U salonu palače Sermage, Gradskog muzeja Varaždin, otvorena je izložba u povodu 80. godišnjice postavljanja skulpture Grgura Ninskog Ivana Meštrovića.

Treba notirati da je kip prvo dvije godine bio smješten na splitskome Peristilu, no kako je prema mišljenju struke bio premalen za taj prostor, premješten je u Varaždin, gdje je postavljen ispred franjevačke crkve 20. rujna 1931. godine.

U povodu tog događaja, u Varaždinu je priređena i cjelodnevna svečanost o kojoj iscrpno izvješćuju i tadašnje “Varaždinske novosti“, navodeći kako je postavljanju skulpture prisustvovalo mnoštvo građana, članova varaždinskih kulturnih društava te brojni uzvanici.

A među viđenima bili su i nadbiskup dr. Ante Bauer, slikar Jozo Kljaković kao Meštrovićev izaslanik, te državno-politički dužnosnici.

Pa kad smo već kod Grgura Ninskog, amblema Splita, valja reći da je Meštrović (Vrpolje, Hrvatska, 1883. − South Bend, SAD, 1962.) izradio tri skulpture hrvatskog biskupa iz 10. stoljeća, tadašnjega kancelara hrvatskog kraljevskog dvora i gorljivog zagovornika staroslavenskog jezika, narodnog pisma glagoljice i glagoljaškoga bogoslužja.

Splitska inačica kipa monumentalnija je i ponešto drukčija od varaždinske, ponajprije po položaju lijeve ruke, dok je treća, izgledom identična varaždinskoj, postavljena u Ninu pokraj crkve sv. Anselma 1969. godine.

Brončani kip Grgura Ninskog stručnjaci ubrajaju među Meštrovićeva najbolja ostvarenja, a osim njegove umjetničke vrijednosti, u sva tri grada u kojima je postavljen uvriježilo se i vjerovanje da dotaknuti njegov palac donosi sreću.

U salonu palače Sermage, Gradskog muzeja Varaždin, otvorena je izložba u povodu 80. godišnjice postavljanja skulpture Grgura Ninskog Ivana Meštrovića.

Treba notirati da je kip prvo dvije godine bio smješten na splitskome Peristilu, no kako je prema mišljenju struke bio premalen za taj prostor, premješten je u Varaždin, gdje je postavljen ispred franjevačke crkve 20. rujna 1931. godine.

U povodu tog događaja, u Varaždinu je priređena i cjelodnevna svečanost o kojoj iscrpno izvješćuju i tadašnje “Varaždinske novosti“, navodeći kako je postavljanju skulpture prisustvovalo mnoštvo građana, članova varaždinskih kulturnih društava te brojni uzvanici.

A među viđenima bili su i nadbiskup dr. Ante Bauer, slikar Jozo Kljaković kao Meštrovićev izaslanik, te državno-politički dužnosnici.

Pa kad smo već kod Grgura Ninskog, amblema Splita, valja reći da je Meštrović (Vrpolje, Hrvatska, 1883. − South Bend, SAD, 1962.) izradio tri skulpture hrvatskog biskupa iz 10. stoljeća, tadašnjega kancelara hrvatskog kraljevskog dvora i gorljivog zagovornika staroslavenskog jezika, narodnog pisma glagoljice i glagoljaškoga bogoslužja.

Splitska inačica kipa monumentalnija je i ponešto drukčija od varaždinske, ponajprije po položaju lijeve ruke, dok je treća, izgledom identična varaždinskoj, postavljena u Ninu pokraj crkve sv. Anselma 1969. godine.

Brončani kip Grgura Ninskog stručnjaci ubrajaju među Meštrovićeva najbolja ostvarenja, a osim njegove umjetničke vrijednosti, u sva tri grada u kojima je postavljen uvriježilo se i vjerovanje da dotaknuti njegov palac donosi sreću.
