Udruga Domino, u sklopu proslave 20. godišnjice Queer Zagreba, od 26. do 30. travnja u kinu Kinoteka prikazat će program “Queer MoMenti” sa specijalnom posvetom Divineu, queer ikoni koju odnedavno prisvajaju i Hrvati i Srbi.

Harris Glenn Milstead, znan kao Divine (1945. – 1988.), za queer zajednicu legendarna je ličnost – američki glumac, pjevač i drag queen kojeg se gotovo neodvojivo povezuje s Johnom Watersom, jednim od najvažnijih redatelja queer zajednice.

No manje je poznato da je Divine, disco-zvijezda 80-ih i glumac u desetak filmova još od 60-ih, među kojima su i “Mondo Trasho”, “Pink Flamingos” i “Hairspray”, ujedno i “izgubljeni” zagrebački unuk.

Konkretnije, njegova majka Frances Milstead (rođena Vuković) svoje je zagrebačke korijene opisala u knjizi “My Son Divine”, gdje je i isticala kako je žarko željela doći u Zagreb, grad iz kojeg su u SAD emigrirali njezin otac i majka.

Sve se to događalo još i prije prve Jugoslavije, ali ostaje činjenica – Divine je podrijetlom Zagrepčanin.

Etnicitet ovoga podrijetla stručnjacima iz queer zajednice nije u potpunosti poznat, ali to ne smeta mnogima da se na Wikipediji i društvenim mrežama odnedavno uključuju u, naravno, očekivane debate je li i Divine bio Srbin ili Hrvat.

Konkretno, kako se navodi u više inačica Wikipedije, majka queer ikone – Frances Milstead (Vuković) – bila je jedno od 15-ero djece iz siromašne srpske obitelji iz okolice Zagreba, prije nego što su sreću potražili odlaskom u SAD.

‘Made in Croatia’

Iako u queer zajednici ističu da je etnicitet nebitan i odbacuju jalove prepirke o “krvnim zrncima” i “plemenskoj pripadnosti” queer legende, mnogima je podrijetlo Divinea zanimljivost koju ne treba ni skrivati.

”Prema informacijama iz knjige njegove majke, Divine je rodom iz Hrvatske. Nama je to za obilježavanje 20. Queer Zagreba došlo kao dar s neba. Hrvatska napokon ima jednu globalnu queer ikonu koju svi poznaju i koja je neupitna”, ističe Zvonimir Dobrović, osnivač i umjetnički direktor Udruge Domino.

Dodaje kako ostaje vidjeti koliko se s likom i djelom Divinea može sada “igrati” i na koji način može dodatno spojiti hrvatsku i srpsku queer zajednicu.

Dobrović dodaje i da nije od presudne važnosti je li Divine Hrvat ili Srbin, ističući kako su queer borbu počeli s istih startnih pozicija te su najnovijim otkrićem sada dobili odličnu “artiljeriju” u promociji lokalnih queer zajednica koje bi mogle postati relevantne i na globalnoj razini.

Zafrkancija s nacionalizmom

”Divine je odličan izraz campa i trasha te mislim da bi bilo odlično preko Divinea zafrkavati se s nacionalizmom, simbolikom nacija, država, grbova i trobojnica. Tu bi, vjerujem, i Divine uživao”, ističe Dobrović, ne isključujući paralele s puno poznatijim Nikolom Teslom, oko kojeg, nažalost, ne prestaju hrvatsko-srpski sporovi.

Potvrdu takvog stava daju i stručnjaci za srbijansku queer zajednicu.

”Ne znam je li Divine Srbin ili Hrvat, ili možda Srpkinja ili Hrvatica? Kako se ona izjašnjavala – možda da prizovemo njen duh na spiritističkoj seansi na granici između Srbije i Hrvatske i saznamo?

Naravno da je to pitanje idiotsko i u krajnjoj liniji nebitno – Divine je ikona queer zajednice i tu leži njena relevantnost.

Prepucavanja tog tipa dosađuju i idu na živce, pa ne bih dalje o tome”, kazao je Dušan Maljković, srpski književnik, novinar, LGBT aktivist i stručnjak za queer teoriju i kulturu.

Udruga Domino, u sklopu proslave 20. godišnjice Queer Zagreba, od 26. do 30. travnja u kinu Kinoteka prikazat će program “Queer MoMenti” sa specijalnom posvetom Divineu, queer ikoni koju odnedavno prisvajaju i Hrvati i Srbi.

Harris Glenn Milstead, znan kao Divine (1945. – 1988.), za queer zajednicu legendarna je ličnost – američki glumac, pjevač i drag queen kojeg se gotovo neodvojivo povezuje s Johnom Watersom, jednim od najvažnijih redatelja queer zajednice.

No manje je poznato da je Divine, disco-zvijezda 80-ih i glumac u desetak filmova još od 60-ih, među kojima su i “Mondo Trasho”, “Pink Flamingos” i “Hairspray”, ujedno i “izgubljeni” zagrebački unuk.

Konkretnije, njegova majka Frances Milstead (rođena Vuković) svoje je zagrebačke korijene opisala u knjizi “My Son Divine”, gdje je i isticala kako je žarko željela doći u Zagreb, grad iz kojeg su u SAD emigrirali njezin otac i majka.

Sve se to događalo još i prije prve Jugoslavije, ali ostaje činjenica – Divine je podrijetlom Zagrepčanin.

Etnicitet ovoga podrijetla stručnjacima iz queer zajednice nije u potpunosti poznat, ali to ne smeta mnogima da se na Wikipediji i društvenim mrežama odnedavno uključuju u, naravno, očekivane debate je li i Divine bio Srbin ili Hrvat.

Konkretno, kako se navodi u više inačica Wikipedije, majka queer ikone – Frances Milstead (Vuković) – bila je jedno od 15-ero djece iz siromašne srpske obitelji iz okolice Zagreba, prije nego što su sreću potražili odlaskom u SAD.

‘Made in Croatia’

Iako u queer zajednici ističu da je etnicitet nebitan i odbacuju jalove prepirke o “krvnim zrncima” i “plemenskoj pripadnosti” queer legende, mnogima je podrijetlo Divinea zanimljivost koju ne treba ni skrivati.

”Prema informacijama iz knjige njegove majke, Divine je rodom iz Hrvatske. Nama je to za obilježavanje 20. Queer Zagreba došlo kao dar s neba. Hrvatska napokon ima jednu globalnu queer ikonu koju svi poznaju i koja je neupitna”, ističe Zvonimir Dobrović, osnivač i umjetnički direktor Udruge Domino.

Dodaje kako ostaje vidjeti koliko se s likom i djelom Divinea može sada “igrati” i na koji način može dodatno spojiti hrvatsku i srpsku queer zajednicu.

Dobrović dodaje i da nije od presudne važnosti je li Divine Hrvat ili Srbin, ističući kako su queer borbu počeli s istih startnih pozicija te su najnovijim otkrićem sada dobili odličnu “artiljeriju” u promociji lokalnih queer zajednica koje bi mogle postati relevantne i na globalnoj razini.

Zafrkancija s nacionalizmom

”Divine je odličan izraz campa i trasha te mislim da bi bilo odlično preko Divinea zafrkavati se s nacionalizmom, simbolikom nacija, država, grbova i trobojnica. Tu bi, vjerujem, i Divine uživao”, ističe Dobrović, ne isključujući paralele s puno poznatijim Nikolom Teslom, oko kojeg, nažalost, ne prestaju hrvatsko-srpski sporovi.

Potvrdu takvog stava daju i stručnjaci za srbijansku queer zajednicu.

”Ne znam je li Divine Srbin ili Hrvat, ili možda Srpkinja ili Hrvatica? Kako se ona izjašnjavala – možda da prizovemo njen duh na spiritističkoj seansi na granici između Srbije i Hrvatske i saznamo?

Naravno da je to pitanje idiotsko i u krajnjoj liniji nebitno – Divine je ikona queer zajednice i tu leži njena relevantnost.

Prepucavanja tog tipa dosađuju i idu na živce, pa ne bih dalje o tome”, kazao je Dušan Maljković, srpski književnik, novinar, LGBT aktivist i stručnjak za queer teoriju i kulturu.
