Dubrovački biolozi proveli su 25-godišnje istraživanje meduza u južnom Jadranu i rezultate ocijenili povoljnim u odnosu na Sredozemno more i u skladu s ciljevima Okvirne direktive za postizanje dobrog ekološkog statusa mora, ali su naglasili i prijetnje koje dolaze od sve brojnijih stranih vrsta.
Dubrovčani Ivana Violić, Davor Lučić, Barbara Gangai Zovko, Ivona Onofri i Marijana Hure; uz Branku Pestorić sa Sveučilišta Crne Gore i Nataliju Bojanić s Instituta oceanografije i ribarstva iz Splita, proveli su od 1996. do 2020. istraživanje o pojavnosti i brojnosti meduza u Dubrovačko-neretvanskoj županiji i rezultate objavili u novom broju časopisa Naše more.
Najbrojnije meduze
Zapazili su 15 svojti meduza, među kojima su tri najbrojnije.
Zvonolika skifomeduza Pelagia noctiluca najčešća je meduza na južnom Jadranu i trećinu zapažanja otpada na tu vrstu.
Neugodna je za kupače i zna uzrokovati zdravstvene poteškoće.
Sve veće zakiseljavanje mora uvelike pridonosi njezinu rasprostranjenju.
Ta meduza potiče cvjetanje mora, a posebno velike mase zabilježene su od 2003. do 2007. godine.

Drugi po brojnosti je rebraš Venerin pojas (Cestus veneris) i na nj otpada petinu zapažanja.
Vrlo je nježne građe i može narasti do jedan metar duljine.
Treća je skifomeduza Cotylorhiza tuberculata, čija pojavnost iznosi 17 posto, a koja se najčešće javlja u masama.

Njezino cvjetanje na južnom Jadranu nije bilo ni blizu opsegu cvjetanja na sjevernom Jadranu, ističe se.
Strane meduze
U tekstu se ističe pojava tri vrste meduza koje nisu porijeklom iz europskih voda.
To je slatkovodna hidromeduza Craspedacusta sowerbii, čija je izolirana masovna pojava zabilježena u jezeru Kuti blizu ušća rijeke Neretve.
Pored nje u istraživanju dugom četvrt stoljeća zabilježene su strane vrste Aurelia cf. solida, koja je znatno prisutnija na sjevernom Jadranu, i Mnemiopsis leidyi, jedne od najinvazivnijih morskih vrsta, koja je u nekoliko navrata zapažena u luci Ploče.
Smatramo da je unošenje M. leidyi u ovo područje uzrokovano ispuštanjem balastnih voda s brodova koji dolaze s teretom iz sjevernog Jadrana.

Dapače, od ljeta 2016. ta je invazivna vrsta stalno prisutna u sjevernom Jadranu tijekom tople sezone, često u iznimno velikim masama i sada s prepoznatljivim posljedicama na biokemijske cikluse i prehrambenu mrežu, ističu autori.
U Sredozemnom moru otkriven je velik broj stranih vrsta meduza, od kojih šest vrsta naseljava Jadransko more.
Neke od njih imaju veliki potencijal naseliti Jadransko more, ističe se.
Stanje dobro, prijetnje vidljive
Primjer negativnog utjecaja na ekološki sustav i biološku raznolikost jest trajno nastanjivanje plavog raka (Callinectes sapidus) u delti Neretve, što je rezultat ispuštanja balastnih voda napominju autori.

Naše istraživanje pokazuje da je istočna obala južnog Jadrana naseljena relativno stabilnom faunom meduza, čiji se sastav i brojnost nisu bitno promijenili posljednjih desetljeća, kažu autori u zaključku i ocjenjuju da su rezultati u skladu s ciljevima Okvirne direktive o morskoj strategiji EU-a (MSFD) za postizanje dobrog ekološkog statusa.
Želatinozni, mesožderni plankton krupnije veličine, čije se vrste obično pogrešno nazivaju meduzama, može formirati masivno cvjetanje koje ima različite negativne ekološke utjecaje na usluge ekosistema, zdravlje ljudi i gospodarske djelatnosti, posebice ribarstvo i akvakulturu, kaže se u tekstu i zaključuje da njihovo cvjetanje potiču pretjerani ribolov, izmjene staništa i globalne klimatske promjene.

Dubrovački biolozi proveli su 25-godišnje istraživanje meduza u južnom Jadranu i rezultate ocijenili povoljnim u odnosu na Sredozemno more i u skladu s ciljevima Okvirne direktive za postizanje dobrog ekološkog statusa mora, ali su naglasili i prijetnje koje dolaze od sve brojnijih stranih vrsta.
Dubrovčani Ivana Violić, Davor Lučić, Barbara Gangai Zovko, Ivona Onofri i Marijana Hure; uz Branku Pestorić sa Sveučilišta Crne Gore i Nataliju Bojanić s Instituta oceanografije i ribarstva iz Splita, proveli su od 1996. do 2020. istraživanje o pojavnosti i brojnosti meduza u Dubrovačko-neretvanskoj županiji i rezultate objavili u novom broju časopisa Naše more.
Najbrojnije meduze
Zapazili su 15 svojti meduza, među kojima su tri najbrojnije.
Zvonolika skifomeduza Pelagia noctiluca najčešća je meduza na južnom Jadranu i trećinu zapažanja otpada na tu vrstu.
Neugodna je za kupače i zna uzrokovati zdravstvene poteškoće.
Sve veće zakiseljavanje mora uvelike pridonosi njezinu rasprostranjenju.
Ta meduza potiče cvjetanje mora, a posebno velike mase zabilježene su od 2003. do 2007. godine.

Drugi po brojnosti je rebraš Venerin pojas (Cestus veneris) i na nj otpada petinu zapažanja.
Vrlo je nježne građe i može narasti do jedan metar duljine.
Treća je skifomeduza Cotylorhiza tuberculata, čija pojavnost iznosi 17 posto, a koja se najčešće javlja u masama.

Njezino cvjetanje na južnom Jadranu nije bilo ni blizu opsegu cvjetanja na sjevernom Jadranu, ističe se.
Strane meduze
U tekstu se ističe pojava tri vrste meduza koje nisu porijeklom iz europskih voda.
To je slatkovodna hidromeduza Craspedacusta sowerbii, čija je izolirana masovna pojava zabilježena u jezeru Kuti blizu ušća rijeke Neretve.
Pored nje u istraživanju dugom četvrt stoljeća zabilježene su strane vrste Aurelia cf. solida, koja je znatno prisutnija na sjevernom Jadranu, i Mnemiopsis leidyi, jedne od najinvazivnijih morskih vrsta, koja je u nekoliko navrata zapažena u luci Ploče.
Smatramo da je unošenje M. leidyi u ovo područje uzrokovano ispuštanjem balastnih voda s brodova koji dolaze s teretom iz sjevernog Jadrana.

Dapače, od ljeta 2016. ta je invazivna vrsta stalno prisutna u sjevernom Jadranu tijekom tople sezone, često u iznimno velikim masama i sada s prepoznatljivim posljedicama na biokemijske cikluse i prehrambenu mrežu, ističu autori.
U Sredozemnom moru otkriven je velik broj stranih vrsta meduza, od kojih šest vrsta naseljava Jadransko more.
Neke od njih imaju veliki potencijal naseliti Jadransko more, ističe se.
Stanje dobro, prijetnje vidljive
Primjer negativnog utjecaja na ekološki sustav i biološku raznolikost jest trajno nastanjivanje plavog raka (Callinectes sapidus) u delti Neretve, što je rezultat ispuštanja balastnih voda napominju autori.

Naše istraživanje pokazuje da je istočna obala južnog Jadrana naseljena relativno stabilnom faunom meduza, čiji se sastav i brojnost nisu bitno promijenili posljednjih desetljeća, kažu autori u zaključku i ocjenjuju da su rezultati u skladu s ciljevima Okvirne direktive o morskoj strategiji EU-a (MSFD) za postizanje dobrog ekološkog statusa.
Želatinozni, mesožderni plankton krupnije veličine, čije se vrste obično pogrešno nazivaju meduzama, može formirati masivno cvjetanje koje ima različite negativne ekološke utjecaje na usluge ekosistema, zdravlje ljudi i gospodarske djelatnosti, posebice ribarstvo i akvakulturu, kaže se u tekstu i zaključuje da njihovo cvjetanje potiču pretjerani ribolov, izmjene staništa i globalne klimatske promjene.
