Talijanski jedriličar Andrea Stella nesretnim slučajem ostao je invalid, no želja za jedrenjem u njegovom slučaju bila je veća od tog hendikepa. Naime, njegujući san o nastavku jedrenja, osnovao je udrugu Lo Spirito di Stella i uz podršku obitelji odlučio je sagraditi katamaran dostupan svima. 

Uspjevši pobuditi interes i mobilizirati resurse, Andrea se upustio u izgradnju jedrilice koja bi članovima posade smanjene pokretljivosti omogućio pristup oceanskoj plovidbi. Izbor je prirodno pao na katamaran od 50 stopa...

- Zbog svojih unutarnjih volumena katamaran je bio idealna platforma za provedbu našeg projekta. Stvoreno je optimalno okruženje za smještaj korisnika invalidskih kolica. U projektiranju pristupačnih prostora, korištena je standardna širina od 68 do 69 cm, koji odgovara dimenzijama invalidskih kolica. Kao rezultat toga, svako područje nba brodu ima minimalnu širinu od 71 centimetra.

Za pozicioniranje gumba i prekidača odabrana je visina od 70 cm kako bi se osigurao lak pristup osobama s invaliditetom. Kao i na konvencionalnom katamaranu, salon se nalazi u središnjem dijelu, u kojem se nalazi blagovaonica i kuhinja na desnoj strani, gdje se odvijaju aktivnosti posade - tumači Stella.

Zahvaljujući kokpitu na jednoj razini, pristup brodu se može dobiti ili sa stražnje palube ili s boka ako je brod tako usidren, dok je pristup salonu osiguran preko male rampe sa nagibom od 8 stupnjeva.

Smještene u trupovima, dvije od ukupno četiri kabine su dostupne osobama u invalidskim kolicima, i kto putem električnog dizala. Prostorije za tuširanje uz kabine dizajnirane su tako da nude jednostavniji pristup.

Na palubi se članovi posade mogu kretati s krme na pramac preko kliznog sjedala, što im omogućuje da se kreću naprijed. Svi manevri se vraćaju u kokpit i lako su dostupni. Konačno, pristup moru je putem dizala opremljenog pojasom za plivanje.

Čim je katamaran porinut u Genovi, Andrea je krenuo prema Miamiju. Uslijedilo je njegovo prvo putovanje oko svijeta, koje je trajalo četiri godine. Na temelju ovog prvog uspješnog iskustva, katamaran je upravo krenuo na novo putovanje oko svijeta. Nekoliko dionica plovit će sa slavnim jedrenjakom Amerigo Vespucci, poznatim veleposlanikom po morima svijeta. Cilj ove druge kružne plovidbe ostaje isti: podići svijest javnosti o problemu osoba s invaliditetom:

- Želimo dokazati da ako možemo opremiti jedrilicu za osobe s invaliditetom, onda je to moguće učiniti i za one koji ostaju na obali - poručio je Andrea Stella.

Talijanski jedriličar Andrea Stella nesretnim slučajem ostao je invalid, no želja za jedrenjem u njegovom slučaju bila je veća od tog hendikepa. Naime, njegujući san o nastavku jedrenja, osnovao je udrugu Lo Spirito di Stella i uz podršku obitelji odlučio je sagraditi katamaran dostupan svima. 

Uspjevši pobuditi interes i mobilizirati resurse, Andrea se upustio u izgradnju jedrilice koja bi članovima posade smanjene pokretljivosti omogućio pristup oceanskoj plovidbi. Izbor je prirodno pao na katamaran od 50 stopa...

- Zbog svojih unutarnjih volumena katamaran je bio idealna platforma za provedbu našeg projekta. Stvoreno je optimalno okruženje za smještaj korisnika invalidskih kolica. U projektiranju pristupačnih prostora, korištena je standardna širina od 68 do 69 cm, koji odgovara dimenzijama invalidskih kolica. Kao rezultat toga, svako područje nba brodu ima minimalnu širinu od 71 centimetra.

Za pozicioniranje gumba i prekidača odabrana je visina od 70 cm kako bi se osigurao lak pristup osobama s invaliditetom. Kao i na konvencionalnom katamaranu, salon se nalazi u središnjem dijelu, u kojem se nalazi blagovaonica i kuhinja na desnoj strani, gdje se odvijaju aktivnosti posade - tumači Stella.

Zahvaljujući kokpitu na jednoj razini, pristup brodu se može dobiti ili sa stražnje palube ili s boka ako je brod tako usidren, dok je pristup salonu osiguran preko male rampe sa nagibom od 8 stupnjeva.

Smještene u trupovima, dvije od ukupno četiri kabine su dostupne osobama u invalidskim kolicima, i kto putem električnog dizala. Prostorije za tuširanje uz kabine dizajnirane su tako da nude jednostavniji pristup.

Na palubi se članovi posade mogu kretati s krme na pramac preko kliznog sjedala, što im omogućuje da se kreću naprijed. Svi manevri se vraćaju u kokpit i lako su dostupni. Konačno, pristup moru je putem dizala opremljenog pojasom za plivanje.

Čim je katamaran porinut u Genovi, Andrea je krenuo prema Miamiju. Uslijedilo je njegovo prvo putovanje oko svijeta, koje je trajalo četiri godine. Na temelju ovog prvog uspješnog iskustva, katamaran je upravo krenuo na novo putovanje oko svijeta. Nekoliko dionica plovit će sa slavnim jedrenjakom Amerigo Vespucci, poznatim veleposlanikom po morima svijeta. Cilj ove druge kružne plovidbe ostaje isti: podići svijest javnosti o problemu osoba s invaliditetom:

- Želimo dokazati da ako možemo opremiti jedrilicu za osobe s invaliditetom, onda je to moguće učiniti i za one koji ostaju na obali - poručio je Andrea Stella.
