Susret s Đurom Kovačevićem neće vas ostaviti ravnodušnim. Čovjek je to koji je doslovno dao sebe za Domovinu. U ratu je uvijek bio na prvoj crti bojišnice. Nakon teškog ranjavanja, ne jednog, nego dva, jedva je ostao živ. Prema medicinskim prognozama, pravo je čudo da je doživio 54 godine jer su posljedice vrlo ozbiljne. No, njegov veseli duh - koji dijeli sa suprugom Majom - nosi ga iz dana u dan i sve njegove fizičke i duhovne boli stavlja u drugi plan.

U našem intervjuu s poštovanjem spominje i psihijatra dr. Davora Grileca, koji mu je toliko puta pomogao u njegovim tjeskobnim danima. Svakog mjeseca ima s njime razgovor, koji mu puno pomaže.

- Veteranima je takva vrsta pomoći nekad od presudne važnosti - ističe uvijek iskren Đuro, veteran legendarne 1. satnije, 3. bojne, udarne 4. Gardijske brigade. Koštala ga je nekad ta iskrenost, ali u globalu gledajući, uglavnom ga je nagradila. Dani su mu ispunjeni ljudima koji ga nesebično vole, kao što i on voli ljude. Za prijatelje je u ratu jurišao na neprijateljske bunkere, onako kao u američkim filmovima.Učinio bi to i danas.

- Molim te, spomeni našeg velikog prijatelja Maroja Žanetića. Bez njega ne bi bilo ni moje knjige, a ne bi je bilo ni bez vašeg glavnog urednika Jadrana Kapora - ističe Đuro koji je, koristeći se svojim ratnim dnevnicima, napisao knjigu ‘Tako je pisao Ajant‘, predstavljena u Dubrovniku u prosincu prošle godine. Spominje se i svog suborca i zapovjednika Andrije Matijaša - Pauka koji ga je obožavao zbog njegovog teškog ratnog stanja. I danas je u prijateljskom kontaktu s Nadom Matijaš, jednom velikom i hrabrom ženom.

Đuro je inače poznat po izuzetnoj toleranciji prema drugim ljudima, usprkos užasima koje je vidio da čine upravo ljudi.

- Mislim da ljudsko biće ne bi smjelo ni vidjeti, a kamoli doživjeti ono što sam ja doživio. U ratu je lako ubiti čovjeka, a najteže je od toga odustati. Vidio sam ljude kako bježe i nisam pucao u njih. To je razlika između ubojice i vojnika, ostati čovjek koliko se može. Daj Bože da ne bude toga više nikada! Iza Domovinskog rata nijedan milimetar granica se nije pomaknuo, a koliko je ljudi izginulo i koliko ih je protjerano. Ali uvijek se pojavi neki vožd koji strahom upravlja narodom, dok iza svega stoji samo profit. Umro bih za prijatelje i danas, ali se pitaš ‘što nam je to trebalo‘. Nisam mislio da će Hrvatska biti ovo što je postala - ne skriva Đuro, koji je nedavno u jednoj svojoj objavi na Facebooku napisao i ovu veliku istinu: ‘Ne šaljite svoje sinove u njihov rat, jer i političari imaju sinove pa neka šalju svoje‘.

Susret s Đurom Kovačevićem neće vas ostaviti ravnodušnim. Čovjek je to koji je doslovno dao sebe za Domovinu. U ratu je uvijek bio na prvoj crti bojišnice. Nakon teškog ranjavanja, ne jednog, nego dva, jedva je ostao živ. Prema medicinskim prognozama, pravo je čudo da je doživio 54 godine jer su posljedice vrlo ozbiljne. No, njegov veseli duh - koji dijeli sa suprugom Majom - nosi ga iz dana u dan i sve njegove fizičke i duhovne boli stavlja u drugi plan.

U našem intervjuu s poštovanjem spominje i psihijatra dr. Davora Grileca, koji mu je toliko puta pomogao u njegovim tjeskobnim danima. Svakog mjeseca ima s njime razgovor, koji mu puno pomaže.

- Veteranima je takva vrsta pomoći nekad od presudne važnosti - ističe uvijek iskren Đuro, veteran legendarne 1. satnije, 3. bojne, udarne 4. Gardijske brigade. Koštala ga je nekad ta iskrenost, ali u globalu gledajući, uglavnom ga je nagradila. Dani su mu ispunjeni ljudima koji ga nesebično vole, kao što i on voli ljude. Za prijatelje je u ratu jurišao na neprijateljske bunkere, onako kao u američkim filmovima.Učinio bi to i danas.

- Molim te, spomeni našeg velikog prijatelja Maroja Žanetića. Bez njega ne bi bilo ni moje knjige, a ne bi je bilo ni bez vašeg glavnog urednika Jadrana Kapora - ističe Đuro koji je, koristeći se svojim ratnim dnevnicima, napisao knjigu ‘Tako je pisao Ajant‘, predstavljena u Dubrovniku u prosincu prošle godine. Spominje se i svog suborca i zapovjednika Andrije Matijaša - Pauka koji ga je obožavao zbog njegovog teškog ratnog stanja. I danas je u prijateljskom kontaktu s Nadom Matijaš, jednom velikom i hrabrom ženom.

Đuro je inače poznat po izuzetnoj toleranciji prema drugim ljudima, usprkos užasima koje je vidio da čine upravo ljudi.

- Mislim da ljudsko biće ne bi smjelo ni vidjeti, a kamoli doživjeti ono što sam ja doživio. U ratu je lako ubiti čovjeka, a najteže je od toga odustati. Vidio sam ljude kako bježe i nisam pucao u njih. To je razlika između ubojice i vojnika, ostati čovjek koliko se može. Daj Bože da ne bude toga više nikada! Iza Domovinskog rata nijedan milimetar granica se nije pomaknuo, a koliko je ljudi izginulo i koliko ih je protjerano. Ali uvijek se pojavi neki vožd koji strahom upravlja narodom, dok iza svega stoji samo profit. Umro bih za prijatelje i danas, ali se pitaš ‘što nam je to trebalo‘. Nisam mislio da će Hrvatska biti ovo što je postala - ne skriva Đuro, koji je nedavno u jednoj svojoj objavi na Facebooku napisao i ovu veliku istinu: ‘Ne šaljite svoje sinove u njihov rat, jer i političari imaju sinove pa neka šalju svoje‘.
