Ne promijenimo li navike, more će ubrzo biti prazno. Populacije riba drastično opadaju zbog pretjeranog izlova, onečišćenja plastikom i drugih štetnih ljudskih praksi, upozorila je u ponedjeljak Svjetska organizacija za zaštitu prirode WWF.
"Mora, oceane i rijeke oduvijek smo koristili kao izvor hrane i drugih resursa, a danas ih iskorištavamo čak pet puta više nego prije 50 godina", upozorava WWF u novoj kampanji „I moru treba odmor!“.
Mnoge riblje populacije već su drastično smanjene, a njihov broj i dalje opada. Osim toga, druga morska bića, poput morskih kornjača i kitova, također su u opasnosti, jer smanjeni riblji fond znači da uskoro ni oni neće imati dovoljno hrane.
Stručnjak za morsku bioraznolikost u WWF Adriji Patrik Krstinić ističe kako se drastično smanjuje broj vrsta riba i broj populacija određenih vrsta u moru.
"Vremena nam ponestaje, o ovom problemu više nije dovoljno razgovarati, moramo hitno djelovati. Opstanak morskih životinja doveden je u pitanje, kao i egzistencija i kvaliteta života mnogih ljudi", poručuje Krstinić.
Upozorava da ako ne promijenimo navike, od alata koje koriste ribari do nas koji jedemo ribu, mogli bismo završiti s više plastike nego ribe u moru. "I to puno prije 2048. godine, koju su znanstvenici označili kao kritičnu kada je stanje mora u pitanju."
Već za našeg životnog vijeka, dodaje, moglo bi se dogoditi da nećemo imati dovoljno ribe za prehranu. Već je sada cjenovno mnogima nedostižna, upravo zato što je ima sve manje, kaže.
U WWF-u ističu kako su posvećeni zaštiti mora u cijelome svijetu. Kako bi se osiguralo održivo upravljanje morskim resursima, njihovi stručnjaci blisko surađuju s ribarima, lokalnim i europskim institucijama, kao i drugim nevladinim organizacijama.
Velike morske površine stoljećima su smatrane neiscrpnim izvorom hrane i drugih resursa, a sada, ističu u WWF-u, znamo da je 35 posto globalnih ribolovnih resursa prekomjerno iskorišteno, a čak 63 posto na razini Sredozemnog i Crnog mora.
WWF radi na promjeni tog trenda uspostavom „zona bez ribolova" kako bi se i more i riba mogli oporaviti, promičući alternativne izvore prihoda za obalne zajednice, kao što je ribolovni turizam, i podupirući ribare i donositelje odluka da pređu na održive ribolovne prakse.

Ne promijenimo li navike, more će ubrzo biti prazno. Populacije riba drastično opadaju zbog pretjeranog izlova, onečišćenja plastikom i drugih štetnih ljudskih praksi, upozorila je u ponedjeljak Svjetska organizacija za zaštitu prirode WWF.
"Mora, oceane i rijeke oduvijek smo koristili kao izvor hrane i drugih resursa, a danas ih iskorištavamo čak pet puta više nego prije 50 godina", upozorava WWF u novoj kampanji „I moru treba odmor!“.
Mnoge riblje populacije već su drastično smanjene, a njihov broj i dalje opada. Osim toga, druga morska bića, poput morskih kornjača i kitova, također su u opasnosti, jer smanjeni riblji fond znači da uskoro ni oni neće imati dovoljno hrane.
Stručnjak za morsku bioraznolikost u WWF Adriji Patrik Krstinić ističe kako se drastično smanjuje broj vrsta riba i broj populacija određenih vrsta u moru.
"Vremena nam ponestaje, o ovom problemu više nije dovoljno razgovarati, moramo hitno djelovati. Opstanak morskih životinja doveden je u pitanje, kao i egzistencija i kvaliteta života mnogih ljudi", poručuje Krstinić.
Upozorava da ako ne promijenimo navike, od alata koje koriste ribari do nas koji jedemo ribu, mogli bismo završiti s više plastike nego ribe u moru. "I to puno prije 2048. godine, koju su znanstvenici označili kao kritičnu kada je stanje mora u pitanju."
Već za našeg životnog vijeka, dodaje, moglo bi se dogoditi da nećemo imati dovoljno ribe za prehranu. Već je sada cjenovno mnogima nedostižna, upravo zato što je ima sve manje, kaže.
U WWF-u ističu kako su posvećeni zaštiti mora u cijelome svijetu. Kako bi se osiguralo održivo upravljanje morskim resursima, njihovi stručnjaci blisko surađuju s ribarima, lokalnim i europskim institucijama, kao i drugim nevladinim organizacijama.
Velike morske površine stoljećima su smatrane neiscrpnim izvorom hrane i drugih resursa, a sada, ističu u WWF-u, znamo da je 35 posto globalnih ribolovnih resursa prekomjerno iskorišteno, a čak 63 posto na razini Sredozemnog i Crnog mora.
WWF radi na promjeni tog trenda uspostavom „zona bez ribolova" kako bi se i more i riba mogli oporaviti, promičući alternativne izvore prihoda za obalne zajednice, kao što je ribolovni turizam, i podupirući ribare i donositelje odluka da pređu na održive ribolovne prakse.
