Bilo je to davno, nakon završetka Drugog svjetskog rata kad je i Šibenik krenuo u veliku obnovu svega onoga što su u gradu učinili okupatori fašističke i nacističke Italije Njemačke.

Ali i od onoga što su mu učinila saveznička bombardiranja 1944.

Ali po mišljenju građana i ljudi iz struke, povijesti i kulture, događale su se i stvari koje su značile i devastaciju u povijesnom graditeljskom tkivu grada.

Jedan takav zoran primjer, bilo je i rušenje stare Narodne kavane na Poljani sa svrhom da se na njenu mjestu sagradi dom JNA. Zadaću za projektiranje novog objekta dobio je arhitekt Ivan Vitić, inače Šibenčanin, kojega je izveo u modernističkoj maniri graditeljstva sredine 20.stoljeća.

Pa je Šibenik dobio nesimetrični objekt s velikim ostakljenim površinama. Onakav, kakav je i danas.

Valja spomenuti, kako je Narodna kavana početkom 20. st. nosila naziv Kavana Tommaseo.

A Tomaseo, ta ličnost iz politike i kulture, koja je bila oličena i njegovim spomenikom u donjem dijelu perivoja, na kom mjestu je danas spomenik hrvatskom kralju Petru Krešimiru IV, bio je oglašen kao istaknutim autonomašem. pa ga je i po odluci vlasti valjalo ukloniti, Na čemu je ustrajao i sam Vladimir Nazor, u ono vrijeme i predsjednik hrvatskog Sabora. I Tommaseo je pao. Jedna skupina tadašnjih omladinaca vezala je spomenik konopima, povukla ga i srušila.

Nije to baš bio prizor za gledanje.

A ipak, na mjesto stare kavane i u njoj društvenih prostora, zahvaljujući i Vitiću, danas imamo značajan kulturni objekt, Knjižnicu Juraj Šižgorić, po imenu poznatog humanista i biskupa Šibenskoga. Spada u jednu od najatraktivnijih i najbolje opremljenih objekata takve vrste u Hrvatskoj.

Narodna kavana na šibenskoj Poljani

Bilo je to davno, nakon završetka Drugog svjetskog rata kad je i Šibenik krenuo u veliku obnovu svega onoga što su u gradu učinili okupatori fašističke i nacističke Italije Njemačke.

Ali i od onoga što su mu učinila saveznička bombardiranja 1944.

Ali po mišljenju građana i ljudi iz struke, povijesti i kulture, događale su se i stvari koje su značile i devastaciju u povijesnom graditeljskom tkivu grada.

Jedan takav zoran primjer, bilo je i rušenje stare Narodne kavane na Poljani sa svrhom da se na njenu mjestu sagradi dom JNA. Zadaću za projektiranje novog objekta dobio je arhitekt Ivan Vitić, inače Šibenčanin, kojega je izveo u modernističkoj maniri graditeljstva sredine 20.stoljeća.

Pa je Šibenik dobio nesimetrični objekt s velikim ostakljenim površinama. Onakav, kakav je i danas.

Valja spomenuti, kako je Narodna kavana početkom 20. st. nosila naziv Kavana Tommaseo.

A Tomaseo, ta ličnost iz politike i kulture, koja je bila oličena i njegovim spomenikom u donjem dijelu perivoja, na kom mjestu je danas spomenik hrvatskom kralju Petru Krešimiru IV, bio je oglašen kao istaknutim autonomašem. pa ga je i po odluci vlasti valjalo ukloniti, Na čemu je ustrajao i sam Vladimir Nazor, u ono vrijeme i predsjednik hrvatskog Sabora. I Tommaseo je pao. Jedna skupina tadašnjih omladinaca vezala je spomenik konopima, povukla ga i srušila.

Nije to baš bio prizor za gledanje.

A ipak, na mjesto stare kavane i u njoj društvenih prostora, zahvaljujući i Vitiću, danas imamo značajan kulturni objekt, Knjižnicu Juraj Šižgorić, po imenu poznatog humanista i biskupa Šibenskoga. Spada u jednu od najatraktivnijih i najbolje opremljenih objekata takve vrste u Hrvatskoj.

Baštinazaboravljeni šibenik

Na mjestu današnje Knjižnice nekad je stajala Narodna kavana. Otkrivamo njezinu burnu prošlost

Bilo je to davno, nakon završetka Drugog svjetskog rata kad je i Šibenik krenuo u veliku obnovu svega onoga što su u gradu učinili okupatori fašističke i nacističke Italije Njemačke.

Ali i od onoga što su mu učinila saveznička bombardiranja 1944.

Ali po mišljenju građana i ljudi iz struke, povijesti i kulture, događale su se i stvari koje su značile i devastaciju u povijesnom graditeljskom tkivu grada.

Jedan takav zoran primjer, bilo je i rušenje stare Narodne kavane na Poljani sa svrhom da se na njenu mjestu sagradi dom JNA. Zadaću za projektiranje novog objekta dobio je arhitekt Ivan Vitić, inače Šibenčanin, kojega je izveo u modernističkoj maniri graditeljstva sredine 20.stoljeća.

Pa je Šibenik dobio nesimetrični objekt s velikim ostakljenim površinama. Onakav, kakav je i danas.

Valja spomenuti, kako je Narodna kavana početkom 20. st. nosila naziv Kavana Tommaseo.

A Tomaseo, ta ličnost iz politike i kulture, koja je bila oličena i njegovim spomenikom u donjem dijelu perivoja, na kom mjestu je danas spomenik hrvatskom kralju Petru Krešimiru IV, bio je oglašen kao istaknutim autonomašem. pa ga je i po odluci vlasti valjalo ukloniti, Na čemu je ustrajao i sam Vladimir Nazor, u ono vrijeme i predsjednik hrvatskog Sabora. I Tommaseo je pao. Jedna skupina tadašnjih omladinaca vezala je spomenik konopima, povukla ga i srušila.

Nije to baš bio prizor za gledanje.

A ipak, na mjesto stare kavane i u njoj društvenih prostora, zahvaljujući i Vitiću, danas imamo značajan kulturni objekt, Knjižnicu Juraj Šižgorić, po imenu poznatog humanista i biskupa Šibenskoga. Spada u jednu od najatraktivnijih i najbolje opremljenih objekata takve vrste u Hrvatskoj.
