Oko 70 posto zemljine površine prekriveno je vodom, što iznosi 361.132.000 km2, a kad se pogleda karta svijeta, čini se kao da postoji samo jedan veliki ocean kojem su ljudi nadjenuli različita imena ovisno o mjestu boravka. Zapravo, granice između pet svjetskih oceana strahovito su živopisne. Zapanjuje spoznaja da se vodena tijela, iako su u potpunosti izrađena od istih komponenata, tj. H2O, ne miješaju uvijek, prenosi Pomorac.net.

Ako ikad uspijete pogledati točku spajanja dva najveća svjetska oceana, tj. Tihog i Atlantskog oceana (najjužniji vrh kraja Južne Amerike, zvani Rt Horn), događa se vrlo čudan fenomen.

Vode Atlantskog i Tihog oceana odbijaju se miješati. Još je spektakularnije da je granica između ova dva oceana poput linije između dva svijeta. Tamnije tihe vode stoje uz svjetlije atlantske vode i izgleda apsolutno zapanjujuće jer je ta granica duga 800 kilometara, što je poznato kao Prolaz Drake.

Ovaj čudesni fenomen se događa jer Atlantski i Tihi ocean imaju različitu gustoću i kemijsku strukturu, razinu slanosti i druge kvalitete, a to je ono što stvara barijeru između njih, što im otežava miješanje. Na osnovu razlike u bojama lako se može zaključiti da voda dvaju oceana nije ista.

Granice između dviju vodnih tijela s različitim fizičkim i biološkim značajkama poznate su pod nazivom oceanske kline. Jedna od najspektakularnijih granica zove se haloklina.

Kada se okupe dvije vodene površine sa znatno drugačijom salinitetom, nastaje haloklina jer se vodena tijela odbijaju miješati, što je spektakularno, a to je ono što vidimo kada se susretnu Atlantski i Tihi ocean. Ovu je pojavu pronašao poznati istraživač Jacques Cousteau kada je ronio u Gibraltarskom tjesnacu.

Haloklini se pojavljuju kada je voda u jednom oceanu ili moru najmanje pet puta slanija nego u drugom. Prema osnovnim zakonima fizike, gušća tekućina trebala završiti niže, a manje gusta tekućina više.

Prema ovoj teoriji, voda iz Tihog oceana trebala bi teći na vrhu Atlantskog oceana, tj. granica između dva oceana ne bi izgledala poput okomite crte, već kao vodoravna crta. Ali očito to nije slučaj. Pa, zašto se to ne dogodi?

Odgovor na to je kombinacija dva učinka. Prvo, razlika u gustoći između vode s Atlantskog i Tihog oceana nije toliko velika da bi se jedan od njih mogao spustiti, a drugi podići. Međutim, ipak je dovoljna razlika koja sprječava miješanje.

Drugi razlog je inercija. Jedna od inercijskih sila poznata kao Coriolisova sila, utječe na kretanje objekta. Jedan od primjera učinka Coriolisove sile vidi se na rotaciju Zemlje, dok se zemlja okreće, na sve pokretne predmete na zemlji djeluje Coriolisova sila, odstupajući od svog smjera.

Kao rezultat toga, objekt na Zemljinoj površini ne pomiče se pravocrtno, već odstupa u smjeru kazaljke na satu na sjevernoj hemisferi i suprotno od kazaljke na južnoj hemisferi. Zbog toga su smjerovi toka vodenih tijela u Atlantskom i Tihom oceanu različiti. Također im ne dopušta da se miješaju.

Druga važna razlika između vode dvaju oceana je čvrstoća veze molekula ili površinska vlačna čvrstoća. Dva oceana imaju potpuno različitu površinsku vlačnu čvrstoću, a također im ne dopušta da se miješaju, prenosi Pomorac.net.

Oko 70 posto zemljine površine prekriveno je vodom, što iznosi 361.132.000 km2, a kad se pogleda karta svijeta, čini se kao da postoji samo jedan veliki ocean kojem su ljudi nadjenuli različita imena ovisno o mjestu boravka. Zapravo, granice između pet svjetskih oceana strahovito su živopisne. Zapanjuje spoznaja da se vodena tijela, iako su u potpunosti izrađena od istih komponenata, tj. H2O, ne miješaju uvijek, prenosi Pomorac.net.

Ako ikad uspijete pogledati točku spajanja dva najveća svjetska oceana, tj. Tihog i Atlantskog oceana (najjužniji vrh kraja Južne Amerike, zvani Rt Horn), događa se vrlo čudan fenomen.

Vode Atlantskog i Tihog oceana odbijaju se miješati. Još je spektakularnije da je granica između ova dva oceana poput linije između dva svijeta. Tamnije tihe vode stoje uz svjetlije atlantske vode i izgleda apsolutno zapanjujuće jer je ta granica duga 800 kilometara, što je poznato kao Prolaz Drake.

Ovaj čudesni fenomen se događa jer Atlantski i Tihi ocean imaju različitu gustoću i kemijsku strukturu, razinu slanosti i druge kvalitete, a to je ono što stvara barijeru između njih, što im otežava miješanje. Na osnovu razlike u bojama lako se može zaključiti da voda dvaju oceana nije ista.

Granice između dviju vodnih tijela s različitim fizičkim i biološkim značajkama poznate su pod nazivom oceanske kline. Jedna od najspektakularnijih granica zove se haloklina.

Kada se okupe dvije vodene površine sa znatno drugačijom salinitetom, nastaje haloklina jer se vodena tijela odbijaju miješati, što je spektakularno, a to je ono što vidimo kada se susretnu Atlantski i Tihi ocean. Ovu je pojavu pronašao poznati istraživač Jacques Cousteau kada je ronio u Gibraltarskom tjesnacu.

Haloklini se pojavljuju kada je voda u jednom oceanu ili moru najmanje pet puta slanija nego u drugom. Prema osnovnim zakonima fizike, gušća tekućina trebala završiti niže, a manje gusta tekućina više.

Prema ovoj teoriji, voda iz Tihog oceana trebala bi teći na vrhu Atlantskog oceana, tj. granica između dva oceana ne bi izgledala poput okomite crte, već kao vodoravna crta. Ali očito to nije slučaj. Pa, zašto se to ne dogodi?

Odgovor na to je kombinacija dva učinka. Prvo, razlika u gustoći između vode s Atlantskog i Tihog oceana nije toliko velika da bi se jedan od njih mogao spustiti, a drugi podići. Međutim, ipak je dovoljna razlika koja sprječava miješanje.

Oko 70 posto zemljine površine prekriveno je vodom, što iznosi 361.132.000 km2, a kad se pogleda karta svijeta, čini se kao da postoji samo jedan veliki ocean kojem su ljudi nadjenuli različita imena ovisno o mjestu boravka. Zapravo, granice između pet svjetskih oceana strahovito su živopisne. Zapanjuje spoznaja da se vodena tijela, iako su u potpunosti izrađena od istih komponenata, tj. H2O, ne miješaju uvijek, prenosi Pomorac.net.

Ako ikad uspijete pogledati točku spajanja dva najveća svjetska oceana, tj. Tihog i Atlantskog oceana (najjužniji vrh kraja Južne Amerike, zvani Rt Horn), događa se vrlo čudan fenomen.

Vode Atlantskog i Tihog oceana odbijaju se miješati. Još je spektakularnije da je granica između ova dva oceana poput linije između dva svijeta. Tamnije tihe vode stoje uz svjetlije atlantske vode i izgleda apsolutno zapanjujuće jer je ta granica duga 800 kilometara, što je poznato kao Prolaz Drake.

Ovaj čudesni fenomen se događa jer Atlantski i Tihi ocean imaju različitu gustoću i kemijsku strukturu, razinu slanosti i druge kvalitete, a to je ono što stvara barijeru između njih, što im otežava miješanje. Na osnovu razlike u bojama lako se može zaključiti da voda dvaju oceana nije ista.

Granice između dviju vodnih tijela s različitim fizičkim i biološkim značajkama poznate su pod nazivom oceanske kline. Jedna od najspektakularnijih granica zove se haloklina.

Kada se okupe dvije vodene površine sa znatno drugačijom salinitetom, nastaje haloklina jer se vodena tijela odbijaju miješati, što je spektakularno, a to je ono što vidimo kada se susretnu Atlantski i Tihi ocean. Ovu je pojavu pronašao poznati istraživač Jacques Cousteau kada je ronio u Gibraltarskom tjesnacu.

Haloklini se pojavljuju kada je voda u jednom oceanu ili moru najmanje pet puta slanija nego u drugom. Prema osnovnim zakonima fizike, gušća tekućina trebala završiti niže, a manje gusta tekućina više.

Prema ovoj teoriji, voda iz Tihog oceana trebala bi teći na vrhu Atlantskog oceana, tj. granica između dva oceana ne bi izgledala poput okomite crte, već kao vodoravna crta. Ali očito to nije slučaj. Pa, zašto se to ne dogodi?

Odgovor na to je kombinacija dva učinka. Prvo, razlika u gustoći između vode s Atlantskog i Tihog oceana nije toliko velika da bi se jedan od njih mogao spustiti, a drugi podići. Međutim, ipak je dovoljna razlika koja sprječava miješanje.
