Nekako je neobično pisati o onima čije djelo, barem u najmanjoj mjeri, smatrate “svojim”, kad nečije slike, makar dvije-tri, imate na zidu i koje su od dugog gledanja gotovo poprimile oblik vašeg pogleda.
Za upoznavanje i posjet Anti Mandariću formalan je razlog njegova upravo tiskana monografija koju je izdala splitska galerija “Brešan”. No “težina” našeg susreta za mene leži u one tri njegove slike na mome zidu, pa je i formalno “kako ste” obojeno tim njegovim, a “mojim” akvarelima.
– Nekako sam depresivan – kaže slikar. – To mi se čini zbilja kao teška bolest. Je li to bolest? Ili poremećaj?
Ili kriza smisla?
– Da, možda je i tako – govori 66-godišnji rođeni Kninjanin, a po mišljenju mnogih jedan od najboljih splitskih slikara.
– Možda je zbog ovog doba godine, znate... Oko Dušnog dana uhvati me tako... A i mimo Dušnog dana, ispada da je sve više onih na koje pomislim mrtvo.
A možda je razmaženost?– Je. U pravu ste. Mi smo muškarci grozna bića, sebična, razmažena, bešćutna bića. Nemamo živaca ni s kim, ništa, brzo nas štufa... Hvala Bogu na ženama. I na umjetnosti, bez umjetnosti i bez ženske strpljivosti i dobrote svijet bi bio još strašnije mjesto. A već je dovoljno strašno.

To iz vas progovara navodna depresija.– A ne, ne... Pa pogledajte nas, zemaljska kugla, kako je ono Matoš rekao, vrti se samo oko svoje smrti. Ja bih, eto, volio da nakon moje smrti svijet bude bolji. Žena mi kaže da sam lud...
Moj djed znao bi reći “ako umrem”. Govorila sam mu da svi umiru, da tu nema “ako”, a on je kazao: “Svi umiru? A kako znaš?”– Nije loše. A je li umro?
Poginuo.– Svi umiru. Nema tu “ako”. No, dotle treba živjeti. Treba slikati. Umjetnost i znanost jedine daju smisao ovom smrtonosnom svijetu.
I žene.– Da. Nema ničeg privlačnijeg, ništa umjetnički izazovnijeg od ženskog akta u mramoru. Čak i u glini. Nikad nisam napravio muški akt. I neću. Isus Krist se ne računa...
Imate golem opus, a uvijek ste malo “sa strane”. Je li to zato što niste završili akademiju?– Ma ne. Poštujem akademiju, ali... Meni nije trebala akademija, ta diploma mi nije ništa značila. Ne, ne... To je zato što sam nesposoban. Tržišno nespretan. Ne znam se prodati, ne znam naplatiti, ne znam baš raditi dopadljive slike, one što “kure” na tržištu...

Ipak, eto, imate monografiju.
– Da. Ugodno je imati monografiju, premda ništa ne pomaže. Ne može se više živjeti od slikarstva... Teško je.
Ne može se više živjeti ni od čega, ako ćemo pravo.– Je. Može se od lopovluka. Samo – treba se takav roditi, a ja nisam rođen za mešetarenje. Ni za kupus saditi... Znate, imam neku djedovinu u Promini pa sam tamo nešto krčio, kopao, čak sam lani mislio naučiti voziti auto kako bih mogao tamo ići, a nikoga ne gnjaviti. Blitva mi je bila... ovolika. I sve su mi raskopali, pobrali, pokrali...
Htjeli ste lani položiti vozački ispit!?– Da. Čak sam bio položio onu prvu pomoć. Žena se križala... Onda me je sve to štufalo, i tako... I dalje sam pješak. Nego, imate par mojih akvarela, kažete? Dopadljivih?
Pa i ne. Mužu nisu dragi. Jedna je poznanica pohvalila okvire, a akvarele nije komentirala. – I vi ih svejedno držite na zidu?
Naravno.–
Drago mi je. A da popijemo po orahovicu, a?
... I tako smo popili po orahovicu, sjedili, pušili i svijet je na trenutak bio lijepo mjesto, usprkos neopisivom kaosu u Mandarićevu ateljeu..

Nekako je neobično pisati o onima čije djelo, barem u najmanjoj mjeri, smatrate “svojim”, kad nečije slike, makar dvije-tri, imate na zidu i koje su od dugog gledanja gotovo poprimile oblik vašeg pogleda.
Za upoznavanje i posjet Anti Mandariću formalan je razlog njegova upravo tiskana monografija koju je izdala splitska galerija “Brešan”. No “težina” našeg susreta za mene leži u one tri njegove slike na mome zidu, pa je i formalno “kako ste” obojeno tim njegovim, a “mojim” akvarelima.
– Nekako sam depresivan – kaže slikar. – To mi se čini zbilja kao teška bolest. Je li to bolest? Ili poremećaj?
Ili kriza smisla?
– Da, možda je i tako – govori 66-godišnji rođeni Kninjanin, a po mišljenju mnogih jedan od najboljih splitskih slikara.
– Možda je zbog ovog doba godine, znate... Oko Dušnog dana uhvati me tako... A i mimo Dušnog dana, ispada da je sve više onih na koje pomislim mrtvo.
A možda je razmaženost?– Je. U pravu ste. Mi smo muškarci grozna bića, sebična, razmažena, bešćutna bića. Nemamo živaca ni s kim, ništa, brzo nas štufa... Hvala Bogu na ženama. I na umjetnosti, bez umjetnosti i bez ženske strpljivosti i dobrote svijet bi bio još strašnije mjesto. A već je dovoljno strašno.
Ženski akt u mramorubez premca
To iz vas progovara navodna depresija.– A ne, ne... Pa pogledajte nas, zemaljska kugla, kako je ono Matoš rekao, vrti se samo oko svoje smrti. Ja bih, eto, volio da nakon moje smrti svijet bude bolji. Žena mi kaže da sam lud...
Moj djed znao bi reći “ako umrem”. Govorila sam mu da svi umiru, da tu nema “ako”, a on je kazao: “Svi umiru? A kako znaš?”– Nije loše. A je li umro?
Poginuo.– Svi umiru. Nema tu “ako”. No, dotle treba živjeti. Treba slikati. Umjetnost i znanost jedine daju smisao ovom smrtonosnom svijetu.
I žene.– Da. Nema ničeg privlačnijeg, ništa umjetnički izazovnijeg od ženskog akta u mramoru. Čak i u glini. Nikad nisam napravio muški akt. I neću. Isus Krist se ne računa...
Imate golem opus, a uvijek ste malo “sa strane”. Je li to zato što niste završili akademiju?– Ma ne. Poštujem akademiju, ali... Meni nije trebala akademija, ta diploma mi nije ništa značila. Ne, ne... To je zato što sam nesposoban. Tržišno nespretan. Ne znam se prodati, ne znam naplatiti, ne znam baš raditi dopadljive slike, one što “kure” na tržištu...
Banket u blitvi
Ipak, eto, imate monografiju.
– Da. Ugodno je imati monografiju, premda ništa ne pomaže. Ne može se više živjeti od slikarstva... Teško je.
Ne može se više živjeti ni od čega, ako ćemo pravo.– Je. Može se od lopovluka. Samo – treba se takav roditi, a ja nisam rođen za mešetarenje. Ni za kupus saditi... Znate, imam neku djedovinu u Promini pa sam tamo nešto krčio, kopao, čak sam lani mislio naučiti voziti auto kako bih mogao tamo ići, a nikoga ne gnjaviti. Blitva mi je bila... ovolika. I sve su mi raskopali, pobrali, pokrali...
Htjeli ste lani položiti vozački ispit!?– Da. Čak sam bio položio onu prvu pomoć. Žena se križala... Onda me je sve to štufalo, i tako... I dalje sam pješak. Nego, imate par mojih akvarela, kažete? Dopadljivih?
Pa i ne. Mužu nisu dragi. Jedna je poznanica pohvalila okvire, a akvarele nije komentirala. – I vi ih svejedno držite na zidu?
Naravno.–
Drago mi je. A da popijemo po orahovicu, a?
... I tako smo popili po orahovicu, sjedili, pušili i svijet je na trenutak bio lijepo mjesto, usprkos neopisivom kaosu u Mandarićevu ateljeu..
