Otkriće godine iz videotečne "online" ponude, "Spontano" je iznimno ugodno iznenađenje i sigurno će završiti na godišnjoj "best of" listi. Prilično savršen film, podatan za višestruka alegorijska čitanja, spontano povezuje nepovezivo: Johna Hughesa, "Heathers" i Davida Cronenberga, romantično i morbidno, divnu tinejdžersku (romantičnu) komediju, otkačenu crnu komediju i šokantni tjelesni SF horor, uz tračak egzistencijalne drame.

Premisa je genijalna, posuđena iz "young adult" romana Aarona Starmera, a u scenarij ju je pretočio redatelj Brian Duffield, dosad najpoznatiji kao scenarist filmova "Insurgent", "Jane Got a Gun", "The Babysitter", "Underwater" i "Love and Monsters". Srednjoškolci-maturanti iz malog američkog grada u ovom filmu pucaju, ali ne psihički od skorašnje mature i odlaska na fakultet, već fizički.

Kratko i jasno, oni doslovce eksplodiraju, spontano, iznenada, bez prethodnih naznaka da bi im se to moglo dogoditi. "Bilo je kao u Cronenbergovu filmu", opaža jedan tinejdžer kad njegova kolegica iz razreda eksplodira na satu matematike i pretvori učionicu u Pollockovu sliku, pod uvjetom da je on slikao krvlju gledajući horor "Blob: Mjehur ubojica".

Nesretnica je prsnula kao prišt na zacrvenjenom licu tinejdžera ili tinejdžerice. U jednoj sceni se ekran doslovno krvavo zacrveni od eksplozije tinejdžera od kojih ostaju "muljasti mrtvi komadići", redovito završavajući na licu, kosi, odjeći i cipelama njihovih vršnjaka ili slučajnih prolaznika.

Eksplozije pune krvi u hororskom "splatter" stilu su učestale i riječ "šokantno" nije tek tako gore upotrijebljena, a to što bilo tko može stradati daje na dodatnoj nepredvidljivosti ionako nepredvidljivog filma. Naravno, isprve policija misli da je, možda, "bombaš ubojica", ali nije.

"Jedino što je eksplodiralo je ona", kaže cinična tinejdžerica-autsajderica Mara Carlyle (Katherine Langford; "13 Reasony Why"). Mara je heroina priče koja krati školske dane s prijateljicom Tess McNulty (Hayley Law) prije nego upozna povučenog filmofila Dylana (Charlie Plummer; "Lean On Pete"), zaljubljenog u nju.

Dylanova filmofilija redatelju će poslužiti kao prilika za zgodne referencije na "E.T.-ja", "Carrie" i "Dr. Strangelovea". Gorko-slatka romansa je srce filma kojeg Duffield režira veoma zaigrano i nepredvidljivo. Primjerice, Mara će "načvakana" gljivama vidjeti Dylana "višestruko".

Kad Mara zatraži od Dylana da joj predoči "vremensku crtu" njegove zaljubljenosti u nju, on razbija "četvrti zid" obraćajući se njoj i gledateljima, gledajući u kameru, čak i gurajući objektiv lijevo-desno, što potom radi i ona. Utjecaj "Slobodnog dana Ferrisa Buellera" je evidentan, ali Duffield režijski odlazi korak dalje od Hughesova tinejdžerskog klasika u neistraženo i neviđeno.

Protagonisti na trenutak, dakle, postaju ne samo naratori svoje priče, već i režiseri, a sukladno dosad neistraženoj i neviđenoj eskalirajućoj situaciji u kakvoj se nalaze Mara i Dylan koji će jedno drugome biti "najbolja stvar ispala iz spontanih izgaranja". Duffield ne precizira zašto maturanti eksplodiraju u filmu "Spontaneous", ostavljajući metaforičke konotacije subjektivnoj interpretaciji gledatelja.

Je li ova situacija nekakvo upozorenje na "safe sex" i zrcalo straha od spolno prenosivih bolesti (krv)? Metafora preuranjenog seksa i seksualne eksplozije među tinejdžerima s obzirom da znanstvenici smišljaju "dugme za odgodu" za pokušaj prevencije eksplodiranja mladeži? Možda američke paranoje od terorizma i "bombaša samoubojica"?

Opet, način na koji Duffield orkestrira paniku dok učenici bježe iz učionica kroz hodnike može podsjetiti na paniku od pucanja/oružanih masakara po američkim školama iz stvarnosti. Još više, film snimljen prije COVID-19 ludila kao da vizionarski povlači paralelu s pandemijskom današnjicom: američke vlasti strpat će mladiće i cure u karantenu pod sumnjom u infekciju.

Današnja mladež može se poistovijetiti s likovima koji pokušavaju preživjeti, ostati živi dok se svijet oko njih raspada i tko zna kad će se vratiti u normalu, posebice time da nitko od njih nije siguran, sad kad i mladi sve više oboljevaju od novih sojeva korone. "Spontano" je definitivni mladenački film trenutka ili "teen movie" za "novo (ne)normalno".

Otkriće godine iz videotečne "online" ponude, "Spontano" je iznimno ugodno iznenađenje i sigurno će završiti na godišnjoj "best of" listi. Prilično savršen film, podatan za višestruka alegorijska čitanja, spontano povezuje nepovezivo: Johna Hughesa, "Heathers" i Davida Cronenberga, romantično i morbidno, divnu tinejdžersku (romantičnu) komediju, otkačenu crnu komediju i šokantni tjelesni SF horor, uz tračak egzistencijalne drame.

Premisa je genijalna, posuđena iz "young adult" romana Aarona Starmera, a u scenarij ju je pretočio redatelj Brian Duffield, dosad najpoznatiji kao scenarist filmova "Insurgent", "Jane Got a Gun", "The Babysitter", "Underwater" i "Love and Monsters". Srednjoškolci-maturanti iz malog američkog grada u ovom filmu pucaju, ali ne psihički od skorašnje mature i odlaska na fakultet, već fizički.

Kratko i jasno, oni doslovce eksplodiraju, spontano, iznenada, bez prethodnih naznaka da bi im se to moglo dogoditi. "Bilo je kao u Cronenbergovu filmu", opaža jedan tinejdžer kad njegova kolegica iz razreda eksplodira na satu matematike i pretvori učionicu u Pollockovu sliku, pod uvjetom da je on slikao krvlju gledajući horor "Blob: Mjehur ubojica".

Nesretnica je prsnula kao prišt na zacrvenjenom licu tinejdžera ili tinejdžerice. U jednoj sceni se ekran doslovno krvavo zacrveni od eksplozije tinejdžera od kojih ostaju "muljasti mrtvi komadići", redovito završavajući na licu, kosi, odjeći i cipelama njihovih vršnjaka ili slučajnih prolaznika.

Eksplozije pune krvi u hororskom "splatter" stilu su učestale i riječ "šokantno" nije tek tako gore upotrijebljena, a to što bilo tko može stradati daje na dodatnoj nepredvidljivosti ionako nepredvidljivog filma. Naravno, isprve policija misli da je, možda, "bombaš ubojica", ali nije.

"Jedino što je eksplodiralo je ona", kaže cinična tinejdžerica-autsajderica Mara Carlyle (Katherine Langford; "13 Reasony Why"). Mara je heroina priče koja krati školske dane s prijateljicom Tess McNulty (Hayley Law) prije nego upozna povučenog filmofila Dylana (Charlie Plummer; "Lean On Pete"), zaljubljenog u nju.

Dylanova filmofilija redatelju će poslužiti kao prilika za zgodne referencije na "E.T.-ja", "Carrie" i "Dr. Strangelovea". Gorko-slatka romansa je srce filma kojeg Duffield režira veoma zaigrano i nepredvidljivo. Primjerice, Mara će "načvakana" gljivama vidjeti Dylana "višestruko".

Kad Mara zatraži od Dylana da joj predoči "vremensku crtu" njegove zaljubljenosti u nju, on razbija "četvrti zid" obraćajući se njoj i gledateljima, gledajući u kameru, čak i gurajući objektiv lijevo-desno, što potom radi i ona. Utjecaj "Slobodnog dana Ferrisa Buellera" je evidentan, ali Duffield režijski odlazi korak dalje od Hughesova tinejdžerskog klasika u neistraženo i neviđeno.

Protagonisti na trenutak, dakle, postaju ne samo naratori svoje priče, već i režiseri, a sukladno dosad neistraženoj i neviđenoj eskalirajućoj situaciji u kakvoj se nalaze Mara i Dylan koji će jedno drugome biti "najbolja stvar ispala iz spontanih izgaranja". Duffield ne precizira zašto maturanti eksplodiraju u filmu "Spontaneous", ostavljajući metaforičke konotacije subjektivnoj interpretaciji gledatelja.

Je li ova situacija nekakvo upozorenje na "safe sex" i zrcalo straha od spolno prenosivih bolesti (krv)? Metafora preuranjenog seksa i seksualne eksplozije među tinejdžerima s obzirom da znanstvenici smišljaju "dugme za odgodu" za pokušaj prevencije eksplodiranja mladeži? Možda američke paranoje od terorizma i "bombaša samoubojica"?

Opet, način na koji Duffield orkestrira paniku dok učenici bježe iz učionica kroz hodnike može podsjetiti na paniku od pucanja/oružanih masakara po američkim školama iz stvarnosti. Još više, film snimljen prije COVID-19 ludila kao da vizionarski povlači paralelu s pandemijskom današnjicom: američke vlasti strpat će mladiće i cure u karantenu pod sumnjom u infekciju.

Današnja mladež može se poistovijetiti s likovima koji pokušavaju preživjeti, ostati živi dok se svijet oko njih raspada i tko zna kad će se vratiti u normalu, posebice time da nitko od njih nije siguran, sad kad i mladi sve više oboljevaju od novih sojeva korone. "Spontano" je definitivni mladenački film trenutka ili "teen movie" za "novo (ne)normalno".
