Nizozemski svjetionik Lange Jaap, poznat i kao Kijkduin Light ili Den Helder Light, od ovog je tjedna zabranjen za posjetitelje zbog velike pukotine u lijevanom željezu. Zbog mogućnosti urušavanja konstrukcije zabranjeno je prilaziti bliže od 70 metara od svjetionika.

Zbog važnosti plovidbe tim područjem već je 1914. godine na tom mjestu bilo jednostavno svjetlo s vatrom na ugljen u tvrđavi Kijkduin, nekoliko stotina metara južno od sadašnjeg tornja.

Odlučeno je da se izgradi svjetionik te je 1822. dovršena izgradnja prvog tornja, a prvi put je osvijetljen 29. listopada 1822. Temelje toga tornja dva puta su popravljali. Zatim su odlučili napraviti sadašnji svjetionik, čije je prvo osvjetljenje bilo 1. travnja 1878.

Ovaj 63,5 metara visoki svjetionik gotovo je 100 godina (od 1878. do 1974.) bio najviši svjetionik u Nizozemskoj, sve do izgradnje svjetionika Maasvlakte.

Toranj je projektirao Quirinus Harder, a montažno ga je izradio Penn & Bauduin u Dordrechtu. Izrađen je od 1088 željeznih ploča i 21.446 matica i vijaka. Godine 1998. svjetionik je zatvoren za javnost zbog pukotina na podovima od lijevanog željeza. Iako je 1999. obnovljen, sada su se opet pojavile pukotine te je opet zatvoren. Prije odluke što dalje sa svjetionikom morat će se obaviti detaljna provjera konstrukcije.

Nizozemski svjetionik Lange Jaap, poznat i kao Kijkduin Light ili Den Helder Light, od ovog je tjedna zabranjen za posjetitelje zbog velike pukotine u lijevanom željezu. Zbog mogućnosti urušavanja konstrukcije zabranjeno je prilaziti bliže od 70 metara od svjetionika.

Zbog važnosti plovidbe tim područjem već je 1914. godine na tom mjestu bilo jednostavno svjetlo s vatrom na ugljen u tvrđavi Kijkduin, nekoliko stotina metara južno od sadašnjeg tornja.

Odlučeno je da se izgradi svjetionik te je 1822. dovršena izgradnja prvog tornja, a prvi put je osvijetljen 29. listopada 1822. Temelje toga tornja dva puta su popravljali. Zatim su odlučili napraviti sadašnji svjetionik, čije je prvo osvjetljenje bilo 1. travnja 1878.

Ovaj 63,5 metara visoki svjetionik gotovo je 100 godina (od 1878. do 1974.) bio najviši svjetionik u Nizozemskoj, sve do izgradnje svjetionika Maasvlakte.

Toranj je projektirao Quirinus Harder, a montažno ga je izradio Penn & Bauduin u Dordrechtu. Izrađen je od 1088 željeznih ploča i 21.446 matica i vijaka. Godine 1998. svjetionik je zatvoren za javnost zbog pukotina na podovima od lijevanog željeza. Iako je 1999. obnovljen, sada su se opet pojavile pukotine te je opet zatvoren. Prije odluke što dalje sa svjetionikom morat će se obaviti detaljna provjera konstrukcije.
