Kada smo bili djeca brali smo oskoruše i držali ih u mekinjama da dozore, i tada uživali u njima, prisjećaju se stariji lijepih uspomena iz djetinjstva, kada su brojna stabla oskoruše rasla uz redine ili na okućnicama, najviše na otocima.
Oskoruša (Sorbus domestica) je gotovo zaboravljena voćna vrsta koja oduvijek jednako dobro uspijeva na kontinentu, kao i Mediteranu. O njoj je pisao rimski pisac Plinije, a i otac hrvatske književnosti Marko Marulić, opisujući vartal u svom spjevu "Suzana".
Kao dekorativno stablo s gustom krošnjom lijepog izgleda, i k tome dobrog uroda s prekrasnim plodovima, ona je ljepotica koju treba očuvati kao voćnu i šumsku vrstu, i oteti je zaboravu!
Oskoruša je gotovo zaboravljeno drvo, polako izumire, jer se u prirodi teško razmnožava. Ima tvrdo i žilavo drvo, pa su je naši preci upotrebljavali za izradu kotača i zupčanika za vodene mlinove, a zbog lijepog dekorativnog drveta upotrebljavala se u stolarstvu.
Nekada je bilo poželjno da stablo oskoruše uspijeva u svakom kućanstvu. Poznata je ljekovitost njezinih plodova, posebno sušenih, od kojih su se kuhali ljekoviti čajevi, mljelo brašno, koje se dodavalo u kruh, kuhao kompot koji je, miješan s drugim voćem, imao poseban okus.
Kako su se medile
Oskoruša cvjeta u svibnju ili lipnju, cvjetovi su bijeli, skupljeni u skupinu cvjetova. Plodovi su jabukolikog oblika, debljine od 2 do 5 cm.
Plodovi su blijedo-zelene boje, na sunčanoj strani malo crvenkasti. Dozrijevaju u rujnu ili listopadu, tada požute i počinju postupno padati s drveta. Možemo ih otresti, ali moramo pričekati da posmeđe i damaceriraju ili se umede.
Meso je isprva tvrdo i jako trpko, a plodovi su ukusni tek nakon kraćeg ili dužeg umeđivanja.

Nekada su se oskoruše medile u slami ili sijenu na sjenicama, gdje je temperatura bila viša. Danas se oskoruše mede u gajbama poslaganim u podrumu, skladištima ili smočnicama, gdje se prilagođava zračna vlaga i temperatura.
Kako je posaditi
Oskoruša je vrlo skromna biljka, obrezivanje se vrši samo ako je neophodno. Pri sađenju se iskopa jame kao za sadnju drugih voćaka, obavi se gnojidba mineralnim i organskim gnojivom, stavi se potpornji kolac i veže sadnica.
Svake godine u proljeće obavimo gnojidbu, kao i drugih voćka na okućnici, da sadnica što prije izraste i oblikuje se u drvo – koje je lijepo i dekorativno. Oskoruše dočekaju zavidnu starost – višu od stotinu godina.
Danas postoje brojne sorte oskoruše. Ova naša autohtona je vrlo ukusna, ali mana joj je što alternativno rodi. Nakon godine kada je urod više nego bogat, sljedeće godine nema plodova.
Sadnice oskoruše mogu se nabaviti u svakom bolje opskrbljenom rasadniku ili izvaditi s korijenjem u zapuštenim živicama i redinama.

Kada smo bili djeca brali smo oskoruše i držali ih u mekinjama da dozore, i tada uživali u njima, prisjećaju se stariji lijepih uspomena iz djetinjstva, kada su brojna stabla oskoruše rasla uz redine ili na okućnicama, najviše na otocima.
Oskoruša (Sorbus domestica) je gotovo zaboravljena voćna vrsta koja oduvijek jednako dobro uspijeva na kontinentu, kao i Mediteranu. O njoj je pisao rimski pisac Plinije, a i otac hrvatske književnosti Marko Marulić, opisujući vartal u svom spjevu "Suzana".
Kao dekorativno stablo s gustom krošnjom lijepog izgleda, i k tome dobrog uroda s prekrasnim plodovima, ona je ljepotica koju treba očuvati kao voćnu i šumsku vrstu, i oteti je zaboravu!
Oskoruša je gotovo zaboravljeno drvo, polako izumire, jer se u prirodi teško razmnožava. Ima tvrdo i žilavo drvo, pa su je naši preci upotrebljavali za izradu kotača i zupčanika za vodene mlinove, a zbog lijepog dekorativnog drveta upotrebljavala se u stolarstvu.
Nekada je bilo poželjno da stablo oskoruše uspijeva u svakom kućanstvu. Poznata je ljekovitost njezinih plodova, posebno sušenih, od kojih su se kuhali ljekoviti čajevi, mljelo brašno, koje se dodavalo u kruh, kuhao kompot koji je, miješan s drugim voćem, imao poseban okus.
Kako su se medile
Oskoruša cvjeta u svibnju ili lipnju, cvjetovi su bijeli, skupljeni u skupinu cvjetova. Plodovi su jabukolikog oblika, debljine od 2 do 5 cm.
Plodovi su blijedo-zelene boje, na sunčanoj strani malo crvenkasti. Dozrijevaju u rujnu ili listopadu, tada požute i počinju postupno padati s drveta. Možemo ih otresti, ali moramo pričekati da posmeđe i damaceriraju ili se umede.
Meso je isprva tvrdo i jako trpko, a plodovi su ukusni tek nakon kraćeg ili dužeg umeđivanja.

Nekada su se oskoruše medile u slami ili sijenu na sjenicama, gdje je temperatura bila viša. Danas se oskoruše mede u gajbama poslaganim u podrumu, skladištima ili smočnicama, gdje se prilagođava zračna vlaga i temperatura.
Kako je posaditi
Oskoruša je vrlo skromna biljka, obrezivanje se vrši samo ako je neophodno. Pri sađenju se iskopa jame kao za sadnju drugih voćaka, obavi se gnojidba mineralnim i organskim gnojivom, stavi se potpornji kolac i veže sadnica.
Svake godine u proljeće obavimo gnojidbu, kao i drugih voćka na okućnici, da sadnica što prije izraste i oblikuje se u drvo – koje je lijepo i dekorativno. Oskoruše dočekaju zavidnu starost – višu od stotinu godina.
Danas postoje brojne sorte oskoruše. Ova naša autohtona je vrlo ukusna, ali mana joj je što alternativno rodi. Nakon godine kada je urod više nego bogat, sljedeće godine nema plodova.
Sadnice oskoruše mogu se nabaviti u svakom bolje opskrbljenom rasadniku ili izvaditi s korijenjem u zapuštenim živicama i redinama.
