He-Man i Gospodari svemira, slavni “Masters Of The Universe” neizostavna su uspomena svakog sretnog djeteta osamdesetih, radilo se o kratkometražnim/dugometražnim animiranim filmovima ili Mattelovim igračkama, tj. akcijskim figuricama, s kojima bi vas tata obradovao na povratku iz Trsta, a mama kupnjom u “duty free shopovima” kraj hotela “Marjan” i Lučke kapetanije.

Bez “Mastersa” svijet dječje mašte bio bi malo siromašniji: gledali smo crtiće na televiziji i u kinima, čitali stripove, s njima se igrali i odras(ta)li. Prirodno, svaki fan “Mastersa” nije mogao dočekati igrani film “Gospodari svemira” (“Masters Of The Universe”, 1987.) nakon što je bio najavljen.

Glumi “onaj visoki jaki” iz “Rockyja IV” Dolph Lundgren, po mišićima najstvoreniji za ulogu superheroja He-Mana iza Schwarzeneggera i Stallonea, ali oni nisu imali izrazito plavu kosu, što je bila njegova prednost. Jednom kad se film pogledao, kod mnogih klinaca i ovog osmogodišnjaka stvorili su se pomiješani osjećaji s tisuću zašto pitanja. Zašto se radnja više odvija na Zemlji nego na planetu Eternija?

Zašto je He-Man cijelo vrijeme He-Man, a ne vidimo princa Adama i njegovo pretvaranje u superjunački alter-ego s mačem u ruci dok izgovara legendarni poklič “Sive lubanje silom! Ja imam moć!”/”By The Power Of Grayskull! I have the power!”?

Zašto je Čarobnica (Christina Pickles) bez krila? Zašto Skeletor (Frank Langella) ima vojsku robota “centurona” nalik “stormtrooperima” iz “Ratova zvijezda”, samo crne boje? Zašto nema Orka, kralja Randora, Vodenjaka i drugih poznatih pozitivaca i negativaca?

No, opet, Lundgren je bio pogođen kao He-Man, Langella i Meg Foster još pogođeniji u ulogama strašnog, ikoničkog supernegativca Skeletora i zle čarobnice čudnih, ledeno plavih očiju Evil-Lyn, a sasvim okej su bili i Jon Cypher i Chelsea Field kao Duncan/Čovjek-oružje/Man-at-Arms i Teela. Pomiješani osjećaji iz djetinjstva obilježili su i najnovije gledanje filma 35 godina kasnije, ali u međuvremenu su pitanja dobila odgovore.

“Gospodari svemira” su nastali u okviru “B” kompanije Cannon producentskog dvojca Menahem Golan-Yoram Globus, specijalizirane za srednje/niskobudžetne akciće Chucka Norrisa i Michaela Dudikoffa ("Invazija na SAD", "Američki nindža"...), koja se nakon doticaja s Warner Brosom na Stalloneovim filmovima (“Kobra”, “Na vrhu”) osokolila na budžetiranije projekte poput ovoga.

Golan i Globus su udružili producentske snage s prestižnim Edwardom Pressmanom ("Conan", "Wall Street", "Podmornica") i za supervizora efekata angažirali Richarda Edlunda (trilogija "Ratovi zvijezda", "Velika gužva u Kineskoj četvrti"). Međutim, 22 milijuna dolara nije bilo dovoljno da redatelj Gary Goddard ”oživi” sve lokacije i likove iz crtića, stripova i igračaka.

Ilustracije radi, “Star Wars” film “Povratak jedija” bio je skuplji od “Masters Of The Universe” i to četiri godine ranije (32.5 milijuna dolara). Zato je lakše bilo radnju većinski prebaciti na Zemlju i uvesti “comic relief” lik patuljastog/vilenjačkog ključara Gwildora (Billy Barty) umjesto malog lebdećeg čarobnjaka Orka. Za Gwildora je bila dovoljna maska, za Orka bi trebalo puno više efekata da poleti, a letio nije ni jedan Yoda.

Pa ipak, “Gospodari svemira” su se kao takvi uklapali u akcijske, SF i fantazijske filmove osamdesetih (od “Ratova zvijezda” i “Flasha Gordona” do “Highlandera”) i imali s njima podjednako ili čak više dodirnih točaka nego s crtićima, stripovima i igračkama dok su ih naveliko oponašali uz zamašnjak vlastite mašte (npr. zračni centurioni), nudeći mrvu svoga srca i duše, onako kao što skladatelj Bill Conti varira glazbenu temu Johna Williamsa iz “Supermana”.

Konceptualno, “Masters of The Universe” je svojevrsni “Star Wars” na Zemlji, gdje se radnja premješta iz Eternije nakon što, u bijegu od Skeletora, Gwildorov kozmički ključ otvori portal druge dimenzije i prebaci tamo njega, He-Mana, Duncana i Teelu. Ključ pronalaze tinejdžeri Julie i Kevin (mlada Courteney Cox, Robert Duncan McNeill).

Kad ga nehotice pokrenu Skeletor šalje svoje podanike da ga preotmu, onda zastrašujućeg Karga, Beast Mana, Bladea i Sauroda (Robert Towers, Tony Carroll, Anthony De Longis, Pons Maar), da bi nakon njihova neuspjeha i sam stigao na Zemlju.

Odlučujuća bitka svjetla i tame za Eterniju odvija se na Zemlji, kao što se u “Terminatoru” borba za postapokaliptičnu budućnost odvijala u sadašnjosti, a na naš “primitivni i bezukusni planet” (Skeletor) dotad su dolazili i alieni u filmovima poput “Stvora”, “Predatora” i “Skrivenog”.

“Što je ovo, cirkus?”, pitat će policajac Lubic (James Tolkan; "Povratak u budućnost", "Top Gun") kad vidi “blondie” He-Mana i šaroliku ekipu. “Cirkus” je u skladu s “fish-out-of-water” humorom osamdesetih kao u “E.T.-ju” i sudarom kultura nakon čega Zemljani mogu naučiti nešto od došljaka, tipa da se na Eterniji prilikom rastanaka ne kaže “Zbogom”, nego “Dobro putovanje” kao ekvivalent “Neka sila bude s tobom”.

Gwildor u jednom “E.T.-jevskom” trenutku nosi sunčane naočale, a mogao bi biti i lik iz fantazije poput “Legende” i “Labirinta”, “Princeze nevjeste” ili “Willowa”, kao što Saurod nalikuje Predatoru. S impresivnom tjelesnom konstitucijom Lundgren glumi He-Mana kao spoj futurističkog Conana i Pobješnjelog Maxa (iz drugog i trećeg filma) te napinje nauljene mišiće poput Ramba, što ne bi mogao raditi u ulozi princa Adama koji je s nabildanim alter egom prikrivao naizgledni gay identitet (ružičaste tajice).

Interesantno, samo je He-Man bio nabildan, ne i svi ostali likovi, za razliku od njihovih izvornih inačica, pa film dođe i kao neka “realističnija” verzija “Mastersa”, toliko da je junak tek jednom istinski pokazao svoju nadljudsku snagu kad je golim rukama srušio goleme stupove.

Realizam opstoji i u odličnoj Langellinoj interpretaciji Skeletora, neovisno o tome što, skriven pod maskom, utjelovljuje lika iz fantazije. Skeletor je mješavina Imperatora/Dartha Vadera iz “Ratova zvijezda” i Klytusa iz “Flasha Gordona”, ali izvanredni Langella glumi ga šekspirijanski nadahnuto i isporučuje neke od najimpresivnijih opaski žanrovskih negativaca uopće: “Pričaj mi o samoći dobra, He-Man. Je li ona jednaka samoći zla?”.

“Osjećam svemir u sebi”, govori Skeletor koji u završnici postaje “dio kozmosa”. On je svemir “Mastersa”, kao i Contijeva sintisajzerska glazba s notama djetinjstva osamdesetih, nadahnjujuća za “Stranger Things”. “Svemir je glazba”, kaže Gwildor i ne laže. Tema “Kozmički ključ” pogađa “sense of wonder” note i otvara portal djetinjstva u kojemu je Mastersima teško reći “zbogom”.

40 godina He-Mana

Uz 35. obljetnicu filma, He-Man kao lik slavi 40. godišnjicu, a Lundgren je proslavio 65. rođendan. Već dugo godina planira se snimiti nova igranofilmska verzija "Gospodara svemira", ali projekt nikako da uđe u fazu produkcije. Dotad, nedavno smo gledali animirane "Masterse" u produkciji Kevina Smitha.

He-Man i Gospodari svemira, slavni “Masters Of The Universe” neizostavna su uspomena svakog sretnog djeteta osamdesetih, radilo se o kratkometražnim/dugometražnim animiranim filmovima ili Mattelovim igračkama, tj. akcijskim figuricama, s kojima bi vas tata obradovao na povratku iz Trsta, a mama kupnjom u “duty free shopovima” kraj hotela “Marjan” i Lučke kapetanije.

Bez “Mastersa” svijet dječje mašte bio bi malo siromašniji: gledali smo crtiće na televiziji i u kinima, čitali stripove, s njima se igrali i odras(ta)li. Prirodno, svaki fan “Mastersa” nije mogao dočekati igrani film “Gospodari svemira” (“Masters Of The Universe”, 1987.) nakon što je bio najavljen.

Glumi “onaj visoki jaki” iz “Rockyja IV” Dolph Lundgren, po mišićima najstvoreniji za ulogu superheroja He-Mana iza Schwarzeneggera i Stallonea, ali oni nisu imali izrazito plavu kosu, što je bila njegova prednost. Jednom kad se film pogledao, kod mnogih klinaca i ovog osmogodišnjaka stvorili su se pomiješani osjećaji s tisuću zašto pitanja. Zašto se radnja više odvija na Zemlji nego na planetu Eternija?

Zašto je He-Man cijelo vrijeme He-Man, a ne vidimo princa Adama i njegovo pretvaranje u superjunački alter-ego s mačem u ruci dok izgovara legendarni poklič “Sive lubanje silom! Ja imam moć!”/”By The Power Of Grayskull! I have the power!”?

Zašto je Čarobnica (Christina Pickles) bez krila? Zašto Skeletor (Frank Langella) ima vojsku robota “centurona” nalik “stormtrooperima” iz “Ratova zvijezda”, samo crne boje? Zašto nema Orka, kralja Randora, Vodenjaka i drugih poznatih pozitivaca i negativaca?

No, opet, Lundgren je bio pogođen kao He-Man, Langella i Meg Foster još pogođeniji u ulogama strašnog, ikoničkog supernegativca Skeletora i zle čarobnice čudnih, ledeno plavih očiju Evil-Lyn, a sasvim okej su bili i Jon Cypher i Chelsea Field kao Duncan/Čovjek-oružje/Man-at-Arms i Teela. Pomiješani osjećaji iz djetinjstva obilježili su i najnovije gledanje filma 35 godina kasnije, ali u međuvremenu su pitanja dobila odgovore.

“Gospodari svemira” su nastali u okviru “B” kompanije Cannon producentskog dvojca Menahem Golan-Yoram Globus, specijalizirane za srednje/niskobudžetne akciće Chucka Norrisa i Michaela Dudikoffa ("Invazija na SAD", "Američki nindža"...), koja se nakon doticaja s Warner Brosom na Stalloneovim filmovima (“Kobra”, “Na vrhu”) osokolila na budžetiranije projekte poput ovoga.

Golan i Globus su udružili producentske snage s prestižnim Edwardom Pressmanom ("Conan", "Wall Street", "Podmornica") i za supervizora efekata angažirali Richarda Edlunda (trilogija "Ratovi zvijezda", "Velika gužva u Kineskoj četvrti"). Međutim, 22 milijuna dolara nije bilo dovoljno da redatelj Gary Goddard ”oživi” sve lokacije i likove iz crtića, stripova i igračaka.

Ilustracije radi, “Star Wars” film “Povratak jedija” bio je skuplji od “Masters Of The Universe” i to četiri godine ranije (32.5 milijuna dolara). Zato je lakše bilo radnju većinski prebaciti na Zemlju i uvesti “comic relief” lik patuljastog/vilenjačkog ključara Gwildora (Billy Barty) umjesto malog lebdećeg čarobnjaka Orka. Za Gwildora je bila dovoljna maska, za Orka bi trebalo puno više efekata da poleti, a letio nije ni jedan Yoda.

Pa ipak, “Gospodari svemira” su se kao takvi uklapali u akcijske, SF i fantazijske filmove osamdesetih (od “Ratova zvijezda” i “Flasha Gordona” do “Highlandera”) i imali s njima podjednako ili čak više dodirnih točaka nego s crtićima, stripovima i igračkama dok su ih naveliko oponašali uz zamašnjak vlastite mašte (npr. zračni centurioni), nudeći mrvu svoga srca i duše, onako kao što skladatelj Bill Conti varira glazbenu temu Johna Williamsa iz “Supermana”.

Konceptualno, “Masters of The Universe” je svojevrsni “Star Wars” na Zemlji, gdje se radnja premješta iz Eternije nakon što, u bijegu od Skeletora, Gwildorov kozmički ključ otvori portal druge dimenzije i prebaci tamo njega, He-Mana, Duncana i Teelu. Ključ pronalaze tinejdžeri Julie i Kevin (mlada Courteney Cox, Robert Duncan McNeill).

Kad ga nehotice pokrenu Skeletor šalje svoje podanike da ga preotmu, onda zastrašujućeg Karga, Beast Mana, Bladea i Sauroda (Robert Towers, Tony Carroll, Anthony De Longis, Pons Maar), da bi nakon njihova neuspjeha i sam stigao na Zemlju.

Odlučujuća bitka svjetla i tame za Eterniju odvija se na Zemlji, kao što se u “Terminatoru” borba za postapokaliptičnu budućnost odvijala u sadašnjosti, a na naš “primitivni i bezukusni planet” (Skeletor) dotad su dolazili i alieni u filmovima poput “Stvora”, “Predatora” i “Skrivenog”.

“Što je ovo, cirkus?”, pitat će policajac Lubic (James Tolkan; "Povratak u budućnost", "Top Gun") kad vidi “blondie” He-Mana i šaroliku ekipu. “Cirkus” je u skladu s “fish-out-of-water” humorom osamdesetih kao u “E.T.-ju” i sudarom kultura nakon čega Zemljani mogu naučiti nešto od došljaka, tipa da se na Eterniji prilikom rastanaka ne kaže “Zbogom”, nego “Dobro putovanje” kao ekvivalent “Neka sila bude s tobom”.

Gwildor u jednom “E.T.-jevskom” trenutku nosi sunčane naočale, a mogao bi biti i lik iz fantazije poput “Legende” i “Labirinta”, “Princeze nevjeste” ili “Willowa”, kao što Saurod nalikuje Predatoru. S impresivnom tjelesnom konstitucijom Lundgren glumi He-Mana kao spoj futurističkog Conana i Pobješnjelog Maxa (iz drugog i trećeg filma) te napinje nauljene mišiće poput Ramba, što ne bi mogao raditi u ulozi princa Adama koji je s nabildanim alter egom prikrivao naizgledni gay identitet (ružičaste tajice).

Interesantno, samo je He-Man bio nabildan, ne i svi ostali likovi, za razliku od njihovih izvornih inačica, pa film dođe i kao neka “realističnija” verzija “Mastersa”, toliko da je junak tek jednom istinski pokazao svoju nadljudsku snagu kad je golim rukama srušio goleme stupove.

Realizam opstoji i u odličnoj Langellinoj interpretaciji Skeletora, neovisno o tome što, skriven pod maskom, utjelovljuje lika iz fantazije. Skeletor je mješavina Imperatora/Dartha Vadera iz “Ratova zvijezda” i Klytusa iz “Flasha Gordona”, ali izvanredni Langella glumi ga šekspirijanski nadahnuto i isporučuje neke od najimpresivnijih opaski žanrovskih negativaca uopće: “Pričaj mi o samoći dobra, He-Man. Je li ona jednaka samoći zla?”.

“Osjećam svemir u sebi”, govori Skeletor koji u završnici postaje “dio kozmosa”. On je svemir “Mastersa”, kao i Contijeva sintisajzerska glazba s notama djetinjstva osamdesetih, nadahnjujuća za “Stranger Things”. “Svemir je glazba”, kaže Gwildor i ne laže. Tema “Kozmički ključ” pogađa “sense of wonder” note i otvara portal djetinjstva u kojemu je Mastersima teško reći “zbogom”.

40 godina He-Mana

Uz 35. obljetnicu filma, He-Man kao lik slavi 40. godišnjicu, a Lundgren je proslavio 65. rođendan. Već dugo godina planira se snimiti nova igranofilmska verzija "Gospodara svemira", ali projekt nikako da uđe u fazu produkcije. Dotad, nedavno smo gledali animirane "Masterse" u produkciji Kevina Smitha.

‘Gospodari svemira‘: Kozmički ključ djetinjstva

He-Man i Gospodari svemira, slavni “Masters Of The Universe” neizostavna su uspomena svakog sretnog djeteta osamdesetih, radilo se o kratkometražnim/dugometražnim animiranim filmovima ili Mattelovim igračkama, tj. akcijskim figuricama, s kojima bi vas tata obradovao na povratku iz Trsta, a mama kupnjom u “duty free shopovima” kraj hotela “Marjan” i Lučke kapetanije.

Bez “Mastersa” svijet dječje mašte bio bi malo siromašniji: gledali smo crtiće na televiziji i u kinima, čitali stripove, s njima se igrali i odras(ta)li. Prirodno, svaki fan “Mastersa” nije mogao dočekati igrani film “Gospodari svemira” (“Masters Of The Universe”, 1987.) nakon što je bio najavljen.

Glumi “onaj visoki jaki” iz “Rockyja IV” Dolph Lundgren, po mišićima najstvoreniji...
