Idealnim Bondom nazvao je Sean Connery svoga nasljednika u ulozi agenta 007 Rogera Moorea i osobno amenovao nasljedstvo. Legenda kaže da je Moore bio razmatran za ulogu još prije Conneryja, a i Georgea Lazenbyja ("U službi Njezinog veličanstva"). Bilo je, tako, pitanje vremena kad će Bond i postati.

Osmi film iz serijala, solidni "Živi i pusti umrijeti" ("Live and Let Die", 1973.), bio je Mooreov prvi i nova Bond-era sedamdesetih je počela. Era koja će potrajati sve do polovice osamdesetih s rekordnih sedam službenih Bond-filmova; visoku brojku samo je Connery izjednačio, i to ako se uračuna njegov neslužbeni "Nikad ne reci nikad".

Moore je debitirao u ulozi ništa bitno lošije od Conneryja ("Dr. No") kojega nije bilo lako naslijediti nakon što je šest puta utjelovio Bonda ("Iz Rusije s ljubavlju", "Goldfinger", "Operacija Grom", "Samo dvaput se živi", "Dijamanti su vječni") i postao sinonim za agenta 007. Britanski glumac tražio je izvedbu Bonda negdje na zlatnoj sredini između Conneryja i samoga sebe u ulozi Simona Templara zvanog Svetac.

Pohvalno je da nije kopirao prethodnika, makar se povremeno znao doimati poput njega. Svakako, konture Mooreova Bondova, najšvalerskijeg i najhumorističnijeg od svih, nazirale su se u "Živi i pusti umrijeti", kao i njegovih nadolazećih filmova. Bond je predstavljen u krevetu (i zagrljaju) sa zgodnom talijanskom agenticom (Madeline Smith) koja će se sakriti u ormar kad junaku na vrata banu M i Moneypenny (Bernard Lee, Lois Maxwell), što je vjesnik sličnih skrivanja u "Čovjeku sa zlatnim pištoljem".

Kad M preda Bondu ručni sat s magnetom, 007 će iskoristiti spravicu iz Q-ova laboratorija da otkopča patent na haljini ljepotice i razodijene je. Zavođenje i zezancija ovom su Bondu na prvom mjestu, pa tek onda špijuniranje i akcijašenje, no ni to mu nije strano, iako je često tražio komediju u akciji razoružavajući gledatelja zafrkantskim "one-linerskim" šarmom ("Gdje si bio kad te nisam trebao?!").

U jednoj sceni Bond će, u bijegu od progonitelja, uletjeti u zrakoplov tipa Cessna i predstaviti se kao instruktor pilotkinji koju je zatekao u kokpitu. Avion će rulati po aerodromu i pred nosom će mu se zatvoriti vrata hangara u sceni koja je postavila temelje za spektakularnu uvodnu sekvenciju filma "Octopussy".

Nije Moore još bio "onaj" Moore iz "Špijuna koji me volio" i "Operacije svemir", stopostotan u ulozi, ali nije ni Connery bio Connery prije "Goldfingera", niti Pierce Brosnan i Daniel Craig prije "Svijet nije dovoljan" i "Skyfalla". Međutim, pokazivao je tragove osobnosti, kao i sam film.

Za početak, Moore je prvi od svih glumaca ušetao bez šešira u tzv. sekvenciju cijevi pištolja. U filmu nema standardnog "briefinga" o zadatku u M-ovu uredu, Desmond Llewelyn se ne pojavljuje kao Q, Bond ne naručuje vodka-martini ("protresen, ne promiješan") u smokingu i uopće, a glazbu nije skladao John Barry i glazbena tema je u drugom planu u odnosu na naslovnu pjesmu iz uvodne špice u izvedbi Paula McCartneyja i Wingsa.

Usto, misteriozni dr. Kananga (Yaphet Kotto; "Alien", "Trkač", "Ponoćna utrka") kao negativac nije SPECTRE-ov megalomanijak koji gladi perzijsku mačku i upravlja satelitima iz svemira kao bi pokorio svijet. Istina, on ima svoju jazbinu s morskim psom na fiktivnom karipskom otoku San Monique poput Larga iz "Thunderballa", ali "samo" želi preuzeti trgovinu heroina u New Yorku i New Orleansu, funkcionirajući kao prethodnik Sancheza iz "Dozvole za ubojstvo" Timothyja Daltona.

Kananga nije pamtljiv kao Dr. No i, posebice, Goldfinger, ali barem nije njegov klon, niti je "Live and Let Die" kopija "Dr. Noa" i "Goldfingera". Uvodna scena već sugerira drukčijnost s uličnom povorkom za sprovod u New Orleansu. "Čiji je pogreb?", pita jedan tip. "Tvoj", dobije odgovor zajedno s nožem u rebra, nakon čega povorka udre u veselu pjesmu.

To je prva u nizu neobičnosti, da ne kažemo bizarnosti filma. Stradali je jedan od trojice paralelno ubijenih agenata u New Yorku i na Karibima, za što je odgovoran Kananga. Stoga, Bond kreće u akciju koja ga odvodi od New Yorka do New Orleansa i Kariba.

Scene u New Yorku/Harlemu spretna su kombinacija akcijskih filmova sedamdesetih ("Francuska veza", "Prljavi Harry") i "blaxploitation" kinematografije ("Shaft"), ali film ne staje na tome, već uvodi i elemente natprirodnog, tj. voodooa u liku i djelu Barona Samedija (Geoffrey Holder), plus tu je i lijepa Solitaire (debi Jane Seymour) koja čita budućnost iz tarot karata.

Voodoo Bond? Tako je: "Živi i pusti umrijeti" na trenutke djeluje kao akcijsko-avanturističko hororski uzor za "Indianu Jonesa i Ukleti hram", jednako kao i "Veliku gužvu u Kineskoj četvrti" (negativac proguta kapsulu komprimirana zraka, "napuše" se poput balona i poleti pa eksplodira uz "one-linerski" klasik "Uvijek je bio puvander"), a Kananginov "henchman" s željeznom "kapetan Kuka" rukom Tee-Hee (Julius Harris) svojevrsna je karika koja nedostaje između Oddjoba i Zube.

Povrh toga, agentu 007 u dva navrata o glavi rade životinje ne računajući morskog psa. Zmija dođe kao nasljednica tarantule iz "Dr. Noa" i nju će Bond spaliti pomoću kubanke i "after shavea" pretvorenih u bacač plamena, a tu su i krokodili u jednoj od najnevjerojatnijih scena serijala (bijeg u skokovima po njihovim leđima) koja je, da stvar bude nevjerojatnija, zapravo izvedena.

Prilično nevjerojatna je i potjera gliserima po močvarnim rukavcima Louisiane (produžetak prethodne s motociklima i autobusom na kat u glavoj ulozi), pri čemu brzi brodovi jurcaju samo po vodi, već i po kopnu, eksplodirajući i izazivajući sudare. Potjera je za akcijsko anale serijala, neovisno o tome što joj tenziju oduzima blesava pojava šerifa J.W. Peppera (Clifton James). Prvi Mooreov "Bond" definitivno je uzbudljiviji, zabavniji i netipičniji od zadnjeg Conneryjevog. Vatreno krštenje špijuna kojeg ćemo (za)voljeti.

Idealnim Bondom nazvao je Sean Connery svoga nasljednika u ulozi agenta 007 Rogera Moorea i osobno amenovao nasljedstvo. Legenda kaže da je Moore bio razmatran za ulogu još prije Conneryja, a i Georgea Lazenbyja ("U službi Njezinog veličanstva"). Bilo je, tako, pitanje vremena kad će Bond i postati.

Osmi film iz serijala, solidni "Živi i pusti umrijeti" ("Live and Let Die", 1973.), bio je Mooreov prvi i nova Bond-era sedamdesetih je počela. Era koja će potrajati sve do polovice osamdesetih s rekordnih sedam službenih Bond-filmova; visoku brojku samo je Connery izjednačio, i to ako se uračuna njegov neslužbeni "Nikad ne reci nikad".

Moore je debitirao u ulozi ništa bitno lošije od Conneryja ("Dr. No") kojega nije bilo lako naslijediti nakon što je šest puta utjelovio Bonda ("Iz Rusije s ljubavlju", "Goldfinger", "Operacija Grom", "Samo dvaput se živi", "Dijamanti su vječni") i postao sinonim za agenta 007. Britanski glumac tražio je izvedbu Bonda negdje na zlatnoj sredini između Conneryja i samoga sebe u ulozi Simona Templara zvanog Svetac.

Pohvalno je da nije kopirao prethodnika, makar se povremeno znao doimati poput njega. Svakako, konture Mooreova Bondova, najšvalerskijeg i najhumorističnijeg od svih, nazirale su se u "Živi i pusti umrijeti", kao i njegovih nadolazećih filmova. Bond je predstavljen u krevetu (i zagrljaju) sa zgodnom talijanskom agenticom (Madeline Smith) koja će se sakriti u ormar kad junaku na vrata banu M i Moneypenny (Bernard Lee, Lois Maxwell), što je vjesnik sličnih skrivanja u "Čovjeku sa zlatnim pištoljem".

Kad M preda Bondu ručni sat s magnetom, 007 će iskoristiti spravicu iz Q-ova laboratorija da otkopča patent na haljini ljepotice i razodijene je. Zavođenje i zezancija ovom su Bondu na prvom mjestu, pa tek onda špijuniranje i akcijašenje, no ni to mu nije strano, iako je često tražio komediju u akciji razoružavajući gledatelja zafrkantskim "one-linerskim" šarmom ("Gdje si bio kad te nisam trebao?!").

U jednoj sceni Bond će, u bijegu od progonitelja, uletjeti u zrakoplov tipa Cessna i predstaviti se kao instruktor pilotkinji koju je zatekao u kokpitu. Avion će rulati po aerodromu i pred nosom će mu se zatvoriti vrata hangara u sceni koja je postavila temelje za spektakularnu uvodnu sekvenciju filma "Octopussy".

Nije Moore još bio "onaj" Moore iz "Špijuna koji me volio" i "Operacije svemir", stopostotan u ulozi, ali nije ni Connery bio Connery prije "Goldfingera", niti Pierce Brosnan i Daniel Craig prije "Svijet nije dovoljan" i "Skyfalla". Međutim, pokazivao je tragove osobnosti, kao i sam film.

Za početak, Moore je prvi od svih glumaca ušetao bez šešira u tzv. sekvenciju cijevi pištolja. U filmu nema standardnog "briefinga" o zadatku u M-ovu uredu, Desmond Llewelyn se ne pojavljuje kao Q, Bond ne naručuje vodka-martini ("protresen, ne promiješan") u smokingu i uopće, a glazbu nije skladao John Barry i glazbena tema je u drugom planu u odnosu na naslovnu pjesmu iz uvodne špice u izvedbi Paula McCartneyja i Wingsa.

Usto, misteriozni dr. Kananga (Yaphet Kotto; "Alien", "Trkač", "Ponoćna utrka") kao negativac nije SPECTRE-ov megalomanijak koji gladi perzijsku mačku i upravlja satelitima iz svemira kao bi pokorio svijet. Istina, on ima svoju jazbinu s morskim psom na fiktivnom karipskom otoku San Monique poput Larga iz "Thunderballa", ali "samo" želi preuzeti trgovinu heroina u New Yorku i New Orleansu, funkcionirajući kao prethodnik Sancheza iz "Dozvole za ubojstvo" Timothyja Daltona.

Kananga nije pamtljiv kao Dr. No i, posebice, Goldfinger, ali barem nije njegov klon, niti je "Live and Let Die" kopija "Dr. Noa" i "Goldfingera". Uvodna scena već sugerira drukčijnost s uličnom povorkom za sprovod u New Orleansu. "Čiji je pogreb?", pita jedan tip. "Tvoj", dobije odgovor zajedno s nožem u rebra, nakon čega povorka udre u veselu pjesmu.

To je prva u nizu neobičnosti, da ne kažemo bizarnosti filma. Stradali je jedan od trojice paralelno ubijenih agenata u New Yorku i na Karibima, za što je odgovoran Kananga. Stoga, Bond kreće u akciju koja ga odvodi od New Yorka do New Orleansa i Kariba.

Scene u New Yorku/Harlemu spretna su kombinacija akcijskih filmova sedamdesetih ("Francuska veza", "Prljavi Harry") i "blaxploitation" kinematografije ("Shaft"), ali film ne staje na tome, već uvodi i elemente natprirodnog, tj. voodooa u liku i djelu Barona Samedija (Geoffrey Holder), plus tu je i lijepa Solitaire (debi Jane Seymour) koja čita budućnost iz tarot karata.

Voodoo Bond? Tako je: "Živi i pusti umrijeti" na trenutke djeluje kao akcijsko-avanturističko hororski uzor za "Indianu Jonesa i Ukleti hram", jednako kao i "Veliku gužvu u Kineskoj četvrti" (negativac proguta kapsulu komprimirana zraka, "napuše" se poput balona i poleti pa eksplodira uz "one-linerski" klasik "Uvijek je bio puvander"), a Kananginov "henchman" s željeznom "kapetan Kuka" rukom Tee-Hee (Julius Harris) svojevrsna je karika koja nedostaje između Oddjoba i Zube.

Povrh toga, agentu 007 u dva navrata o glavi rade životinje ne računajući morskog psa. Zmija dođe kao nasljednica tarantule iz "Dr. Noa" i nju će Bond spaliti pomoću kubanke i "after shavea" pretvorenih u bacač plamena, a tu su i krokodili u jednoj od najnevjerojatnijih scena serijala (bijeg u skokovima po njihovim leđima) koja je, da stvar bude nevjerojatnija, zapravo izvedena.

Prilično nevjerojatna je i potjera gliserima po močvarnim rukavcima Louisiane (produžetak prethodne s motociklima i autobusom na kat u glavoj ulozi), pri čemu brzi brodovi jurcaju samo po vodi, već i po kopnu, eksplodirajući i izazivajući sudare. Potjera je za akcijsko anale serijala, neovisno o tome što joj tenziju oduzima blesava pojava šerifa J.W. Peppera (Clifton James). Prvi Mooreov "Bond" definitivno je uzbudljiviji, zabavniji i netipičniji od zadnjeg Conneryjevog. Vatreno krštenje špijuna kojeg ćemo (za)voljeti.
