Nova, druga sezona hit-serije "Bijeli lotos" u produkciji HBO-a osvaja dijalogom u jednoj od prvih epizoda koji kao da je napisao autor ovih redaka. Likovi metafilmski (metaserijski?) komentiraju serije, odnosno njihovu hiperprodukciju.

"Toliko sadržaja danas. Milijardu je serija. Svi žele zadržati ritam. To je zagušujuće, previše", kaže jedan od njih. Opaska je stopostotno na mjestu.

Dostojan nastavak

Serija je posljednjih nekoliko godina jednostavno previše i streaming servisi štancaju "sadržaj" u neograničenim sezonama kako bi imali približno jednaku količinu materijala kao njihova direktna konkurencija, zagušujući serijsko tržište kvantitetom u odnosu na kvalitetu i usput gušeći prosječnog gledatelja.

Ipak, HBO Max još uvijek ne pretjeruje s količinom i uglavnom pomiruje kvalitetu s kvantitetom, a ako i izbaci nastavke pojedinih serija, onda se potrudi da budu dostojni prethodnika.

Moglo se proći i bez druge sezone serije "The White Lotus". Prva sezona nagrađena Emmyjem bila je zaokružena cjelina. No, ako se nastavak "Bijelog lotosa" već "morao" snimiti, pohvalno je da je vrijedan prethodnika, barem ako je suditi po prvih pet (od ukupno sedam) epizoda, dobivenih na recenzentski uvid pred premijeru 31. listopada.

Nije to bilo lako. Jer, "The White Lotos" kreatora Mikea Whitea bio je jedna od boljih serija 2021. i uopće u posljednje vrijeme, britka društvena satira fokusirana na bogataške goste i domaćine istoimenog luksuznog hotelskog resorta na Havajima.

Okosnica "Bijelog lotosa 2" je na tom tragu, ali ovaj put se radnja seli u podružnicu franšizna resorta na Siciliji, a od glumačke ekipe iz prve sezone vraća se samo Jennifer Coolidge, još uvijek raspoložena kao Tanya McQuoid, dok je nezaboravnog menadžera hotela Armanda (Murray Bartlett) zamijenila manje nezaboravna Valentina (Sabrina Impacciatore), ali podjednako spremna umjetno se smiješiti i mahati gostima.

"Kad god odsjednem u ‘Bijelom lotosu‘, super se provedem", kaže Tanya u drugoj sezoni. Tanya između redaka najavljuje i super provod za fanove prve sezone. Početak je sličan kao u prethodniku. Jedna gošća resorta s užitkom govori novim gošćama kako joj je lijepo i žao joj je da odlazi.

Leš u moru

"Moraš umrijeti da te odvuku odavde koliko je dobro", kaže ona i ode se zadnji put okupati. U moru je neće napasti morski pas a la "Ralje" ili "Opasnost iz dubine" (premda se scena gradi kao da hoće), nego će naletjeti na neki leš. Pitanje je čiji da serija nastavi njegovati misteriju prethodne sezone.

Radnja se u tom trenutku vraća tjedan dana unatrag i upoznaje nas s drugim gostima hotela uz Tanyu, njezinog supruga Grega (Jon Gries) i njezinu asistenticu Portiju (Haley Lu Richardson).

Na Siciliju je stigao hollywoodski producent Dominic (Michael Imperioli) s ocem Bertom (oskarovac F. Murray Abraham) i sinom Albiejem (Adam DiMarco); oni su tu da nauče nešto o "sicilijanskim korijenima".

Stigla su i dva mlada, maksimalno različita para, Ethan i Harper (Will Sharpe, Aubrey Plaza) te Cameron i Daphne (Theo James, Meghann Fahy), koji su daleko od savršenih, a povezuje ih staro poznanstvo muških polovica. Galeriju likova upotpunjuju i lokalke Mia i Lucia (Beatrice Granno, Simona Tabasco).

Likovi su zanimljivi, svaki donosi neku vlastitu prtljagu i sve se više razvija svakom idućom epizodom u životno-filmičnim humorno-dramskim situacijama, a njihove konverzacije su opet fino napisane, bilo da govore o "bindžanju", "Tedu Lassu" ili nečem trećem.

Humor je još uvijek crn, kontrapunkt sunčanim lokacijama, čime White razbija iluziju turističkog raja, havajskog ili sicilijanskog svejedno. Ako ste voljeli prvu sezonu, spakirajte se za "Bijeli lotos 2".

Nova, druga sezona hit-serije "Bijeli lotos" u produkciji HBO-a osvaja dijalogom u jednoj od prvih epizoda koji kao da je napisao autor ovih redaka. Likovi metafilmski (metaserijski?) komentiraju serije, odnosno njihovu hiperprodukciju.

"Toliko sadržaja danas. Milijardu je serija. Svi žele zadržati ritam. To je zagušujuće, previše", kaže jedan od njih. Opaska je stopostotno na mjestu.

Dostojan nastavak

Serija je posljednjih nekoliko godina jednostavno previše i streaming servisi štancaju "sadržaj" u neograničenim sezonama kako bi imali približno jednaku količinu materijala kao njihova direktna konkurencija, zagušujući serijsko tržište kvantitetom u odnosu na kvalitetu i usput gušeći prosječnog gledatelja.

Ipak, HBO Max još uvijek ne pretjeruje s količinom i uglavnom pomiruje kvalitetu s kvantitetom, a ako i izbaci nastavke pojedinih serija, onda se potrudi da budu dostojni prethodnika.

Moglo se proći i bez druge sezone serije "The White Lotus". Prva sezona nagrađena Emmyjem bila je zaokružena cjelina. No, ako se nastavak "Bijelog lotosa" već "morao" snimiti, pohvalno je da je vrijedan prethodnika, barem ako je suditi po prvih pet (od ukupno sedam) epizoda, dobivenih na recenzentski uvid pred premijeru 31. listopada.

Nije to bilo lako. Jer, "The White Lotos" kreatora Mikea Whitea bio je jedna od boljih serija 2021. i uopće u posljednje vrijeme, britka društvena satira fokusirana na bogataške goste i domaćine istoimenog luksuznog hotelskog resorta na Havajima.

Okosnica "Bijelog lotosa 2" je na tom tragu, ali ovaj put se radnja seli u podružnicu franšizna resorta na Siciliji, a od glumačke ekipe iz prve sezone vraća se samo Jennifer Coolidge, još uvijek raspoložena kao Tanya McQuoid, dok je nezaboravnog menadžera hotela Armanda (Murray Bartlett) zamijenila manje nezaboravna Valentina (Sabrina Impacciatore), ali podjednako spremna umjetno se smiješiti i mahati gostima.

"Kad god odsjednem u ‘Bijelom lotosu‘, super se provedem", kaže Tanya u drugoj sezoni. Tanya između redaka najavljuje i super provod za fanove prve sezone. Početak je sličan kao u prethodniku. Jedna gošća resorta s užitkom govori novim gošćama kako joj je lijepo i žao joj je da odlazi.

Leš u moru

"Moraš umrijeti da te odvuku odavde koliko je dobro", kaže ona i ode se zadnji put okupati. U moru je neće napasti morski pas a la "Ralje" ili "Opasnost iz dubine" (premda se scena gradi kao da hoće), nego će naletjeti na neki leš. Pitanje je čiji da serija nastavi njegovati misteriju prethodne sezone.

Radnja se u tom trenutku vraća tjedan dana unatrag i upoznaje nas s drugim gostima hotela uz Tanyu, njezinog supruga Grega (Jon Gries) i njezinu asistenticu Portiju (Haley Lu Richardson).

Na Siciliju je stigao hollywoodski producent Dominic (Michael Imperioli) s ocem Bertom (oskarovac F. Murray Abraham) i sinom Albiejem (Adam DiMarco); oni su tu da nauče nešto o "sicilijanskim korijenima".

Stigla su i dva mlada, maksimalno različita para, Ethan i Harper (Will Sharpe, Aubrey Plaza) te Cameron i Daphne (Theo James, Meghann Fahy), koji su daleko od savršenih, a povezuje ih staro poznanstvo muških polovica. Galeriju likova upotpunjuju i lokalke Mia i Lucia (Beatrice Granno, Simona Tabasco).

Likovi su zanimljivi, svaki donosi neku vlastitu prtljagu i sve se više razvija svakom idućom epizodom u životno-filmičnim humorno-dramskim situacijama, a njihove konverzacije su opet fino napisane, bilo da govore o "bindžanju", "Tedu Lassu" ili nečem trećem.

Humor je još uvijek crn, kontrapunkt sunčanim lokacijama, čime White razbija iluziju turističkog raja, havajskog ili sicilijanskog svejedno. Ako ste voljeli prvu sezonu, spakirajte se za "Bijeli lotos 2".
