridošli gitarist s Buldožerom snimio album "Izlog jeftinih slatkiša", a u nakladi zagrebačkog Centra društvenih djelatnosti objavio zbirku kratkih priča pod naslovom "Čudovište".

Ploča je bila komercijalni vrhunac benda koji je do tada uživao poštovanje sekte poklonika, ali ne i široku popularnost, a knjiga se doimala kao prirodni nastavak rock'n'rolla literarnim sredstvima. Kako me osim glazbe i knjiga u to vrijeme ništa drugo nije zanimalo, u Slamnigu sam s lakoćom razabrao čovjeka kojemu nitko živ na našoj javnoj sceni nije ni do koljena.

Dvije godine kasnije Slamnig će objaviti album s Mirom Furlan i vlastitim orkestrom (što je mrvicu preuzetna riječ za prateći sastav koji se sastojao od basista i bubnjara). Koji mjesec kasnije publicirat će drugu zbirku priča, pod krasno opičenim, premda ponešto kriptičnim naslovom "Qwertzu i Opš" (čiju je šifru ipak lako probiti ako ste familijarni s rasporedom slova na tastaturi).

RAD ZA MILANA BLENTONA

Album je prošao grozno, kritika ga je demolirala, a publika većinski ignorirala. Bilo mi je jasno da ta ploča ima nekoliko vrlo ozbiljnih mana, ali to me još uvijek nije sprječavalo da je s guštom slušam. Ne sprječava me ni danas. Premda taj izbor ne mogu racionalno ili barem dovoljno uvjerljivo braniti, album je čvrsto fiksiran u mom privatnom top tenu najvažnijih ploča dekade, i to ne baš sasvim pri dnu. Diskografski fijasko, srećom, nije pratio i književni. Druga zbirka objavljena je u Crnkovićevoj žutoj biblioteci Itd. Sama je ta činjenica značila da je mladi autor od književnog establišmenta i službeno prepoznat kao dečko koji obećava.

Što se otada sa Slamnigom kao javnom osobom događalo? Zapanjujuće malo toga. Upamćen je kao čovjek koji je radijsko-televizijskom serijalu o Milanu Blentonu dao glazbenu podlogu, i to je manje-više to. Do južnih provincija stizali su glasovi da je jako zaposlen kao autor radijskih džinglova, ali ni riječi o tome da se i dalje bavi glazbom (barem onom neprimijenjenom) i književnošću.

Iz zavjetrine je izašao tek 2002. godine objavivši roman "Topli zrak", koji je osvojio nagradu "Jutarnjeg lista". Tri godine kasnije publicirao je zbirku pod naslovom "Krumpirova rodbina", u kojoj se našao izbor priča (neke od njih bile su nagrađene na natječaju "Večernjeg lista") napisanih između 1986. i 2005. A onda je opet nestao. Naravno, ne doslovce i ne za svakoga, ali za svoju publiku definitivno.

PRETENCIOZNI BORGESOVCI

Ovih dana odlučio se na makar simbolični povratak. Ili nije odlučio ništa, nego se samo dao nagovoriti da objavi pretisak "Čudovišta". Pa kako je njegov prvijenac ostario? Da ne okolišam, malo je četrdesetogodišnjaka vitalnije od njega. Da, ovaj libar već je ušao u peto desetljeće, što je činjenica koja mora prestraviti i deprimirati sve njegove izvorne čitatelje. Tko je knjigu kupio kao tinejdžer, danas je puno stariji od svoga nekadašnjeg oca, zamalo će biti vršnjak svome svojedobnom djedu. A knjiga se, paradoksalno, doima mlađom nego što je bila u vrijeme svoje premijere.

Tada su našom književnom scenom dominirali takozvani borgesovci, fantastika je bila "in", a taj je poetički izbor počesto išao u paketu s pompoznom, patetičnom pretencioznošću. I onda se pojavio Slamnig, napojen s istog izvora, također zagrijan za oniričko, otvoren propitivanju mogućnosti drukčijih, paralelnih svjetova, ali opako duhovit i neumoljivo drzak. Za razliku od nešto starijih kolega koji su kitnjastim jezikom neštedimice raspisivali svoje proze, on se opredijelio za hiperkratku formu i suzdržani stil visoke funkcionalnosti, ali ostavljajući dovoljno mjesta za neodoljive jezične igre i kalambure (ipak je Davor sin velikog Ivana).

Zaokupljen pretežno ljubavnim temama (i pratećom egzistencijalnom što mukom, a što komedijom) te potpuno nezainteresiran za velika i, naravno, teška društvena ili ne daj bože politička pitanja, Slamnig se te 1980. godine doimao kao da je pao iz aviona. Danas nam se može – pače, mora! – činiti kao da se strmopizdjeo iz zrakoplova. I neka je.

U ovo vrijeme, više nego ikada prije, blagotvorno je čitati prozu pisca koji se s dvadesetak godina u životnome kalendaru nije uživljavao u ulogu starca, nego je prštao od juvenilnog vitalizma "dohranjenog" zdravom dozom humora, ironije i apsurda. Prije četrdeset godina "Čudovište" je bilo dobrodošlo, danas nam je nasušno potrebno. Čak i nama koji smo ostarjeli s tom knjigom, a kamoli tek mladima.

Da me je netko 1980. upitao tko je najveća faca u zemlji, vjerojatno bih mu odgovorio: Davor Slamnig. Te godine on je kao novopridošli gitarist s Buldožerom snimio album "Izlog jeftinih slatkiša", a u nakladi zagrebačkog Centra društvenih djelatnosti objavio zbirku kratkih priča pod naslovom "Čudovište".

Ploča je bila komercijalni vrhunac benda koji je do tada uživao poštovanje sekte poklonika, ali ne i široku popularnost, a knjiga se doimala kao prirodni nastavak rock'n'rolla literarnim sredstvima. Kako me osim glazbe i knjiga u to vrijeme ništa drugo nije zanimalo, u Slamnigu sam s lakoćom razabrao čovjeka kojemu nitko živ na našoj javnoj sceni nije ni do koljena.

Dvije godine kasnije Slamnig će objaviti album s Mirom Furlan i vlastitim orkestrom (što je mrvicu preuzetna riječ za prateći sastav koji se sastojao od basista i bubnjara). Koji mjesec kasnije publicirat će drugu zbirku priča, pod krasno opičenim, premda ponešto kriptičnim naslovom "Qwertzu i Opš" (čiju je šifru ipak lako probiti ako ste familijarni s rasporedom slova na tastaturi).

RAD ZA MILANA BLENTONA

Album je prošao grozno, kritika ga je demolirala, a publika većinski ignorirala. Bilo mi je jasno da ta ploča ima nekoliko vrlo ozbiljnih mana, ali to me još uvijek nije sprječavalo da je s guštom slušam. Ne sprječava me ni danas. Premda taj izbor ne mogu racionalno ili barem dovoljno uvjerljivo braniti, album je čvrsto fiksiran u mom privatnom top tenu najvažnijih ploča dekade, i to ne baš sasvim pri dnu. Diskografski fijasko, srećom, nije pratio i književni. Druga zbirka objavljena je u Crnkovićevoj žutoj biblioteci Itd. Sama je ta činjenica značila da je mladi autor od književnog establišmenta i službeno prepoznat kao dečko koji obećava.

Što se otada sa Slamnigom kao javnom osobom događalo? Zapanjujuće malo toga. Upamćen je kao čovjek koji je radijsko-televizijskom serijalu o Milanu Blentonu dao glazbenu podlogu, i to je manje-više to. Do južnih provincija stizali su glasovi da je jako zaposlen kao autor radijskih džinglova, ali ni riječi o tome da se i dalje bavi glazbom (barem onom neprimijenjenom) i književnošću.

Iz zavjetrine je izašao tek 2002. godine objavivši roman "Topli zrak", koji je osvojio nagradu "Jutarnjeg lista". Tri godine kasnije publicirao je zbirku pod naslovom "Krumpirova rodbina", u kojoj se našao izbor priča (neke od njih bile su nagrađene na natječaju "Večernjeg lista") napisanih između 1986. i 2005. A onda je opet nestao. Naravno, ne doslovce i ne za svakoga, ali za svoju publiku definitivno.

PRETENCIOZNI BORGESOVCI

Ovih dana odlučio se na makar simbolični povratak. Ili nije odlučio ništa, nego se samo dao nagovoriti da objavi pretisak "Čudovišta". Pa kako je njegov prvijenac ostario? Da ne okolišam, malo je četrdesetogodišnjaka vitalnije od njega. Da, ovaj libar već je ušao u peto desetljeće, što je činjenica koja mora prestraviti i deprimirati sve njegove izvorne čitatelje. Tko je knjigu kupio kao tinejdžer, danas je puno stariji od svoga nekadašnjeg oca, zamalo će biti vršnjak svome svojedobnom djedu. A knjiga se, paradoksalno, doima mlađom nego što je bila u vrijeme svoje premijere.

Tada su našom književnom scenom dominirali takozvani borgesovci, fantastika je bila "in", a taj je poetički izbor počesto išao u paketu s pompoznom, patetičnom pretencioznošću. I onda se pojavio Slamnig, napojen s istog izvora, također zagrijan za oniričko, otvoren propitivanju mogućnosti drukčijih, paralelnih svjetova, ali opako duhovit i neumoljivo drzak. Za razliku od nešto starijih kolega koji su kitnjastim jezikom neštedimice raspisivali svoje proze, on se opredijelio za hiperkratku formu i suzdržani stil visoke funkcionalnosti, ali ostavljajući dovoljno mjesta za neodoljive jezične igre i kalambure (ipak je Davor sin velikog Ivana).

Zaokupljen pretežno ljubavnim temama (i pratećom egzistencijalnom što mukom, a što komedijom) te potpuno nezainteresiran za velika i, naravno, teška društvena ili ne daj bože politička pitanja, Slamnig se te 1980. godine doimao kao da je pao iz aviona. Danas nam se može – pače, mora! – činiti kao da se strmopizdjeo iz zrakoplova. I neka je.

U ovo vrijeme, više nego ikada prije, blagotvorno je čitati prozu pisca koji se s dvadesetak godina u životnome kalendaru nije uživljavao u ulogu starca, nego je prštao od juvenilnog vitalizma "dohranjenog" zdravom dozom humora, ironije i apsurda. Prije četrdeset godina "Čudovište" je bilo dobrodošlo, danas nam je nasušno potrebno. Čak i nama koji smo ostarjeli s tom knjigom, a kamoli tek mladima.

Drska, duhovita i nikad mlađa

Da me je netko 1980. upitao tko je najveća faca u zemlji, vjerojatno bih mu odgovorio: Davor Slamnig. Te godine on je kao novopridošli gitarist s Buldožerom snimio album "Izlog jeftinih slatkiša", a u nakladi zagrebačkog Centra društvenih djelatnosti objavio zbirku kratkih priča pod naslovom "Čudovište".

Ploča je bila komercijalni vrhunac benda koji je do tada uživao poštovanje sekte poklonika, ali ne i široku popularnost, a knjiga se doimala kao prirodni nastavak rock'n'rolla literarnim sredstvima. Kako me osim glazbe i knjiga u to vrijeme ništa drugo nije zanimalo, u Slamnigu sam s lakoćom razabrao čovjeka kojemu nitko živ na našoj javnoj sceni nije ni do koljena.
