Kajanje jednog pisca tema je još jednog filma dostupnog u kućnom kinu – "Samo neka govore". U novom projektu oskarovca Stevena Soderbergha, koji je premijeru nedavno imao na HBO-u, gdje se i nalazi u udarnojn premijernoj ponudi, pisac je slavna spisateljica Alice Hughes (Meryl Streep).

Ona je friška dobitnica Pulitzera i pozvana je da dođe u Veliku Britaniju preuzeti nagradu. Kako ne voli letjeti, agentica Karen (Gemma Chan) nagovara je da pođe prekooceanskim brodom "Queen Mary 2" iz New Yorka u Englesku, a ona pristaje pod jednim uvjetom – ako sa sobom može povesti svoje stare prijateljice koje nije vidjela godinama, Robertu i Susan (Candice Bergen, Dianne Wiest), te nećaka Tylera (Lucas Hedges).

Alicein uspjeh je promijenio odnos među njima budući da je prijateljice provukla kroz roman, a kako je ona netom pred polazak najavila da je počela raditi na nestrpljivo očekivanom novom romanu, Karen se krišom i sama ukrcava na brod ne bi li je držala na oku, odnosno doznala o čemu piše, a u nju će se zaljubiti Tyler.

Ovako postavljen iz također potencijalno osobnog pera scenaristice Deborah Eisenberg, inače spisateljice kratkih priča, "Let Them All Talk" u startu bira drukčiji put od "The Roads Not Taken" u pogledu pisaca u poodmaklim godinama/krizi sredovječja ili starosti, progonjenih prošlosti i odnosima s bliskim ljudima.

"Samo neka govore" je isto mogao biti teška (ili teža) drama, ali Soderbergh ga uspijeva načiniti lakonotnim i lepršavim, pa i eskapističkim, kao dramsku karakternu studiju u formi komedije karaktera i zabune ili možda obratno. Ako je "Neodabrani putevi" drama o kajanju, Soderberghov film je više komedija o kajanju.

A pohvalno je da se ovo "karaktera" odnosi na množinu, sve važnije likove, ne samo Alice, iako je "Let Them All Talk" prema foršpanu djelovao kao glumački poligon za trostruku oskarovku Streep, koja je začudo ostala bezpretplaćene nominacije za Zlatni globus za ovu ulogu, u smislu

da se razmaše do krajnjih granica "streepovštine".

Meryl je dio ansambla, glavni, ali dio. Dosta vremena Soderbergh poklanja ostalim likovima koji djeluju životno, sa svim vrlinama i manama, u raspoloženim interpretacijama glumaca, napose Bergen i dvostruke oskarovke Wiest koju gledamo u kinima u filmu "Jako mi je stalo" s Rosamund Pike.

Kad Alice kaže kako joj je važno da zna stanje uma prijateljica, čini se da je to važno i Soderberghu. Zna se dogoditi da se film zaplete u podzapletima, primjerice onom na relaciji Tyler-Karen, no Soderbergh pronalazi izlaz iz labirinta, ubacujući likove u neku novu situaciju ili razgovor.

Film je iznimno razgovoran i mogao bi djelovati kao da je ekranizacija kazališne predstave da Soderberghova kamera ne izađe relativno frekventno iz interijera broda na palubu i nadivi se pogledu. U nečijim drugim rukama film je mogao ispasti teatralan, ali Soderbergh ga čini prilično sinematičnim.

Redatelj je možda i najveća zvijezda ovog filma, veća od Streep, premda djeluje nenametljivo, iz drugog plana i nije "showy". Fascinira s kojom lakoćom Soderbergh premošćuje razliku između komercijalnog i nezavisnog/umjetničkog filma, balansirajući između oba pola i šarajući po žanrovima od samih početaka karijere ("Seks, laži i videovrpce", "Daleko od očiju", "Traffic", "Erin Brockovich", "Oceanovih 11", "Solaris", "Che 1&2", "Zaraza", "Čarobni Mike"...).

I "Samo neka govore" je film na granici dvaju Soderbergha, bliži komercijalnom, ali nikad toliko da se pretvori u komedijicu za žene u zlatnim godinama podatnu za "Ladies Night" i "Cinelady" projekcije a la "The Book Club" s Bergenicom, Jane Fondom, Diane Keaton i Mary Steenburgen.

Filmofili mogu biti sretni što s vratio iz preuranjene mirovine u koju je otišao nakon filmova "Nuspojave" i "Moj život s Liberaceom" iz 2013. godine. Otad naovamo Soderbergh nije još snimio veliki film ("Logan Lucky", "Poremećena"), ali lijepo je znati da na njega još možemo računati. "Let Them All Talk" svakako je korak naprijed u odnosu na "The Laundromat" ili natrag prema starom Soderberghu.

Nezaustavljivi oskarovac

Soderberghu se upravo u postprodukciji nalazi "No Sudden Move", krimi-triler s mnoštvom poznatih glumaca (Brendan Fraser, Matt Damon, Benicio Del Toro...), a uskoro počinje snimati i još jedan film, "Kimi" s Zoë Kravitz.

Kajanje jednog pisca tema je još jednog filma dostupnog u kućnom kinu – "Samo neka govore". U novom projektu oskarovca Stevena Soderbergha, koji je premijeru nedavno imao na HBO-u, gdje se i nalazi u udarnojn premijernoj ponudi, pisac je slavna spisateljica Alice Hughes (Meryl Streep).

Ona je friška dobitnica Pulitzera i pozvana je da dođe u Veliku Britaniju preuzeti nagradu. Kako ne voli letjeti, agentica Karen (Gemma Chan) nagovara je da pođe prekooceanskim brodom "Queen Mary 2" iz New Yorka u Englesku, a ona pristaje pod jednim uvjetom – ako sa sobom može povesti svoje stare prijateljice koje nije vidjela godinama, Robertu i Susan (Candice Bergen, Dianne Wiest), te nećaka Tylera (Lucas Hedges).

Alicein uspjeh je promijenio odnos među njima budući da je prijateljice provukla kroz roman, a kako je ona netom pred polazak najavila da je počela raditi na nestrpljivo očekivanom novom romanu, Karen se krišom i sama ukrcava na brod ne bi li je držala na oku, odnosno doznala o čemu piše, a u nju će se zaljubiti Tyler.

Ovako postavljen iz također potencijalno osobnog pera scenaristice Deborah Eisenberg, inače spisateljice kratkih priča, "Let Them All Talk" u startu bira drukčiji put od "The Roads Not Taken" u pogledu pisaca u poodmaklim godinama/krizi sredovječja ili starosti, progonjenih prošlosti i odnosima s bliskim ljudima.

"Samo neka govore" je isto mogao biti teška (ili teža) drama, ali Soderbergh ga uspijeva načiniti lakonotnim i lepršavim, pa i eskapističkim, kao dramsku karakternu studiju u formi komedije karaktera i zabune ili možda obratno. Ako je "Neodabrani putevi" drama o kajanju, Soderberghov film je više komedija o kajanju.

A pohvalno je da se ovo "karaktera" odnosi na množinu, sve važnije likove, ne samo Alice, iako je "Let Them All Talk" prema foršpanu djelovao kao glumački poligon za trostruku oskarovku Streep, koja je začudo ostala bezpretplaćene nominacije za Zlatni globus za ovu ulogu, u smislu

da se razmaše do krajnjih granica "streepovštine".

Meryl je dio ansambla, glavni, ali dio. Dosta vremena Soderbergh poklanja ostalim likovima koji djeluju životno, sa svim vrlinama i manama, u raspoloženim interpretacijama glumaca, napose Bergen i dvostruke oskarovke Wiest koju gledamo u kinima u filmu "Jako mi je stalo" s Rosamund Pike.

Kad Alice kaže kako joj je važno da zna stanje uma prijateljica, čini se da je to važno i Soderberghu. Zna se dogoditi da se film zaplete u podzapletima, primjerice onom na relaciji Tyler-Karen, no Soderbergh pronalazi izlaz iz labirinta, ubacujući likove u neku novu situaciju ili razgovor.

Film je iznimno razgovoran i mogao bi djelovati kao da je ekranizacija kazališne predstave da Soderberghova kamera ne izađe relativno frekventno iz interijera broda na palubu i nadivi se pogledu. U nečijim drugim rukama film je mogao ispasti teatralan, ali Soderbergh ga čini prilično sinematičnim.

Redatelj je možda i najveća zvijezda ovog filma, veća od Streep, premda djeluje nenametljivo, iz drugog plana i nije "showy". Fascinira s kojom lakoćom Soderbergh premošćuje razliku između komercijalnog i nezavisnog/umjetničkog filma, balansirajući između oba pola i šarajući po žanrovima od samih početaka karijere ("Seks, laži i videovrpce", "Daleko od očiju", "Traffic", "Erin Brockovich", "Oceanovih 11", "Solaris", "Che 1&2", "Zaraza", "Čarobni Mike"...).

I "Samo neka govore" je film na granici dvaju Soderbergha, bliži komercijalnom, ali nikad toliko da se pretvori u komedijicu za žene u zlatnim godinama podatnu za "Ladies Night" i "Cinelady" projekcije a la "The Book Club" s Bergenicom, Jane Fondom, Diane Keaton i Mary Steenburgen.

Filmofili mogu biti sretni što s vratio iz preuranjene mirovine u koju je otišao nakon filmova "Nuspojave" i "Moj život s Liberaceom" iz 2013. godine. Otad naovamo Soderbergh nije još snimio veliki film ("Logan Lucky", "Poremećena"), ali lijepo je znati da na njega još možemo računati. "Let Them All Talk" svakako je korak naprijed u odnosu na "The Laundromat" ili natrag prema starom Soderberghu.

Nezaustavljivi oskarovac

Soderberghu se upravo u postprodukciji nalazi "No Sudden Move", krimi-triler s mnoštvom poznatih glumaca (Brendan Fraser, Matt Damon, Benicio Del Toro...), a uskoro počinje snimati i još jedan film, "Kimi" s Zoë Kravitz.
