Američka središnja banka - Federalne rezerve u nedjelju je odobrila preuzimanje posrnule banke Wachovia i njezinih podružnica od banke Wells Fargo.

Odlukom FED-a, Wells Fargo je postao pobjednikom u bici za jednu od najvećih komercijalnih banaka u SAD, s 3.300 podružnica u 21 saveznoj državi, objavio je poslovni TV kanal CNBC.

Bankarski div Citigroup prvotno je pokušao blokirati preuzimanje Wachovie od Wells Farga.

Wachovia, posljednja u nizu američkih banaka koje su se urušile u globalnoj financijskoj krizi, sa sjedištem u Charlotteu u Sjevernoj Karolini, donedavno je bila četvrta je po veličini banka u SAD s deklariranom imovinom od 812 milijardi dolara i 120.000 zaposlenih. Pritisnuta ogromnim gubicima našla se pred stečajem sredinom rujna, nakon što je njezina dionica pala za više od 70 posto.

Citigroup je ponudila 2.2 milijarde dolara za bankarske aktivnosti Wachovie, uz pokrivanje 42 od 312 milijardi dolara njezinih gubitaka, dok je ostalo trebala preuzeti savezna depozitarna agencija FDIC.

No, Wells Fargo je kasnije dao sedam puta veću ponudu, od 15 milijardi dolara, za kupnju cijele Wachowie, ističući kako njegov prijedlog ne uključuje vladinu intervenciju niti novac poreznih obveznika.

Američka središnja banka - Federalne rezerve u nedjelju je odobrila preuzimanje posrnule banke Wachovia i njezinih podružnica od banke Wells Fargo.

Odlukom FED-a, Wells Fargo je postao pobjednikom u bici za jednu od najvećih komercijalnih banaka u SAD, s 3.300 podružnica u 21 saveznoj državi, objavio je poslovni TV kanal CNBC.

Bankarski div Citigroup prvotno je pokušao blokirati preuzimanje Wachovie od Wells Farga.

Wachovia, posljednja u nizu američkih banaka koje su se urušile u globalnoj financijskoj krizi, sa sjedištem u Charlotteu u Sjevernoj Karolini, donedavno je bila četvrta je po veličini banka u SAD s deklariranom imovinom od 812 milijardi dolara i 120.000 zaposlenih. Pritisnuta ogromnim gubicima našla se pred stečajem sredinom rujna, nakon što je njezina dionica pala za više od 70 posto.

Citigroup je ponudila 2.2 milijarde dolara za bankarske aktivnosti Wachovie, uz pokrivanje 42 od 312 milijardi dolara njezinih gubitaka, dok je ostalo trebala preuzeti savezna depozitarna agencija FDIC.

No, Wells Fargo je kasnije dao sedam puta veću ponudu, od 15 milijardi dolara, za kupnju cijele Wachowie, ističući kako njegov prijedlog ne uključuje vladinu intervenciju niti novac poreznih obveznika.
