"Nevjestin otac" zaživio je u više verzija na velikom ili malom ekranu, od starog klasika Vincentea Minnellija sa Spencerom Tracyjem i Elizabeth Taylor, preko novije verzije para Nancy Meyers-Charles Shyer sa Steveom Martinom i Diane Keaton, do friškog remakea s Andyjem Garcijom i Adriom Arjonom.

Moralo se prije ili kasnije dogoditi da netko snimi i romantičnu komediju naslovljenu "Mladenkina majka" ("Mother Of The Bride") i fokusiranu na nevjestinu mamu. To se konačno dogodilo ove godine u produkciji Netflixa i režiji Marka Watersa, specijaliziranog za rom-comove ("Zaljubljeni do ušiju", "Samo nebo zna", "Sve moje bivše") i komedije ("Šašavi petak", "Opasne djevojke, "Zločesti Djed Mraz 2").

Netflix je promućurno pustio "Mladenkinu majku" za vikend kad je pao Majčin dan i to je urodilo plodom pa je film osvojio sami vrh gledanosti streaming servisa.

Romantične komedije ponovno su "in", stoga i Netflix naveliko daje obol žanru ("Mother Of The Bride" je jedna u nizu njegovih od početka godine nakon "Players", "Irish Wish"...) u ovom slučaju kopirajući podvrstu rom-com filmova vezanih za tzv. "destination wedding" (odredišno vjenčanje).

Taj tip romantične komedije dobio je predstavnika 2018. u istovjetno naslovljenom filmu s Keanuom Reevesom i Winonom Ryder ("Destination Wedding" ili "Kako uloviti neženju?"), ali u međuvremenu je postalo pravilo da odredišno vjenčanje mora biti ne nekoj više ili manje egzotičnoj lokaciji, mahom neiskorištenoj unutar žanra rezerviranog za američke, britanske, francuske ili talijanske prijestolnice.

Rom-com je otputovao na Tajland ("Karta za raj" s Georgeom Clooneyjem i Julijom Roberts), Filipine ("Vjenčanje za umrijeti" s Jennifer Lopez i Joshom Duhamelom) i u Australiju ("Samo ne ti" sa Sydney Sweeney i Glenom Powellom) nakon što se egzotični teren pripremao u hit-mjuziklu "Mamma Mia" (fikcionalni grčki otok). "Mladenkina majka" također putuje na Tajland kao "Ticket To Paradise" i nastoji gledateljima prodati novu "kartu za raj", ali Brooke Shields ("Plava laguna") nije Roberts, niti je Benjamin Bratt kalibar Clooneyja.

Shields glumi Lanu, znanstvenicu, influencericu i overprotektivnu majku mlade Emme (Miranda Cosgrove) koja će se iznenaditi kad joj kćerka saopći da ju je dečko RJ (Sean Teale) zaprosio. "Zašto imaš zaručnički prsten?", reagira ona osupnuto. Još će se više iznenaditi kad na Tajlandu, "savršenom mjestu za vjenčanje", dozna da je RJ-ev otac njezin bivši dečko Will (Bratt) koji ju je ostavio nakon faksa.

Kad Lana na Tajlandu upozna mlađeg, "hemsworthovski" zgodnog Lucasa (Chad Michael Murray), ona će se naći u ljubavnom trokutu s njim i Willom, a potonjeg će prekinuti dok se tuširao i pogoditi ga teniskom lopticom u jaja prilikom tenisa u parove u izlizanim pokušajima klasične romantične komedije koja je ovdje "hallmarkovske" kvalitete. Ipak, tajlandske lokacije su privlačne za neobavezno gledanje, a Shields izgovara barem jednu u žanru dosad neizgovorenu rečenicu s citatnim potencijalom. "Imam donje rublje starije od njega".

"Nevjestin otac" zaživio je u više verzija na velikom ili malom ekranu, od starog klasika Vincentea Minnellija sa Spencerom Tracyjem i Elizabeth Taylor, preko novije verzije para Nancy Meyers-Charles Shyer sa Steveom Martinom i Diane Keaton, do friškog remakea s Andyjem Garcijom i Adriom Arjonom.

Moralo se prije ili kasnije dogoditi da netko snimi i romantičnu komediju naslovljenu "Mladenkina majka" ("Mother Of The Bride") i fokusiranu na nevjestinu mamu. To se konačno dogodilo ove godine u produkciji Netflixa i režiji Marka Watersa, specijaliziranog za rom-comove ("Zaljubljeni do ušiju", "Samo nebo zna", "Sve moje bivše") i komedije ("Šašavi petak", "Opasne djevojke, "Zločesti Djed Mraz 2").

Netflix je promućurno pustio "Mladenkinu majku" za vikend kad je pao Majčin dan i to je urodilo plodom pa je film osvojio sami vrh gledanosti streaming servisa.

Romantične komedije ponovno su "in", stoga i Netflix naveliko daje obol žanru ("Mother Of The Bride" je jedna u nizu njegovih od početka godine nakon "Players", "Irish Wish"...) u ovom slučaju kopirajući podvrstu rom-com filmova vezanih za tzv. "destination wedding" (odredišno vjenčanje).

Taj tip romantične komedije dobio je predstavnika 2018. u istovjetno naslovljenom filmu s Keanuom Reevesom i Winonom Ryder ("Destination Wedding" ili "Kako uloviti neženju?"), ali u međuvremenu je postalo pravilo da odredišno vjenčanje mora biti ne nekoj više ili manje egzotičnoj lokaciji, mahom neiskorištenoj unutar žanra rezerviranog za američke, britanske, francuske ili talijanske prijestolnice.

Rom-com je otputovao na Tajland ("Karta za raj" s Georgeom Clooneyjem i Julijom Roberts), Filipine ("Vjenčanje za umrijeti" s Jennifer Lopez i Joshom Duhamelom) i u Australiju ("Samo ne ti" sa Sydney Sweeney i Glenom Powellom) nakon što se egzotični teren pripremao u hit-mjuziklu "Mamma Mia" (fikcionalni grčki otok). "Mladenkina majka" također putuje na Tajland kao "Ticket To Paradise" i nastoji gledateljima prodati novu "kartu za raj", ali Brooke Shields ("Plava laguna") nije Roberts, niti je Benjamin Bratt kalibar Clooneyja.

Shields glumi Lanu, znanstvenicu, influencericu i overprotektivnu majku mlade Emme (Miranda Cosgrove) koja će se iznenaditi kad joj kćerka saopći da ju je dečko RJ (Sean Teale) zaprosio. "Zašto imaš zaručnički prsten?", reagira ona osupnuto. Još će se više iznenaditi kad na Tajlandu, "savršenom mjestu za vjenčanje", dozna da je RJ-ev otac njezin bivši dečko Will (Bratt) koji ju je ostavio nakon faksa.

Kad Lana na Tajlandu upozna mlađeg, "hemsworthovski" zgodnog Lucasa (Chad Michael Murray), ona će se naći u ljubavnom trokutu s njim i Willom, a potonjeg će prekinuti dok se tuširao i pogoditi ga teniskom lopticom u jaja prilikom tenisa u parove u izlizanim pokušajima klasične romantične komedije koja je ovdje "hallmarkovske" kvalitete. Ipak, tajlandske lokacije su privlačne za neobavezno gledanje, a Shields izgovara barem jednu u žanru dosad neizgovorenu rečenicu s citatnim potencijalom. "Imam donje rublje starije od njega".
