Organizacija Greenpeace je sredinom ožujka pozvala vlade da ratificiraju UN-ov ugovor o zaštiti oceana kako bi se uspostavilo prvo morsko zaštićeno područje na otvorenom moru oko poznatog ekvadorskog arhipelaga Galapagos.

Cilj je zaštititi prošireno područje oko Galapagosa, izvan domena nacionalnog parka, zbog sve većih ribolovnih napora koji ugrožavaju bogat morski svijet ovog područja koji obiluje mnogi biljnim i životinjskim vrstama od kojih su mnoge endemične. Posebna pažnja kroz ovaj ugovor usmjerena je na zaštitu morskih pasa i morskih kornjača koje migriraju u ova područja zbog hranjenja i gniježđenja.

Ugovor može stupiti na snagu 120 dana nakon što ga ratificira 60 zemalja, što je cilj koji se aktivisti Greenpeacea nadaju postići do 2025. godine.

Organizacija Greenpeace je sredinom ožujka pozvala vlade da ratificiraju UN-ov ugovor o zaštiti oceana kako bi se uspostavilo prvo morsko zaštićeno područje na otvorenom moru oko poznatog ekvadorskog arhipelaga Galapagos.

Cilj je zaštititi prošireno područje oko Galapagosa, izvan domena nacionalnog parka, zbog sve većih ribolovnih napora koji ugrožavaju bogat morski svijet ovog područja koji obiluje mnogi biljnim i životinjskim vrstama od kojih su mnoge endemične. Posebna pažnja kroz ovaj ugovor usmjerena je na zaštitu morskih pasa i morskih kornjača koje migriraju u ova područja zbog hranjenja i gniježđenja.

Ugovor može stupiti na snagu 120 dana nakon što ga ratificira 60 zemalja, što je cilj koji se aktivisti Greenpeacea nadaju postići do 2025. godine.

Organizacija Greenpeace je sredinom ožujka pozvala vlade da ratificiraju UN-ov ugovor o zaštiti oceana kako bi se uspostavilo prvo morsko zaštićeno područje na otvorenom moru oko poznatog ekvadorskog arhipelaga Galapagos.

Cilj je zaštititi prošireno područje oko Galapagosa, izvan domena nacionalnog parka, zbog sve većih ribolovnih napora koji ugrožavaju bogat morski svijet ovog područja koji obiluje mnogi biljnim i životinjskim vrstama od kojih su mnoge endemične. Posebna pažnja kroz ovaj ugovor usmjerena je na zaštitu morskih pasa i morskih kornjača koje migriraju u ova područja zbog hranjenja i gniježđenja.

Ugovor može stupiti na snagu 120 dana nakon što ga ratificira 60 zemalja, što je cilj koji se aktivisti Greenpeacea nadaju postići do 2025. godine.
