Prije premijere na Netflixu sredinom mjeseca, serija “Maleni irvas” ili “Baby Reindeer” djelovala je kladioničarskim rječnikom kao travanjski “dark horse”, da ne kažemo “dark reindeer”. Na televizijsku dominaciju u travnju unaprijed su tipovale zvučne serije poput “Ripleyja”, “Star Trek: Discovery”, “Simpatizera”..., pogurane u prvi plan franšiznim pedigreom ili glumačkim zvijezdama ispred kamere.

---“Maleni irvas” nije imao ništa od toga. Posrijedi nije neko novo čitanje bestselera, nastavak hit-serijala, niti imena glumaca Richarda Gadda i Jessice Gunning zvone u uhu gledatelja kao ona Andrewa Scotta, Dakote Fanning i Roberta Downeyja Jr-a. Ipak, serija je “pecala” i “upecala” gledatelja na udicu istinite priče, odnosno koncepta opsjedanja muškarca od strane “lude i opasne” sredovječne žene, otprilike kao u nezaboravnom filmu “Misery”.
Dok je “Misery” utemeljen na romanu Stephena Kinga, “Baby Reindeer” je inspiriran “stalkerskom” situacijom iz života škotskog komičara/glumca i kreatora serije Gadda koji je sve što mu se dogodilo prethodno (2019.) pretočio u kazališnu predstavu, svedenu poput mono-drame.
Uvodna scena privlači pažnju. Muškarac ulazi u policijsku postaju i želi prijaviti da je “stalked”, a “stalkerica” je žena, “malo starija od njega” koja mu “dolazi na posao, doma, šalje poruke”. “Mislim da treba pomoć”, smatra on, Donny Dunn (Gaddov alter-ego), istaknuvši da to traje šest mjeseci.

---Policajac drži da pokazane poruke nisu toliko prijeteće i čudi se zašto je Donnyju trebalo toliko vremena da prijavi slučaj uznemiravanja. I tada slijedi “flashback” koji otkriva kako je sve počelo.
Donny je “stand up” komičar koji pokušava uspjeti na toj sceni i paralelno s komičarskim gažama radi u pubu. Jednog dana u pub uđe emotivno rastresena Martha (Gunning) i ništa ne naruči jer si ne može pruštiti, a Donny se smiluje i ponudi je čajem na njegov račun.
Malo po malo nakon tog čina dobrote, oni zapodjenu u razgovor i Martha počne svakodnevno dolaziti u pub kao da je Donnyjeva cura, ali i slati mu e-mailove i pratiti ga na Facebooku, svoga “malenog irvasa” (“baby reindeer”), kako mu daje nadimak. Zanimljivo, e-mailovi s dosta tipfelera završavaju riječima “poslano s mog iPhonea”, iako ona nema iPhone.
Isprve Donnyju laska pažnja i on uzvraća istom mjerom, no Martha postaje zaluđena njime i pretvara se u “stalkericu”, još više kad je blokira na Fejsu. “Nastavlja me kontaktirati, neće me ostaviti na miru”, konstatira Donny kojeg je Martha i fizički napastvovala (“još danima nakon toga osjećao sam njezino pipanje”).

Međutim, “Maleni irvas” nijansirano pristupa njihovu odnosu koji je sve samo ne crno-bijeli dok se postupno pretvara u noćnu moru za Donnyja.
Primjerice, kad se Martha jedina smije Donnyjevim šalama na “stand up-u”, shvatljivo je zašto mu je njezina pažnja i podrška imponirala, ali i da je to poslužilo kao okidač da ona (u)misli kako ima šanse. Iako je Donny komičar, serija nije komedija, već uznemirujuća drama nadomak nelagodnog psihološkog horora kojem pogoduje atmosferom, tenzijom i glazbom.
“Odavde sigurno ne može biti gore”, kaže Donny u jednom trenutku. Može. Četvrta epizoda, ambijentirana u Donnyjevu mračnu i traumatičnu prošlost, napose je neugodna na granici drame i horora, valjda jedna od najneugodnijih u povijesti televizije, stoga nije čudno da se otvara upozoravajući natpisom kako “sadrži prizore seksualnog nasilja koji mogu biti uznemirujući za pojedine gledatelje”.
No, unatoč žanrovskim naginjanjima (“poslano s mog iPhonea” ostaje u mislima), “Baby Reindeer” je prvenstveno drama i rijetko pretvara Donnyja i Marthu u tipične likove; oni djeluju kao pravi ljudi, ranjivi i usamljeni, puni k(r)ivnje i samoosuđivanja, naročito on. Čini se da je “Maleni irvas” snimljen da Gadd procesuira traumu i pomogne sebi i onima koji su s ove strane ekrana proživjeli nešto slično.

Netflix ) ) [bgPosition] => [text] => {OCMSplitter}Prije premijere na Netflixu sredinom mjeseca, serija “Maleni irvas” ili “Baby Reindeer” djelovala je kladioničarskim rječnikom kao travanjski “dark horse”, da ne kažemo “dark reindeer”. Na televizijsku dominaciju u travnju unaprijed su tipovale zvučne serije poput “Ripleyja”, “Star Trek: Discovery”, “Simpatizera”..., pogurane u prvi plan franšiznim pedigreom ili glumačkim zvijezdama ispred kamere.

---“Maleni irvas” nije imao ništa od toga. Posrijedi nije neko novo čitanje bestselera, nastavak hit-serijala, niti imena glumaca Richarda Gadda i Jessice Gunning zvone u uhu gledatelja kao ona Andrewa Scotta, Dakote Fanning i Roberta Downeyja Jr-a. Ipak, serija je “pecala” i “upecala” gledatelja na udicu istinite priče, odnosno koncepta opsjedanja muškarca od strane “lude i opasne” sredovječne žene, otprilike kao u nezaboravnom filmu “Misery”.
Dok je “Misery” utemeljen na romanu Stephena Kinga, “Baby Reindeer” je inspiriran “stalkerskom” situacijom iz života škotskog komičara/glumca i kreatora serije Gadda koji je sve što mu se dogodilo prethodno (2019.) pretočio u kazališnu predstavu, svedenu poput mono-drame.
Uvodna scena privlači pažnju. Muškarac ulazi u policijsku postaju i želi prijaviti da je “stalked”, a “stalkerica” je žena, “malo starija od njega” koja mu “dolazi na posao, doma, šalje poruke”. “Mislim da treba pomoć”, smatra on, Donny Dunn (Gaddov alter-ego), istaknuvši da to traje šest mjeseci.

---Policajac drži da pokazane poruke nisu toliko prijeteće i čudi se zašto je Donnyju trebalo toliko vremena da prijavi slučaj uznemiravanja. I tada slijedi “flashback” koji otkriva kako je sve počelo.
Donny je “stand up” komičar koji pokušava uspjeti na toj sceni i paralelno s komičarskim gažama radi u pubu. Jednog dana u pub uđe emotivno rastresena Martha (Gunning) i ništa ne naruči jer si ne može pruštiti, a Donny se smiluje i ponudi je čajem na njegov račun.
Malo po malo nakon tog čina dobrote, oni zapodjenu u razgovor i Martha počne svakodnevno dolaziti u pub kao da je Donnyjeva cura, ali i slati mu e-mailove i pratiti ga na Facebooku, svoga “malenog irvasa” (“baby reindeer”), kako mu daje nadimak. Zanimljivo, e-mailovi s dosta tipfelera završavaju riječima “poslano s mog iPhonea”, iako ona nema iPhone.
Isprve Donnyju laska pažnja i on uzvraća istom mjerom, no Martha postaje zaluđena njime i pretvara se u “stalkericu”, još više kad je blokira na Fejsu. “Nastavlja me kontaktirati, neće me ostaviti na miru”, konstatira Donny kojeg je Martha i fizički napastvovala (“još danima nakon toga osjećao sam njezino pipanje”).

Međutim, “Maleni irvas” nijansirano pristupa njihovu odnosu koji je sve samo ne crno-bijeli dok se postupno pretvara u noćnu moru za Donnyja.
Primjerice, kad se Martha jedina smije Donnyjevim šalama na “stand up-u”, shvatljivo je zašto mu je njezina pažnja i podrška imponirala, ali i da je to poslužilo kao okidač da ona (u)misli kako ima šanse. Iako je Donny komičar, serija nije komedija, već uznemirujuća drama nadomak nelagodnog psihološkog horora kojem pogoduje atmosferom, tenzijom i glazbom.
“Odavde sigurno ne može biti gore”, kaže Donny u jednom trenutku. Može. Četvrta epizoda, ambijentirana u Donnyjevu mračnu i traumatičnu prošlost, napose je neugodna na granici drame i horora, valjda jedna od najneugodnijih u povijesti televizije, stoga nije čudno da se otvara upozoravajući natpisom kako “sadrži prizore seksualnog nasilja koji mogu biti uznemirujući za pojedine gledatelje”.
No, unatoč žanrovskim naginjanjima (“poslano s mog iPhonea” ostaje u mislima), “Baby Reindeer” je prvenstveno drama i rijetko pretvara Donnyja i Marthu u tipične likove; oni djeluju kao pravi ljudi, ranjivi i usamljeni, puni k(r)ivnje i samoosuđivanja, naročito on. Čini se da je “Maleni irvas” snimljen da Gadd procesuira traumu i pomogne sebi i onima koji su s ove strane ekrana proživjeli nešto slično.
