Više od trideset godina punoljetni građani u nas slobodno biraju svoje političke predstavnike, ali nijednom dosad nisu ni pomislili da bi to mogli činiti nekog drugog dana osim nedjelje. Festival demokracije po navici je bio neki lijeni i pospani dan gospodnji.

Mnogi su upravo iz crkve, nakon mise odlazili na biračka mjesta. Zaokružili bi broj ispred imena kandidata još dok im je u uspomeni živa župnikova diskretna preporuka za koga će glasati. Kad, odjednom, evo nam izbora usred tjedna. Razrogačeno smo zinuli, zar se srijedom to uopće smije?

No, nakon početne preneraženosti, lica nam je obasjala radost. Novost smo primili srdačno, objeručke. Bez obzira za glasamo li za ljevicu, desnicu ili centar, nitko se nije pobunio kad smo dobili još jedan neradni dan. Dapače, izbori u srijedu u cijeloj su domovini dočekani s oduševljenjem.

Krumpiri ili balote?

Lukaviji su već smislili kako će izbore i vikend, onaj prije ili onaj poslije, sasvim je svejedno, spojiti u pet slobodnih dana u komadu. Već kad je objavljeno da će se sedamnaestog travnja odlučiti o budućnosti Hrvatske, oni su rezervirali polupansion za četiri osobe u austrijskim Alpama. Drugi će skoknuti do Rima, treći do Istanbula, četvrti sve do Tenerifa.

Jutros sam u kafiću kriomice slušao kako su se jedan muškarac i njegova supruga svađali oko izbora. Umalo su oči jedno drugome iskopali, tako su nepomirljiva bila njihova stajališta. On je gorljivo ustrajao da u srijedu ujutro pođu posaditi krumpire u Siverić, a gospođa je tvrdo inzistrirala da se pridruže njezinoj majci i očuhu na fešti s pečenom janjetinom i balotama u Nerežišćima na Braču. Na koncu su se složili da će odlučiti glasanjem.

Glasačka kutija stajat će na stolu u blagovaonici, a glasat će se tajno, iza zavjese u kuhinji. Glasačko pravo ostvarit će njih dvoje roditelja, sin koji je na drugoj godini ekonomije i blizanke maturantice, u ožujku su napunile osamnaest. Najmlađa, učenica osmog razreda, još je maloljetna i ne glasa. Po predizbornim anketama izlet u Nerežišća je u znatnoj prednosti.

Unatoč očevim nastojanjima da slatkorječivim obećanjima očara glasače, dan s motikom u rukama i gumenim čizmama na nogama na vjetrovitoj njivi u Siveriću potomstvu je izrazito neprivlačna zamisao. Ostaje, doduše, mogućnost da ih otac nogom u guzicu uvjeri da pođu saditi krumpire, ali to onda više ne bi bila demokracija, nego okrutna diktatura.

Znajući kako je u našem narodu snažna želja da politički izrazi i čvrsto drži uzde svoje sudbine, nemam ni trun sumnje kako će na dan izbora hrvatska izletišta biti puna.

Građani će u srijedu pjevati s gitarama u planinarskim domova na Kozjaku i Plješivici, panulavat će na barkama u Kvarnerskom zaljevu, farbati drvenariju na vikendicama u Gorskom kotaru, kuhati fišpaprikaš u kotlićima na obalama Save, pohlepno srkati kamenice u Stonu. Izborni apstinetni slavit će festival demokracije s domaćim kobasicama i sirom iz mišine na razvikanom OPG-u, berući šparoge u šumi, igrajući odbojku na rascvaloj livadi.

Sve se ionako drugdje odlučuje

Jer, znate kako su naši ljudi nepovjerljivi prema tekovinama zapadne civilizacije. Mnoge se baš ničim ne može uvjeriti da su valja izaći na izbore. Kad ih upitate za koga će glasati, sažaljivo vam se osmjehnu. Oni glasaju još samo za pjesmu Eurovizije, kad je Ples sa zvijezdama, Big brother ili Masterchef. Od Sabora su, međutim, davno odustali.

Tko još vjeruje u demokraciju, govore vam cinično. Sve se važno odlučuje mimo birališta, zna se već gdje, objasne vam pokroviteljski, svisoka.

Takvi će ove neradna srijede otići negdje u provod. U kasno popodne na terasi nad zelenom rijekom zamišljeno će mućkati zlatnu graševinu u čaši, a za susjednim stolom će u to netko kazati nešto o Titu ili Tuđmanu, nešto skandalozno i sramotno što će ih užasno naljutiti. I tu će onda krenuti pijana svađa. Navodno nezainteresirani i neopredjeljeni divlje će se potući.

Oni koji ne glasaju za ljevicu zgrabit će se za prsi s onima koji ne glasaju za desnicu. Zajapurene i raščupane prijatelji će ih razdvojiti, nosit će im da cukra i vode u čaši i koriti ih riječima: "Zdravko, brate, ja sam mislio da si ti pametan." •

Više od trideset godina punoljetni građani u nas slobodno biraju svoje političke predstavnike, ali nijednom dosad nisu ni pomislili da bi to mogli činiti nekog drugog dana osim nedjelje. Festival demokracije po navici je bio neki lijeni i pospani dan gospodnji.

Mnogi su upravo iz crkve, nakon mise odlazili na biračka mjesta. Zaokružili bi broj ispred imena kandidata još dok im je u uspomeni živa župnikova diskretna preporuka za koga će glasati. Kad, odjednom, evo nam izbora usred tjedna. Razrogačeno smo zinuli, zar se srijedom to uopće smije?

No, nakon početne preneraženosti, lica nam je obasjala radost. Novost smo primili srdačno, objeručke. Bez obzira za glasamo li za ljevicu, desnicu ili centar, nitko se nije pobunio kad smo dobili još jedan neradni dan. Dapače, izbori u srijedu u cijeloj su domovini dočekani s oduševljenjem.

Krumpiri ili balote?

Lukaviji su već smislili kako će izbore i vikend, onaj prije ili onaj poslije, sasvim je svejedno, spojiti u pet slobodnih dana u komadu. Već kad je objavljeno da će se sedamnaestog travnja odlučiti o budućnosti Hrvatske, oni su rezervirali polupansion za četiri osobe u austrijskim Alpama. Drugi će skoknuti do Rima, treći do Istanbula, četvrti sve do Tenerifa.

Jutros sam u kafiću kriomice slušao kako su se jedan muškarac i njegova supruga svađali oko izbora. Umalo su oči jedno drugome iskopali, tako su nepomirljiva bila njihova stajališta. On je gorljivo ustrajao da u srijedu ujutro pođu posaditi krumpire u Siverić, a gospođa je tvrdo inzistrirala da se pridruže njezinoj majci i očuhu na fešti s pečenom janjetinom i balotama u Nerežišćima na Braču. Na koncu su se složili da će odlučiti glasanjem.

Glasačka kutija stajat će na stolu u blagovaonici, a glasat će se tajno, iza zavjese u kuhinji. Glasačko pravo ostvarit će njih dvoje roditelja, sin koji je na drugoj godini ekonomije i blizanke maturantice, u ožujku su napunile osamnaest. Najmlađa, učenica osmog razreda, još je maloljetna i ne glasa. Po predizbornim anketama izlet u Nerežišća je u znatnoj prednosti.

Unatoč očevim nastojanjima da slatkorječivim obećanjima očara glasače, dan s motikom u rukama i gumenim čizmama na nogama na vjetrovitoj njivi u Siveriću potomstvu je izrazito neprivlačna zamisao. Ostaje, doduše, mogućnost da ih otac nogom u guzicu uvjeri da pođu saditi krumpire, ali to onda više ne bi bila demokracija, nego okrutna diktatura.

Znajući kako je u našem narodu snažna želja da politički izrazi i čvrsto drži uzde svoje sudbine, nemam ni trun sumnje kako će na dan izbora hrvatska izletišta biti puna.

Građani će u srijedu pjevati s gitarama u planinarskim domova na Kozjaku i Plješivici, panulavat će na barkama u Kvarnerskom zaljevu, farbati drvenariju na vikendicama u Gorskom kotaru, kuhati fišpaprikaš u kotlićima na obalama Save, pohlepno srkati kamenice u Stonu. Izborni apstinetni slavit će festival demokracije s domaćim kobasicama i sirom iz mišine na razvikanom OPG-u, berući šparoge u šumi, igrajući odbojku na rascvaloj livadi.

Sve se ionako drugdje odlučuje

Jer, znate kako su naši ljudi nepovjerljivi prema tekovinama zapadne civilizacije. Mnoge se baš ničim ne može uvjeriti da su valja izaći na izbore. Kad ih upitate za koga će glasati, sažaljivo vam se osmjehnu. Oni glasaju još samo za pjesmu Eurovizije, kad je Ples sa zvijezdama, Big brother ili Masterchef. Od Sabora su, međutim, davno odustali.

Tko još vjeruje u demokraciju, govore vam cinično. Sve se važno odlučuje mimo birališta, zna se već gdje, objasne vam pokroviteljski, svisoka.

Takvi će ove neradna srijede otići negdje u provod. U kasno popodne na terasi nad zelenom rijekom zamišljeno će mućkati zlatnu graševinu u čaši, a za susjednim stolom će u to netko kazati nešto o Titu ili Tuđmanu, nešto skandalozno i sramotno što će ih užasno naljutiti. I tu će onda krenuti pijana svađa. Navodno nezainteresirani i neopredjeljeni divlje će se potući.

Oni koji ne glasaju za ljevicu zgrabit će se za prsi s onima koji ne glasaju za desnicu. Zajapurene i raščupane prijatelji će ih razdvojiti, nosit će im da cukra i vode u čaši i koriti ih riječima: "Zdravko, brate, ja sam mislio da si ti pametan." •
