Cesta smrti uzima svoj danak. Ponovo. Siječanj na Korčuli. Opet je zavijena u crno. Nakon lanjske tragedije, kad su u prometnoj nesreći živote izgubila čak trojica mladića iz Smokvice, prije nepuna dva tjedna život je izgubio još jedan mladić. Na istoj cesti...
Tek 20 godina imao je Velolučanin kada je u jutarnjim satima 28. siječnja, zbog neprilagođene brzine, izgubio nadzor nad vozilom na državnoj cesti Vela Luka – Blato, a potom preminuo od ozljeda koje je zadobio jer nije bio vezan sigurnosnim pojasom. Njegov suvozač, koji je koristio pojas, vratio se kući i roditeljima s lakšim ozljedama.
Otočani su, malo je reći, užasnuti, pogotovo stanovnici zapadnog dijela otoka, koji se prečesto susreću na tragičnim sprovodima mladih sumještana. Zadnja tragedija izazvala je buru negodovanja.
– Stalno se događaju prometne nesreće između Blata i Vele Luke, svako malo! – rekli su nam Lučani, dodajući:
– Provjerite koliko je mladih izginulo na ovoj cesti.
Jedna je Korčulanka iznijela zanimljivu teoriju:
– Na zapadnom dijelu otoka stalno se događaju prometne nesreće s kobnim posljedicama jer nema policije, a čim nema policije, počinje se ginuti. Kod nas na istočnom dijelu Korčule su non-stop prometne kontrole, sve je krcato policije, ali naša dica ne ginu.

Nije prvi put da čujemo kako se većina nadzora na cestama odvija na području grada Korčule i općine Lumbarda, gdje su prometne nesreće sa smrtnim ishodima doista rijetke. Istodobno, na području općina Vela Luka, Blato i Smokvica živote gube mladi ljudi, a policajaca baš i nema na prometnicama. Odlučili smo istražiti koliko u tim navodima ima istine, obratili smo se Policijskoj upravi dubrovačko-neretvanskoj.
– Službenici Policijske postaje Korčula nadzor prometa obavljaju sukladno prostorno-vremenskoj analizi događanja prometnih nesreća. Analiza pokazuje da je u posljednje četiri godine veći broj prometnih nesreća evidentiran na istočnom dijelu otoka, na području Korčule i Lumbarde, u odnosu na zapadni dio otoka, na područje Blata i Vela Luke.
Sukladno takvim pokazateljima, na istočnom dijelu otoka nadzor prometa je intenzivniji i u njemu sudjeluje veći broj policijskih službenika. Međutim, budući da je u posljednje četiri godine na zapadnom dijelu otoka evidentiran veći broj prometnih nesreća s nastradalim osobama, na području Blata i Vele Luke podnesen je veći broj represivnih mjera prema sudionicima u prometu u odnosu na istočni dio otoka – navode iz policije.
Odgovor je upravo onakav kakav smo očekivali, "ni da, ni ne". Ukratko, na području Korčule i Lumbarde ima više prometnih kontrola, ali u zonama Blata i Vele Luke kazne su veće i ozbiljnije. Te veće i ozbiljnije kazne, kao što vidimo, nisu urodile plodom, ali češće kontrole možda bi.
Zbog toga smo usporedili crne brojke za dva dijela Korčule. Tijekom posljednje četiri godine, od 2018. do 2022. godine, samo na kobnoj cesti Blato – Vela Luka dogodilo se 14 prometnih nesreća u kojima je smrtno stradalo šest osoba.
Šest uglavnom mladih osoba u samo četiri godine, šest tragedija koje će se, nažalost, pamtiti, a ako pribrojimo i nedavnu, koja po statistici prelazi u 2023. godinu, na samo jednom cestovnom potezu dogodilo se 15 nesreća s čak sedam smrtno stradalih osoba. K tome, na glavnoj otočnoj prometnici bilo je i po pet teže i lakše ozlijeđenih, a u šest nesreća je zabilježena materijalna šteta.

S druge strane, na područjima grada Korčule i općine Lumbarda u istom razdoblju zabilježeno je znatno više incidenata, njih čak 125, ali s dvije poginule osobe. U 64 nesreće zabilježene su ozlijeđene osobe, a u 59 materijalna šteta. Te dvije prometne nesreće sa smrtnim ishodom bile su, kako kažu Korčulani, sudbina ili viša sila na koju se teško može utjecati.
Najprije je u travnju 2019. poginuo mladi Velolučanin, 22-godišnji policajac koji se motociklom iz Vele Luke vozio na posao u Policijsku postaju Ston. Izgubio je nadzor nad vozilom, a iz suprotnog smjera naišao je Mercedes. Policajac je zadobio smrtonosne ozljede.
U lipnju iste godine je 68-godišnja državljanka Novog Zelanda vozila moped po lokalnoj cesti prema Pupnatskoj luci. Izgubila je nadzor nad skuterom, udarila u stijenu i stradala na mjestu.
Od 2019. do danas ni jedna nesreća na istočnom dijelu otoka nije bila kobna, rijetke su čak i one s težim ozljedama građana.
Na zapadnom je dijelu Korčule druga priča, svi su mladi životi izgubljeni zbog neprilagođene brzine, najčešće u ranim jutarnjim satima uz utjecaj alkohola ili mladenačkog pretjerivanja. Na korčulanskoj cesti smrti.

Cesta smrti uzima svoj danak. Ponovo. Siječanj na Korčuli. Opet je zavijena u crno. Nakon lanjske tragedije, kad su u prometnoj nesreći živote izgubila čak trojica mladića iz Smokvice, prije nepuna dva tjedna život je izgubio još jedan mladić. Na istoj cesti...
Tek 20 godina imao je Velolučanin kada je u jutarnjim satima 28. siječnja, zbog neprilagođene brzine, izgubio nadzor nad vozilom na državnoj cesti Vela Luka – Blato, a potom preminuo od ozljeda koje je zadobio jer nije bio vezan sigurnosnim pojasom. Njegov suvozač, koji je koristio pojas, vratio se kući i roditeljima s lakšim ozljedama.
Otočani su, malo je reći, užasnuti, pogotovo stanovnici zapadnog dijela otoka, koji se prečesto susreću na tragičnim sprovodima mladih sumještana. Zadnja tragedija izazvala je buru negodovanja.
– Stalno se događaju prometne nesreće između Blata i Vele Luke, svako malo! – rekli su nam Lučani, dodajući:
– Provjerite koliko je mladih izginulo na ovoj cesti.
Jedna je Korčulanka iznijela zanimljivu teoriju:
– Na zapadnom dijelu otoka stalno se događaju prometne nesreće s kobnim posljedicama jer nema policije, a čim nema policije, počinje se ginuti. Kod nas na istočnom dijelu Korčule su non-stop prometne kontrole, sve je krcato policije, ali naša dica ne ginu.

Nije prvi put da čujemo kako se većina nadzora na cestama odvija na području grada Korčule i općine Lumbarda, gdje su prometne nesreće sa smrtnim ishodima doista rijetke. Istodobno, na području općina Vela Luka, Blato i Smokvica živote gube mladi ljudi, a policajaca baš i nema na prometnicama. Odlučili smo istražiti koliko u tim navodima ima istine, obratili smo se Policijskoj upravi dubrovačko-neretvanskoj.
– Službenici Policijske postaje Korčula nadzor prometa obavljaju sukladno prostorno-vremenskoj analizi događanja prometnih nesreća. Analiza pokazuje da je u posljednje četiri godine veći broj prometnih nesreća evidentiran na istočnom dijelu otoka, na području Korčule i Lumbarde, u odnosu na zapadni dio otoka, na područje Blata i Vela Luke.
Sukladno takvim pokazateljima, na istočnom dijelu otoka nadzor prometa je intenzivniji i u njemu sudjeluje veći broj policijskih službenika. Međutim, budući da je u posljednje četiri godine na zapadnom dijelu otoka evidentiran veći broj prometnih nesreća s nastradalim osobama, na području Blata i Vele Luke podnesen je veći broj represivnih mjera prema sudionicima u prometu u odnosu na istočni dio otoka – navode iz policije.
Odgovor je upravo onakav kakav smo očekivali, "ni da, ni ne". Ukratko, na području Korčule i Lumbarde ima više prometnih kontrola, ali u zonama Blata i Vele Luke kazne su veće i ozbiljnije. Te veće i ozbiljnije kazne, kao što vidimo, nisu urodile plodom, ali češće kontrole možda bi.
Zbog toga smo usporedili crne brojke za dva dijela Korčule. Tijekom posljednje četiri godine, od 2018. do 2022. godine, samo na kobnoj cesti Blato – Vela Luka dogodilo se 14 prometnih nesreća u kojima je smrtno stradalo šest osoba.
Šest uglavnom mladih osoba u samo četiri godine, šest tragedija koje će se, nažalost, pamtiti, a ako pribrojimo i nedavnu, koja po statistici prelazi u 2023. godinu, na samo jednom cestovnom potezu dogodilo se 15 nesreća s čak sedam smrtno stradalih osoba. K tome, na glavnoj otočnoj prometnici bilo je i po pet teže i lakše ozlijeđenih, a u šest nesreća je zabilježena materijalna šteta.

S druge strane, na područjima grada Korčule i općine Lumbarda u istom razdoblju zabilježeno je znatno više incidenata, njih čak 125, ali s dvije poginule osobe. U 64 nesreće zabilježene su ozlijeđene osobe, a u 59 materijalna šteta. Te dvije prometne nesreće sa smrtnim ishodom bile su, kako kažu Korčulani, sudbina ili viša sila na koju se teško može utjecati.
Najprije je u travnju 2019. poginuo mladi Velolučanin, 22-godišnji policajac koji se motociklom iz Vele Luke vozio na posao u Policijsku postaju Ston. Izgubio je nadzor nad vozilom, a iz suprotnog smjera naišao je Mercedes. Policajac je zadobio smrtonosne ozljede.
U lipnju iste godine je 68-godišnja državljanka Novog Zelanda vozila moped po lokalnoj cesti prema Pupnatskoj luci. Izgubila je nadzor nad skuterom, udarila u stijenu i stradala na mjestu.
Od 2019. do danas ni jedna nesreća na istočnom dijelu otoka nije bila kobna, rijetke su čak i one s težim ozljedama građana.
Na zapadnom je dijelu Korčule druga priča, svi su mladi životi izgubljeni zbog neprilagođene brzine, najčešće u ranim jutarnjim satima uz utjecaj alkohola ili mladenačkog pretjerivanja. Na korčulanskoj cesti smrti.
